Beautiful place, beautiful view and beautiful food
    Lisa F.

Food, ambience and view were excellent ! So much so that we plan to come back and try their dinner menu . They open earlier than most breakfast places AND if you go when they open, you get a view !! Inside is for hotel guests so plan to sit outside but I'll take that all day long !!

We chilled here for a very hot, sweaty minute.

Pricey, but a great view. This is the Outdoor Café of the Portrait hotel, which is a five star beautiful hotel in Florence. We were here in June and it was really hot so we sat at the café for about an hour and had ice coffee and water to cool off. Sure, we paid a lot more for it but the waiters were handsome and kind and we got a really nice break from the heat. Plus you're just sitting there looking at all the beauty of Florence and people watching

    Short rib ravioli

This place was an oasis when we wanted off our feet & out of the cold (and not a tiny stool in a cramped corner!). It's spacious and cozy which already made me happy, and then came the food. We both got the short rib ravioli...oh my. It doesn't look like a lot of food but it was perfectly filling and the layers of flavor are wonderful. Even the basket of bread had enjoyable variety. We ended with the apple tart with grand mariner ice cream

The food here is amazing. Staff is very nice, but reviews say that they will not let you in if you are not staying at the nearby hotel. The restaurant is very nice and warm. It's really nice and good for breakfast

    Soft shelled crab

Hands down the best meal I've had in Italy to date. Every dish was a delight and the menu was inspiring from start to finish. The soft shelled crab was the perfect first bite and hard to find stateside so it really hit the spot. The Pappardelle with eggplant caviar was perfection on a plate and the duck was outstanding / highly highly recommend!

It was a bummer that I happened to order an underwhelming dish, supposedly the "famous" golden risotto. Way too salty and rice had too much core for my taste. So was my mother's seafood pasta (salty). My husband's sea bass was delicious. Service was definitely top notch, BUT they never asked how the dishes were, so I didn't get a chance to give them any feedback. I'm ready to leave and go get me some street gelato

Had lunch here with the Family and it was absolutely delicious. The food was amazing, the ambiance is elegant and sophisticate. A must when you come to Florence.

Danielle & Francesco were great. Best service I've had in Florence. Food presentation was very nice. Taste was excellent. Appetizer, pasta, main and dessert were all great! Had the Come una Caprese, Salmon Tartare, Trofie al Pesto Genovese, Spaghetti with garlic, Filet Mignon, Chocolate banana with Vanilla Ice cream and Tiramisu. Everything was delicious. I'm not a Tiramisu person, however decided to have one since in Italy and they said it was their best dessert. They were right. It was so delicious I finished it all. Wine suggestions were also great. Reservations recommended. We arrived early and got a table however saw many got turned away because it was fully booked.

    Fried dumplings & cured meats
    Carolina B.

Same chef as Michelin-starred BSJ across the river, Peter Brunel concocts seasonal dishes that satisfy the taste buds. This restaurant is part of the Lungarno Collection, which houses the Portrait Firenze hotel we were staying at. The breakfast buffet is pricey, but a spectacular set-up. We dined for lunch and started off with the fried dumplings & cured meats. The dumplings were interesting! Crunchy and flavorful. The cured meat was mouth-watering and satisfying. We went on to enjoy the Tuscan burger made with Chianina beef as well as the cuttlefish, fennel & citrus fruit salad. Both were on the small side, especially for the price, but absolutely excellent! The burger patty is super thick and bursting with flavor. An excellent ratio of meat-to-bun, great for those trying to cut carbs ;). The salad was light and refreshing, with perfectly balanced ingredients that created an impressionable dish. The service is courteous and welcoming. The setting is modern, clean and sophisticated, yet relaxing and quiet, with views of the Arno and Ponte Vecchio.

Then they made us sit at a tiny awkward table in the corner due to missing the reservation time. Again, this is while the entire room and all normal tables were empty. Only a couple of people arrived over the next hour. The atmosphere was very cool and the drinks were strong and delicious but 24 Euros each. Mixed experience for sure. We probably would have loved it and stayed longer had they just given us one of the many empty normal tables instead of punishing us for no reason.

Perfect for a date night or small get together. Thier choice in music was sensastional as well. The semi industrial look of the inside blends well with the exposes brick walls and the comic printing plates decorating where we sat. I got the lasanga, which was perfect. The cheese is so creamy with the contrast of the tart tomato sauce- I couldn't stop taking a bite when it was fresh from the oven, risking burns. Of the dishes my family ordered the other stand out was the carbonara. I cannot find words to describe how good the sauce was. Anyways it was such an experience that I'm writing this while wating for breakfast at Nostrale.

A taste of the states in Florence, Italy…read more Believe it or not, when you're traveling in Italy for 12 days and pretty much only drinking prosecco and aperol spritz's this was a WELCOME change of pace. P.S. if you didn't know, cocktail culture in Italy is not a thing. This was one of the ONLY cocktail bars we stumbled upon during our trip and the atmosphere brought us in from the street. The atmosphere is hipster, retro, memorable and fun! The cocktail list is TO DIE FOR. The owner who was serving us, spent two years in the states mastering the art to bring it back. The list was super creative and well balanced for the season and heat. I opted for a cocktail with fresh squeed Grapefruit, Gin, fresh JUNIPER BERRIES, rosemary and elderflower tonic. It was served in a giant wine glass with ice and they give you the tonic on the side so you can make it as strong as you want. I thought this presentation was lovely, whimsical and fun. The cocktail was one of the best I've ever had and that is saying A LOT. Since I've been back I cannot stop thinking about it. For my second I got a blackberry, sage drink. It was good, but not nearly as memorable as the first. The hubs got an aperol spritz again, and to finish we got some sparkling rose - perfect for a hot night. We just did not want to leave this place! The service, the quality, the atmosphere. This place is killer!
