I'm in Montana for work and some locals I told I wanted to visit Helena recommended this place to me. After seeing some reviews I was a little cautious but I had faith. It's hidden away in Reeder's Aly, this cool old timey looking area. I wish I had a gallon tub of this Mac n cheese holy cow was it good. Brisket was dry and a bit tough. It was decent, and had good flavor. The sides would have been better if I had a spood or SOMETHING to eat them with. However I did take out, i left e 15% tip for it and there was no flat wear or even a napkin. i believe people today do this if they feel you do not tip enough! tipping today is overated! read more

I've tried them several times & their food is pretty dissapointing. The pulled pork & brisket are tender but hella underseasoned. Very bland. The coleslaw was also very bland & overly bitter. The Mac & cheese mix was ohhhhkkkkaaayyyy but the noodles were undercooked. I just don't know how these restaurants keep getting away with serving bad food. Wow! Goood BBQ! There were three in our party. We had the brisket, pulled pork and smoked chicken. It was superb! The cole slaw, baked beans and macaroni and cheese were also very good. We felt we got quite a bit of food for our money. We will definitely go again. read more

If I were to base my rating solely on the food, they would deserve five stars, hands down. We ordered the green Chile pork breakfast burrito & the brisket breakfast sandwich. Both were extremely delicious. I'm only giving 2 stars because we had to wait over 45 minutes to get our food ... in the drive thru. I had a feeling it was going to be a long wait when the lady on the ordering speaker said, "I'll help you when I can". I understand, especially with how our economy is now, that everyone is short staffed but if she would've let me know before hand that it was going to be a long wait, my expectations would've been better managed. To add, the lady taking our order didn't hear our drink order correctly and then tried to give us something we definitely didn't order or want. They did offer me a refund but not until after she'd accused me of ordering the drinks she was trying to offer. I would order from here again, but I'd make sure to order it as take-out. read more

All of my food was cold and flavorless. My Mac n cheese was ice cold when I received it and it tasted like nothing. The cheese sauce had no flavor. It had a little bit of spice, but I tasted like nothing. The Mac n cheese would have been better plain and straight out of the water. There was absolutely no salt which made it even worse. The ribs were also ice cold, bland, and downright terrible. I am extremely disappointed considering the reviews said this place was really good. As soon as I saw my meal, I knew that I was going to be disappointed, and I wasn't wrong. I will not be returning for this "BBQ" again. They need to go to the south and get some experience because this is a pretty piss poor excuse for BBQ. This is a disgrace to all BBQ. read more

I'd rather say zero stars but cannot choose zero...we were passing thru and decided to try this ...crappy expensive food....filthy floors, full trash cans .....coleslaw was nothing but chopped cabbage and mayo....chicken was leg meat just stripped off the bone, ligaments skin and all. $28.00 for two of us and it was not worth eating.....still went away hungry...I would not recommend ....for it being the "it" place in Helena, and for the bank investing in it to bring it on their facility ....wrong pick farmers state bank..try again .. read more

Finally got to try rockstar BBQ. It did not disappoint. Can't wait to go back and try it again. I highly recommend it.

We stopped into the Rockstarr BBQ today and were not impressed at all. The meats were ok but dry, the cole slaw tasted like it was spoiled, and the BBQ sauce was awful. We paid $24 for two sandwiches and didn't even get a drink. We will not be going back as there are other very good BBQ places in Helena. read more

To call this the best BBQ in Helena would be doing Chris a disservice. His brisket is the best we've ever tasted (and we've tried a lot of bbq joints from across the US!) and we seek out his trailer wherever he pulls up.
