Had the Trinity with dirty rice and a side of mac n'cheese. The trinity consisted of sausage, pulled pork and burnt ends. Very, very dry. Not sure what the mac was but it was okay and the dirty rice was not only dirty but a dry clump of rice. Left with my stomach crying "WHY?" later on. Fortunately no accidents if you know what I mean. I stopped by for dinner after seeing the high ratings on Yelp. I ordered the combo platter ($13) which includes both brisket and pulled pork so I could try different things. The entire platter was covered in sauce so which if you're not a fan you should ask to get it on the side. I thought the pulled pork was a bit dry and needed the sauce to go down easier. The brisket was just okay as well. For my side I ordered the mac n cheese which was also a bit dry. I don't know if these were more dry because I came here closer to the end of the day so maybe they were sitting out a bit longer. Other people have also said here that the meat is a bit dry. Overall I wasn't very impressed with what I ordered which was disappointing given all the good reviews. read more

Now this is BBQ! The brisket was incredible! The pork?! I could not stop eating it! The dirty rice was dirty! Had a great kick to it. I even had the raw onions and pickles which added à nice sweet / tang addition. Came with toast which I had no room for. Hubby ordered the same with an addition of ribs which were cooked to perfection. They have a great BBQ sauce to boot with it, which in all honesty you dont need. And the price?? Amazing! Stopped at Bad Betty's in Helena on a drive from Bozeman to Glacier. The food was great - would say the BBQ is closest to Texas stuyle. Sides were also great. My husband got a special of the day which was mango pulled pork tacos and they were delish! Service was super friendly and I love that they have Pride gear openly displayed! Spacious inside and some outdoor seating was available as well. The place is clearly popular - we arrived at 1pm and they were out of a number of meats after a busy lunch rush and actually closed early at 2pm because of this (may explain other reviews below stating hours are wonky... seems like if they sell out they close up shop!). Fast and friendly - definitely stop here instead of some fast food joint if eating in Helena! read more

The name made me stop! BTW - both my RV GPS and Google maps steered us wrong on this hidden gem. The staff could not have been nicer and more helpful for us first-timers. We just wanted to try everything. They were really accommodating! So the hubby got the combo plate with pulled pork, brisket and sausage, with banana pudding as his side. I just went crazy and had the Mac Daddy with brisket- piled on Mac and cheese and wicked beans, the topped with slaw! It was HUGE. Surprisingly good all mixed together. Half- way through, I wish I had asked them to hold the beans and slaw, so I could really taste the Mac and the brisket. Definitely too much for one person. Pulled pork was tender and moist, but it lacked a bit in smoked flavor. We even thought it almost tasted like turkey. Brisket was lean and tasty, the sausage crisp, juicy and flavorful. Really good barbecue. They were out of a lot when we went, got hit with a big catering job so I'll give them that. The meats were good nice smokey flavor, tender and juicy. The BBQ sauce had a really good flavor. Thre right amount of sweet and heat. A couple things knocked off a star for me. They don't have corn bread and they don't toast the Texas toast, it was Texas bread. Pros: Food quality is good. In my opinion, ribs and chicken were superb. Corn bread, beans were good. Brisket and slaw were so so. Everything was priced reasonably. Con: They ran out of pull pork around 4 PM when my friend ordered it which I thought was pretty early to be running out of such an essential stuff, inadequate seating, high chairs/low table, no BBQ sauce available. We were the only customers in the restruant. The staff was very friendly. They took our order politely and efficiently. I really like ribs. These were meaty and moist. Sadly the rub was too hot for me so I could not eat them. The sauce was sweet. My husband had the chicken. He liked it and finished my ribs as well. The chicken came with two sides; beans and slaw.
