It seems like a modest, local food trailer but the food coming out of here is a must. A choice of 8 incredibly flavored options plus their always decadent milkshakes, fries added under the hot dog, sides, and 12 additional topping options. This food as the kids say today slaps. With three grandkids visiting we found Copperline Smashburger to be perfect for the two teenagers. They shared an order of fries, and had ice cream. The eight year old, who doesn't usually eat much polished off a copper dog and a vanilla shake, as well as a few shared French fries. There was a line in the drive thru, and the place was busy, but we were waited on with courtesy, and it didn't take long to be served. One of Best burgers I've had and at a really good price plus the burgers were smash burgers. I can't believe it's taken me this long to try one. Holy Moly! This was probably one of the best burgers I've ever had. Spicy bacon... it was SO SOoooo good! The fries were pretty perfect, and the huckleberry shake was exactly right! I did try the fish sticks - I'd pass on those next time.... It the chicken strips were super tasty! High recommend! 3 stars because the burger wasn't bad. The guy that came from the back was very nice. The big guy standing at the cash register not helping me, not so much. They got my simple order wrong the first time. The Bison or Buffalo burger, I can't remember what they called it, not worth the $14 for a burger and no fries/drink. The burger itself wasn't bad tasting, it was lacking in the meat dept. though. The fries aren't very good, soggy and under cooked, I also didn't appreciate having to pay $3 for them separately. The "fresh" huckleberry shake that everyone in town so highly recommends.... Not fresh, it's a mix of some sort. And the sprinkles they put on it are gross. They gouged me for over $20, I sat alone in the dinning area, they had 1 or 2 customers come in while I was there. The dining area was clean. The place was well maintained. If the prices weren't so high, I would return. But more than $20 for a single meal from a burger joint doesn't make me feel like I had a good value. read more

4 1/2 out of 5. You order, pull around to the back, and wait till they bring out your order. We did. We had the Pork Chop Sandwiches and a Huckleberry Shake. The sandwiches reminded us of Sarah's Porkies, sadly now closed for years. These are the best Pork Chop offerings this side of the Freeway Tavern (Muzzie's) in Butte. I almost wept when Sarah's closed and have suffered with the poor Porkies offerings we have tried in Helena ever since. Not any more. They have the best porkie in Helena since Sarah's porkies closed. Double bacon cheeseburger is one of the better burgers in Helena. Just leave the ketchup or mustard of, they put way too much on there. The fries are ok, I ask for well done and make sure you ask for salt. A couple times they didn't salt the damn fries! If this place was where I live it would be on my frequent go to list. 4 stars because 1 burger was missing its bacon and we were talked into only ordering 1 order of fries(which was enough for 2 people), were charged for 2 orders, but only received 1 order. If you order online they currently give you a free $3 French fries which were worth paying for and even more delicious for free! The burger was out of this world!!! Burger sauce is delicious!!! The Hardware Copperline owners are not new to the restaurant business, owning The Hardware Cafe in Montana City (4 stars on yelp) as well. The Hardware Copperline has a simple menu but the quality is high and it is all being served quickly by very friendly staff. Options are cheeseburgers, porkies, chicken sandwiches, and fries with cans of soda for drinks. Primarily a drive thru business, The Hardware Copperline also offers a walkup area. While it didn't appear to be open yet in the cold of winter it appears that a small patio will be available for those who want to sit and enjoy their meal outside. I think this will become quite popular because these sandwiches and the poutine are much to large to be able to eat while driving. If you're stopping at The Hardware Copperline find a place to park and eat or take it home with you, you're going to need both hands. We had the Maple Bacon Burger, the Classic Burger, and a side of poutine. Both burgers are double patties, appear to be cooked in the smash burger style on a griddle with a toasted brioche bun. The burgers were quite large and filling with quality fresh ingredients. The Maple Bacon Burger had a large helping of bacon on top. I believe the "maple" of the maple bacon was a bit of maple syrup added to the top of the burger as it seemed that most of the maple flavor was concentrated in the middle of the burger and coming from the bun rather than the bacon. For my personal preference I would ask if the maple can be skipped, but I'm just not a big fan of maple to begin with. By the time I was finishing the burger the maple was becoming overpowering for my tastes and reminded me of a McGriddle breakfast sandwich rather than the high quality burger that this is. I would not hold this against The Hardware Copperline at all, I know I'm not a fan of maple and ordered it anyways just to see how it was. The poutine is large enough to be a full meal in itself. Two of us tried to split it and after our burgers there was no way we could get around all of the poutine. Each and every fry was covered with brown gravy that had good sized pieces of meat in it and there was a large helping of fresh cheese curds tossed in. Yes, these cheese curds squeak as they should. I need to mention that we did not receive forks with our poutine, which will be necessary to eat this due to all the tasty gravy. We had taken our meals to a park to eat, so the lack of forks was a pretty big miss for us (we were able to source them from a place near the park so disaster was averted). This could be the best poutine in town except for one issue; Unfortunately for us the poutine was far too salty for our taste. There is a lot of promise in this poutine, so I think it is worth ordering and I plan on trying it again, but this particular serving could have been improved by cutting back on the salt. Overall; this is a very good place to grab a quick burger and go. Portions are huge, they are clearly using quality ingredients, and the staff is wonderful. I have a couple of very minor gripes, so I feel I can't give a full five stars. However this is a brand new place so I suspect during my next visit things will be ironed out a little more and I'll come back to edit this into five stars. The potential is definitely there. The Hardware Copperline proudly boasts that they have the best burgers in town, and I'd say they could definitely give anyone, anywhere, a run for their money. I will be back, very soon. Excellent burger, I ordered a single, they are normally double patties, so glad I did, the cooked burger patty was larger than the bun - when was the last time you saw that!! I still couldn't finish my whole burger, which my dog was very happy to help me finish it! Husband had a mushroom swiss burger & said it was excellent. Now for fries, fresh cut fries that were well seasoned & a huge amount - way more than the 2 of us could eat for $3! We sat on their patio and the staff said we could let our dog sit with us outside. We will definitely stop again when coming through Helena. read more
