We ordered 2 Fish Tacos. Only one was in the bag. We made the discovery at home. The flour tortilla was ice cold...never warmed. We also order a Taco Salad consisting of a shell, chopped iceberg lettuce., a tablespoon of hamburger mix, a tablespoon of cheese and salsa and we paid over $20! Their hard shell tacos should be studied in a lab because somehow, they discovered a way to make water flavored beef. They are way overpriced as well. The only thing that was good were the potatoes...which doesn't come with cheese you have to order nacho cheese as extra. One dipping cup is like a $1.50. Completely surprised, I haven't been to one since the location in Butte closed. Wasn't exactly thrilled with it. The Helena location was super clean, staff was energetic , and the food was very good. Highly recommend you try this location if you haven't been there for awhile. read more

Went to get dinner. I have a gift card to use. The employees can't figure out how to use a gift card and pay the rest on a different card so they just said they don't allow you to or can't pay for orders with more than one card. So, we have to order exactly the price of the gift card to use it? Make sure we are carrying cash? You are the only major food chain in the US that can't use a gift card and pay the rest of the bill with another card? I have never had that happen before. This is lazy or untrained staff. I would rather you just give me cash for the gift card now since you basically refused to let me use it. read more

I wanted to share an experience I had while dining at Taco John's this past Saturday. I witnessed a situation that left a strong impression on me. A father and daughter came in, and I couldn't help but feel sympathy for his daughter. The father was extremely rude to the staff, making a scene over what appeared to be a simple request for extra meat. He seemed very upset with the amount he received, repeatedly insisting that "the customer is always right," and expressing dissatisfaction in a very unruly manner toward both the assistant manager and the manager. Both managers handled the situation very professionally and did not let this arrogant man ruffle them. It was disheartening to see someone behave that way, especially in front of his daughter. I just thought it was worth mentioning, as it reflects poorly not just on him but also on how behaviors affect those around us. read more

Over the last month we have ordered beef burritos to go. We always get take out and the burritos are for the next day. Three (3) times in the last month we have gotten bean burritos instead of beef burritos. This let time not only were the burritos wrong but also a cheese and chicken quesadilla had no chicken on it. We live 13 miles out of town so, even if we had the burritos the same day, it is very inconvenient to go back for replacements. Gave one star as the rest of the order was correct. Also, the person taking the order each time had it correct. It is the staff making the burritos and quesadillas that are getting it wrong. read more

Went to Taco Johns Tuesday. Ordered bean and cheese burrito and got it twice with meat. Ordered chicken quesadilla and got one with no chicken. Got a replacement but was not cut into wedges. Ordered chicken and potato burrito ad got some grilled something. Potato-oles were cold and also the cheese. When the orders were done they had the wrong name on it. Two thing we ordered were right. If you're expecting South-of-the-border flavor, you'll be very disappointed. I don't know who Taco John is but I don't think this guy has ever been south of anywhere. Typical fast food. The Ole potatoes were pretty good but they're just the tater tots that you can find at Burger King. The oil they fry them in triggered my eczema. A medium size provides a lot of potatoes. They dont skimp. They offer sauce: nacho cheese, sour cream or guacamole but they charge you $.99 Both the nacho cheese & guacamole were decent. I suppose that because the combo prices are so low they up charge for everything else. The breakfast burritos were totally disappointing. They clearly don't know how to roll a burrito properly. Or season their food for that matter, because the filling was bland as all heck. The only thing that had any flavor was the nacho cheese. I know many reviewers have complained about long wait times & I have seen that during peak times but with Taco John's being one of the only drive through restaurants in the area, that's understandable. I went in the AM & was able to order & get my food within 10 mins (which probably isn't a good thing haha). You get what you pay for here: cheap food, cheap quality. They only thing worth it are the employees who are hard working. Customer service is good. read more

I've eaten at many Taco John's over the years. I thought surely the couple of complaints about wait time would be exceptions. Maybe so, but I just had the same super long (30 min) wait as others, and watched one of the workers take a long smoke break with a car of friends that pulled up. Maybe it was a scheduled break for them, maybe it's understaffed. But be prepared to wait for your food a VERY long time. read more

Taco John's has been my go to for fast food Mexican, but my last order made me rethink that, since all the tacos and burritos were deluged with a ton of water. The last time I looked water was not an ingredient in any of those items. Next time it's definitely Taco Bell. read more

Yet again, for the -I don't even know how many times- they forgot all of our sauces. Doesn't help we had to repeat the order three times to them through the drive-thru, and twice at the window. They even asked what sauce we would like at the window! Doesn't help that when we pulled up, they were standing around and goofing off. In a weak, hungry moment I swerved into the Taco John's on North Montana. Overpriced -almost $7 for a small drink, over-salted potato somethings, and 2 small tacos.In fact, it seemed as if the lid to the salt shaker had been left off altogether - food actually burns your mouth- 2 tacos with nothing but a little burger, liquid cheese, and iceberg lettuce shreds.
