As we visited Florence for the second time, we wanted to try different local locations and we found this spot. On our daily walks we passed this location a couple of time and we decided to give it a try. The menu had some much variety. We had our fill of pasta for the week so we got the grilled pork chops and chicken. Both were delicious. We also had the assorted cheeses and cream brûlée . Also good. I recommend you give this spot a try.

Dry steak on bed of iceberg lettuce?

This is the worst meal we eaten in all of Italy! You're better off eating the donar across the street. The first tip off was that even the free bread was bad. The music was also just as unbearable. I mean who likes James Blunt covers? Let me begin to describe our 'meal'. The chicken we ordered was dry and cut into strips on to iceberg lettuce. Who does that?! The roasted vegetables and side order of potatoes were soaked in oil. The steak was over cooked to the point of not being able to chew it! We decided to leave without finishing our meal, something I never done before. If you're looking for an authentic Italian meal look elsewhere. Look at the pictures they speak for them-self, just stay away!!!

Patate Arrosto and Fileto di Manzo ai tre pepi at Trattoria Lo Stracotto...Delicious!

While I was staying at the Hotel Bretagna a few blocks away one of staff recommended Lo Stracotto and I must say I was very pleased that she did...Thank you Martina! She called ahead to make sure that the owner, Francesco Bonucci would spoil me. When I arrived, a pleasant table and a glass of Chianti were waiting and the meal was fantastic! After two delicious courses of soup I enjoyed the Patate Arrosto and Filetto di Manzo ai Tre Pepi...the roasted potatoes were very good but the fillet was probably one of the best I've ever had...it was cooked medium rare and served with another perfect Chianti...I would highly recommend that you visit Francesco and his superb staff at Trattoria Lo Stracotto on your next visit to Florence!

Mushroom flan with huge shavings of truffle on top.

Very tasty, simple food. The mushroom flan appetizer was delicious and was topped with a crazy amount of truffle shavings. My chicken entree was simple but enjoyable. For desert I had the chocolate "soufflé" which wasn't actually a soufflé but rather a chocolate lava cake. It was still good, but I was disappointed.

We LOVED our dinner here. It wasn't very busy or exciting looking, but our hotel staff recommended it highly and so we tried it. We were so glad we did!! The spinach, cheese, and butter sage ravioli was to die for. I would absolutely recommend the bolognese as well. Such a great spot, complete with cute outdoor seating and fast service.

Would give it zero stars if I could. You're better off going to McDonald's. Terrible staff and food.

There is seating inside for maybe a dozen people but we chose to sit at one of the 3 small tables outside to enjoy the nice weather. The owner and staff were fantastic, very knowledgeable and provided great recommendations. The wine bar itself is a small quaint little place. Probably seats about 12 to 15 people total and has plenty of windows so you can see passersby and people watch. The cheeseboard? Get the cheeseboard. They do a fantastic job of pairing everything together to really bring so many flavors to your tastebuds. Their house wine is phenomenal and they take great pride in finding the grapes/different varietals to make it come to life. They have a both a red and a white house wine option. The second time we went - and yes, we went more than once in the four days we were there - we enjoyed one of the sandwiches and it was absolutely amazing. The bread, I can't even explain, the bread it's so flavorful and so good and so light. That paired with the delicious meats and cheeses were 100% worth it. I definitely recommend this location to anybody who is visiting Florence regularly or for their first time.

The outside signs are all about the wine tasting and that was something I was not interested in. None of my group was actually into that either but they didn't want to wait to sit at the place we meant to go and this place had availability at that moment. They both were so gracious and knowledgeable, but also friendly and super funny. We didn't get the wine tasting but I heard them giving the people behind us one and I actually think I would have enjoyed it as well. The cocktails we did get were strong and delicious. With hosts like these, I'd come back here all the time.

November 7, 2024 7:30PM…read more The Osteria was really close to the duomo and the ambiance looked so cozy from the outside. We decided to stop in for some seafood items and white wine. This is the place where I ordered my first vermentino of my life and have forever changed since. I thought I was just a sauvignon blanc girlie but I think I love vermentino more. I didn't get a chance to take a photo of the mussels we ordered but both the mussels and the spaghetti alle vongole (Spaghetti with Clams) were so tasty. Met some new friends from England while were were here that's from similar area as my partner's ancestors... The service was amazing, the restrooms were clean. Definitely a nice pitstop before moving on to sightseeing near the Duomo for the evening. Really love their seafood dishes that we tried. I thought they were very reasonably priced but maybe it's because I'm from a landlocked state. :)

We got the Rosso di Montalcino 2024 and it was definitely one of the best glasses of wine I ever had. The steak we had was also amazing. It was tender and so flavorful. The potatoes were also fantastic! At the end of the meal, we had Vin Santo (dessert wine that you dip biscotti in). Very delicious, but very strong. Lastly, the server (maybe manager or owner) brought us out complimentary limoncello. It was also delicious. We definitely had to walk (or try to walk) it off after all that! I can't say enough about the food and service. We went to another steak place a few days before at Trattoria Dalloste. It was a couple of doors away from this place. The service and food didn't even compare to this place. We spent a lot more money for rubbery and fatty steak. They also tried to overcharge us. So, do yourself a favor and try La Cantinetta Osteria con Cucina. You won't be disappointed! If we ever go back to Firenze, we would go back to this restaurant in a heartbeat.

November 9, 2024 2:30PM…read more It does appear they have two stalls on the same street that you can order from. One side seemed to have more alcohol on display and the side I was on was more sandwich focused, but I'm pretty sure you can order the same things from both windows. Initially I was going to get the 21 - Fresh Sausage and Eggplant because I'm an eggplant lover... the lady at the counter was kind enough to let me know that the fresh sausage is actually rare, uncooked sausage and gave me a small piece to try. I was getting ready to get on a train that day and didn't want something that might not sit well with me, so I moved on to number 27 spicy salami and cream cheese. My partner got the number 1, ham, cream cheese and rocket salad. Both are very good sized and oh so delicious. The line moved quickly, so many options for decision paralysis. This is the place for schiacciate Florentine as recommended from friends who used to live here. Definitely would recommend to study up their menu before coming so it's easier to pick what you want. This is more of a stall and you grab and go, we stood around the sidewalk and inhaled our sandwiches. Watch out for the pigeons getting ready to take your crumbs too, you can see them on the ledge of the building getting ready to attack. A must visit for Florence.
