Every traveler has their best-meal-in-Italy story, and this one is ours. It's definitely not easy for a restaurant to stand out because the food is so good at so many restaurants, but our dinner at Pavone made me realize all of the other ingredients to an all-around amazing experience. We started the usual find-a-restaurant shuffle earlier in the evening after crossing Ponte Vecchio, wandering, and stopping for gelato. Osteria del Pavone popped up in Yelp, and we walked over. It wasn't open yet, but the location was interesting - it was at the end of an alleyway, with a peacock over the doorway. We decided to come back around 730p, when they opened. They had a table, and we walked in past the bar, into a lovely dining room with a vaulted ceiling. We enjoyed some succulent bites of shrimp and octopus to start, followed by several amazing pasta dishes - pici with duck sauce and pappardelle with wild boar ragu. The gazpacho was cool and refreshing, perfect after a long day of wandering around Florence. Still having some space to sample another dish, we ordered spaghetti with tomato sauce, cooked to al dente perfection. I loved every bite of pasta that I ate. We ordered a couple of desserts - a wonderful tiramisu and the creamiest, smoothest panna cotta I've ever had. We'll be thinking about this meal for a long time - the interesting location, the beautiful dining room, the friendly staff, the superlative food (including desserts, and not over-ordering), and even a restaurant mascot - a wonderful, complete meal at the end of a long day of sightseeing.

Deliciousness - 4.5/5 Happiness - 4.5/5 For those looking for a higher-end meal at a reasonable price for the high quality of food you get, look no further than this cozy restaurant tucked away down an alley across the Ponte Vecchio bridge. We went there and were greeted with a menu bursting with fare differing from the ubiquitous pasta and pizza. We started off with an exquisite appetizer of lightly roasted asparagus with a fried egg and truffle shavings. Truffles make everything wonderful, but this dish was basically perfection. All of the flavors worked incredibly well together and complemented each other to create a layered dish. I could order this plate every day for a month and not get tired of it. Our entrees were slightly under the quality of the appetizer, but still really great. My wife got a risotto that came with mini chocolate chips in it. The sweet and savory pairing was a true delight with modern flair. I tried a dish of roe deer. Less gamy than American venison, it was a fun new meat to experience even if it could have used a bit more spice to balance out the mellow flavor of the meat. They also have a great selection of natural wines (and plenty of Italian classic wines too). My wife and I split a bottle recommended by the restaurant's sommelier and were not disappointed. This really is a great place to experience modernized food and decor in Florence. Highly recommended.

Best meal I've ever had! I'd return to Florence in a heartbeat. The food is fresh and we recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the area.

This was our first meal in Florence and it was INCREDIBLE. Tucked away in an alley in the heart of Florence - this restaurant is an absolute must. We ordered close to 7 dishes on the menu & every single one was magnificent. Our server Anna was attentive, knowledgeable, & kind. She recommended a great wine that paired well with the INCREDIBLE FOOD. Her service really elevated our dining experience! 10/10 recommend if you are visiting Florence!

From the time we entered Pavone until the time we left on our 2 dining experiences, we were treated like family. I have created my own six star club for exceptional experiences in food, service, ambiance. Osteria del Pavone is in that club. The location is perfect just a couple blocks from the ponte vecchio. The service was amazing. Not to slow. Even though they were extremely busy on both occasions. The food was incredible. Steak amazing. Truffle pasta, wow. I don't think we tried one dish we didn't enjoy. I even splurged and drank a bottle of 1998 Dom Perignon, juice from the gods. So without making this long and drawn out. Welcome to the. Star club Osteria del Pavone. You are a must do in my book. We will see you next year in Florence.

Stopped in for pre-dinner drinks and really enjoyed sitting at the bar. Bartender took his time and put a lot into each drink and it showed. The amaretto sour was incredible, followed by negroni and espresso martini. The only one I wouldn't order again was the grapefruit mule - didn't taste much like a mule but it was still pretty good.

Wow! Where to start.... First, make a reservation. We tried going one night and the wait was over an hour. The place was packed! But we got smart and made a reservation for the second night and it was perfect. We spent hours there eating, drinking, and enjoying the food, wine, and staff. Expect to pay a nice bill here, especially if you are going to have appetizers, primis, secondis, dessert, and drinks. Wine: The wine selection is vast, so I recommend asking Primo a sommelier for suggestions based on what regions or flavors you like. He can find something to fit your taste and budget. We also tried an orange wine, which I'm not a huge fan of sweet wine but it wasn't super sickly sweet. It looks like a white wine with an orange hue. Almost smells and tastes like peach. It was a nice treat from the staff. Food: We had the beef tartar to start that came with two bruschetta. The flavors were fresh and clean - very tasty. Great to split between a couple. For the primis, we order these doughy spinach balls that were green - my apologies for not remembering the name. Not what I expected. But it was tasty. However, the lasagne was to die for!! it is not a red sauce lasagne, it was a white sauce with porcini mushrooms and truffle. It had flecks of good on it. It's truffle season right now in October so lots of food options in Italy with truffle. Highly recommend the lasagne. For the secondi, we split the beef fillet. We asked for medium rare and it was perfect! I mean absolutely perfect. The flavors and cook were perfect. Again, highly recommend. We then shared a cheese plate with another bottle of wine after dinner. Great way to end dinner before dessert. For dessert, we had the black and white. It was white chocolate and chocolate mousse or ganache. Omg! Delicious!!! And we had a glass of dessert sweet wine to pair with it. Overall, I highly recommend this place. For all of this, we paid ~€260. It's our honeymoon and we knew we wanted one nice dinner at least and this knocked it our of the park. Highly highly recommend stopping in here when in Firenze (Florence).

In a hurry I used TripAdvisor to quickly find a restaurant that was still open at 10pm. This restaurant had wonderful reviews. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the bartender, Filippo.I was alone so I decided to stay at the bar. So glad I did. I received wonderful service. The food and wine was absolutely delicious! Ambiance food and service was fantastic! I will definitely return when i'm in town.

The best meal we had in Florence! A charming, lovely and peaceful oasis just a few steps from the crowded streets of Florence. I had the Gragnano spaghetti with tomato sauce, burrata and basil - it was simple but so flavorful and delicious! I ate every last bit of it. My husband had risotto with shrimp and basil sauce and enjoyed it as well. Great wines choices. We were lucky to get a table since we just walked in off the street without a reservation. People who showed up shortly after us were turned away. Highly recommend it!

Fantastic food, service & drinks! Our party of 2 walked in at 7pm on a Friday night & were lucky to be seated right away. Our server was amazing, he held me back from ordering too much food, we ended up with just the perfect amount. He brought fabulous local wines & educated me on each one, he was attentive to what I liked & his service was spectacular. For dinner, we had the Florentine steak, salad & porcini mushrooms, all delicious. It was a lovely dining experience & I'm eager to go back for a future visit to Florence.

He was awesome and had us laughing the entire night. We peppered him with a lot of questions about the menu, he answered everything and also accommodated my father-in-law, who is GF. For app I had the anchovies with roasted red pepper, sea salt and oil over grilled crostini, very good. I skipped first course and ordered the ribeye steak for my main course. Bone in, medium rare, sprinkled with sea salt and a side of onion marmalade. The steak was very good and had way less fat than I expected. The waiter suggested a huge steak for the table, but I was the only one ordering steak that night. Maybe next time. Others ordered the fillet and it was cooked perfectly, the angels and demons gnocchi, and the veal scallopini. Everybody was pleased Really cool spot with a very good wine selection, drinks, excellent food and a fun atmosphere that you don't find at many places. Nugo was an A+ server.

Not many places actually have yelp reviews, but this one had so many with great feedback. The food looked amazing. When we arrived we thought they were closed, but that is because they moved to a bigger restaurant a few doors down. When we arrived at the front, the gentleman asked if we had reservations, which we didn't. He directed us to the line with no reservations. The line was a bit long, but doubled in size almost immediately. It also started pouring rain during this time and we were ALL getting drenched even with an umbrella. The non reservation line was not really moving unless people left the line. We waited a good hour. As we inched closer and closer, the lines were now both outrageous and getting seated seemed like a distant memory. The staff came out and gave out Sangria and Bread bites to help those in line feel welcome. We did finally get seated and we were so glad we waited, it was worth it! We ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara, the lobster spaghettini and the chicken breast with roasted potatoes. We also ordered sangria. Everything was so good and our total was 83 €. Prices were unbelievable! We were amazed at the quality, the service and how large the restaurant they relocated to was. It was like a well oiled machine. The food coming out quickly and efficiently. I looked around and saw what seemed to be majority American tourists so I had very standard expectations. Well, what commenced...my god. I'm getting chills now thinking about the entire experience. Just the absolute perfect dinner my first night in Florence. Everything on the menu looked fantastic and I was even tempted to order 2 Primi (pastas) but my server discouraged it, said they were quite large. Instead she guided towards the "must" appetizer, the "onion flan with pecorino cheese and truffle" followed by their signature pasta, "pappardelle with wild boar ragù" The appetizer literally brought me to tears as soon as I took a bite. I didn't think I liked truffle but this was life-changing. And the pasta was served piping hot and also to die for. I complemented the meal with a delicious glass of white and red and ended with the utterly divine tiramisu. I will be dreaming about this meal for years to come. So epic.

We saw the fat physical reservation book when we went, and also saw an attempted walk-in get turned away. We wanted to go for dinner, but I'm just glad we were able to get in at all. Vini e Vecchi Sapori was easily my favorite restaurant in Florence. I loved the cozy, vibrant dining room, snug and eclectically decorated. We were at a table so tiny, I worried about pulling a muscle when I crossed my legs. It was nestled amongst other tiny tables, and abutted a counter where plates were put out for service and the reservation book set down in its glory next to my husband's head. Service was warm, efficient, and attentive. Our waiter basically told what to order and we obeyed him, with excellent results. The one-page handwritten menu, helpfully available in English, presented the day's offerings and this preemptive list of disclaimers: No Pizza No Cappuccino No The Fork No Ice No Spritz No Ketchup FUCK CANCER There was a brief selection of Italian wines by the glass, and we got the Chianti Classico and the Bruno de Montalcino, both lovely. The food was delicious, starting with good bread and good olive oil. We ordered the mixed Tuscany salami and the beef carpaccio as appetizers, and they were both superb and not in the least bit redundant. There were four or five types of salami, every one of them fantastic, and I loved the thin, silky carpaccio, served with rucola, parmesan, olive oil, and black pepper. We shared two splendid pastas, spinach ricotta ravioli in a creamy rose tomato sauce and a hearty pappardelle with duck ragu. For dessert, we had the lush, irresistible raspberries tiramisu. I plan to come back to Florence one day, and will make a point of coming back to Vini e Vecchi Sapori. It's a special restaurant, the kind you hope to find in Italy, a welcoming place with lively ambiance and wonderful food.

Ordered the fresh pasta ravioli with pears and the baked tiramisu. Excellent, both of them. The people next to us had such a good meal they planned to return the next day for lunch. Five stars! But make a reservation or prepare to be disappointed...

We were disappointed from the moment we sat down. The outside patio is on a busy Piazza - and not one of the attractive historic ones. We asked if we could change to an inside table (much cuter on the inside with great kitchen smells) - we were told absolutely no even though it never got more than half full on the inside. We were then ignored for about 20 minutes and weren't even offered water. Finally got a teenager for a waiter who spoke passable English (menu is entirely in Italian) but couldn't give us much in the way of translations or recommendations. Our wine order was frowned upon by the owner but didn't offer an alternative ("I don't like that wine") - so why have it on your menu? We shared a pear pasta and lasagna - which were both good - and then ordered 2 large Florentine steaks to share. The steaks were disappointing - a lot of gristle and unevenly cooked - and we had had a fabulous one a week earlier at a Montepulciano restaurant so we knew what it should taste like. We were made to feel so special at multiple restaurants throughout our trip that the entire experience at 4 Leoni was a terrible letdown for all of us. Maybe an off night for them but there were too many negatives.

The steak came out with great presentation. Sizzling on a hot plat. Giant piece of meat. We easily finish all the meat, so it was good. The steak tasted normal though - not as beefy as dry aged beef, or not as flavorful at some other places i have tried (Porteno in Sydney), Just regular red meat taste. A little not salty enough. For sure not the best steak i have ever eaten. Probably due to the simple way how Florentine steaks are cooked. The tiramisu was also mid. Servers were somehow all non-Italian (Indians), so that gave me a touristy vibe. But whatever lol. Anyways, it was still a good dinner date overall, so just want to leave it at a positive note.

Since we knew we couldn't finish the gigantic Florentine steak, we opted for the rib eye steak. I was particularly impressed with the steak. It was surprisingly tough considering it was rib eye. Did not notice much marbling on the rib eye either. On the other hand, I did enjoy the Beef Ragu as it provided tender chunks of beef in a tomato and carrot based ragu sauce. Very tasty and the pasta was tender and good bite to it. The service was subpar and uneven for us. Nobody even acknowledged us for 10 min after we sat and I had to flag someone to help us. The waiter seemed disinterested and just asked whether we are ready to order. Seems like they didn't know who was supposed to serve my table. Oh well. Guess I won't be coming back give all the restaurant options in Florence.
