Copper Still has been in Old Town Monrovia for less than a year, and best way to describe it is it's another sports bar. In the center is a bar, with big screens above, viewable from almost all angles of the restaurant. Besides bar seating, there are many 4 seater tables and booths. There is also an upstairs section, I'm assuming for when they get really packed. The ceiling of almost the entire downstairs is lined with colorful upside down umbrellas, giving this place a cheerful vibe. But we didn't feel it. We came here for lunch on a weekday. Needless to say, it wasn't busy at all. Entering, a gal was behind the bar and made no eye contact or asked us to seat ourselves, so we picked a booth. She came by with menus shortly after. Knowing the food would be heavy, we came in starving, and ordered a Copper burger, blackened chicken sandwich and the nachos with a passion berry iced tea. The burger came on a fresh and rather large brioche. The meat itself was gray in color and had no flavor, though we asked for medium rare. And it's definitely not cooked over an open flame. We could barely taste the meat itself. The blackened chicken came a fresh, large ciabatta (see the pattern here?) There was so much slaw that its flavor dominated the sandwich, and completely masked the flavor of the very thin piece of bland chicken breast. But the sides of fries were good at least. I should've studied the menu closer because our nachos contained no meat. None. Even Taco Bell gives you meat, don't they? But we were so hungry, we just kept eating since it was the first item they brought out. There were no condiments on the tables, maybe because they have so much confidence in their food, but after eating a few bites, we gave up. We decided to bring the food back and try to rescue it by seasoning it ourselves. Even a bit of salt & pepper was an improvement. Only one gal worked the floor of a few occupied tables. After we got our food, she never came by except to bring us boxes for the food we chose not to finish, and our bill. The table next to us was offered a refill on her iced tea, but not me ... even though my glass was sitting empty very visibly on the edge of the table. Perhaps their more lively times are during happy hours or when there are playoff games on. And their colorful umbrellas are to promote that fun atmosphere, but we sure didn't feel any. I'm not trying to trash this place. But since Yelp's 2 star represents 'I've had better' Copper gets a 2 based on my experience. See my photos! read more

Honestly haven't had the chance to try any of the food here. I've been here on two occasions: First was St Patty's Day for a friends birthday and the second was two nights ago. Each time the service was beyond our expectation. I mean it was crazy on St Patty's Day but we still got exceptional service. Recently my husband and a friend visited Copper Still on a Monday night just for fun. Special shoutout to our bartender LUCAS! My husband gave his trust to Lucas in making the decision on our shots. Lucas ended up making us some amazing mixed shooters. If I remember correctly, they were: White Gummy, Pink Starburst, Sour Apple, and a Watermelon surprise?!?!.....they were all delicious! It was just a random night out for us folks but Lucas sure made it memorable. I have been frequenting this restaurant for over a year now and it never disappoints. There is quite the sports bar menu but with great food for the price. The super cheap happy hour menu is incredible quality. Not to mention the nachos are actually good! Not the easy ones you can make at home. Staff is great and helpful. The place is clean. The decorations are great and themed with the cutest umbrellas on the ceiling. What else could you ask for. Super solid place to watch a game or have some drinks and fun food. We ordered and shared the Margarita pizza, cajun linguini and jambalaya plates. Elijah: The food was very okay. It tasted mostly like the kind of grub that keeps the drinks coming, since this place is a bar/restaurant. All the dishes just generally lacked some flavor. There was no real spice or seasoning to the cajun linguini. The jambalaya was over white rice. And the tomatoes, (boiled) chicken, sausage, and bacon were really just toppings on the rice. Nothing was infused. The pizza was the best thing. It was very akin to the custom order pizzas from places like Blaze or Pizza Rev, and it was made to order so it was served piping hot, which was great. Seems like this place tries to be a little more sophisticated than your average sports bar, offering options for a few different appetites, but they probably do bar food the best: burgers and fries, apps, and pizza. Service was nice and courteous though. Dalena: I agree that the entrees are pretty average. I don't think CSG is pushing for them anyways, but I thought we'd give it a shot. Fairly under-seasoned and over-dressed across both entrees apart from the Neapolitan pizza, which is hard to mess up. It felt a lot like cafeteria/dining hall food, which isn't the most terrible thing. All in all, I think most people would and should stick to the appetizers and drinks. I like how central CSG is in Old Town Monrovia, and how it has a very open/inviting atmosphere. They have a decent happy hour and also a pretty good selection of alcohol. The drinks themselves are good if you order something pretty standard, but definitely not a place for craft cocktails (which is totally ok). The food is definitely more on the "bar food" spectrum. It can be pretty heavy, but not bad in terms of flavor. I've had the nachos, the jambalaya and the hot fudge brownie (dessert) for food options, and the margarita and the blood orange cider for drinks. Nothing was 'wow' worthy, but also nothing was bad. Pretty middle-of-the-road. Prices are pretty reasonable, so that was nice! They also have TVs for people watching a game! Me, my gf and friends came here for the first time and our experience was terrible. There was a random woman that came to our table and questioned us "how long were you here at this table?", "when are you guys leaving?", and "where do you guys live?" Me and my boss decided to go to this place for happy hour drinks. Parking was easy to find. This place is in Downtown Monrovia. I entered and the vibe was great. Lots of seats, we decided to sit at the bar. The bartender was quick to place our orders and was very attentive. I ordered an IPA beer and it was really good. I saw the business getting ready the months leading up to their October grand opening and enjoyed the food they hosted at the Taste of Old Town Monrovia event. With them fully open now, BF and I stopped by for a late lunch on Saturday, though not late enough for their 3 pm happy hour! =p We had picked out the Hickory BBQ cheeseburger ($11) and chicken pot pie ($14), but our server Megan informed us that the pot pie was all sold out. =/ I subbed in the meatball sandwich ($9). Both burger and sandwich came with fries. Food was okay, hence the 3 stars. BF was disappointed that the meatball sandwich was a bit plain with just three meatballs for $9. However, the visit still felt like a 4 star visit because of the service - 5 full stars. Megan was friendly, courteous and did not leave us hanging when needed. I do want to come back to check out their happy hour menu to experience some more items beyond the two we tried. Decent new sports bar in Old Town Monrovia. We watched Game 1 of the World Series here, and to our surprise found a decent seat for the game. Their happy hour runs until 7PM, which is a plus side in comparison to the other bars in the area which end at 6. The burgers and wings were really delicious, but the fries and the chicken bites were subpar. They didn't taste fresh. Upon walking in, you can kind of tell that it is a new establishment, considering that it feels like there is still a lot of empty space. Good spot for sports! read more

I've come in friends to have drinks and everyone on the staff have been excellent. I decided to host a event for a friend here for about 30 people. They reserved the upstairs area for us. The staff, food, drinks were all excellent. Friends asked me where to have a event for a birthday party and hosted it here. The staff was again on top of things and took care of all 35 of us. The owner Steve was very attentive of our needs and Kelly the bartender made sure everything ran smoothly. I highly recommend this place if you want to have a get together with 40 or less people. Was fortunate enough to be invited to the soft opening of this new restaurant, Copper Still Grill, in Monrovia last night. The restaurant actually plays as a bar, which has been placed in the middle of the establishment and had multiple tv screens hanging above to view any of the particular games that are on for the night. I really loved the simple decor that I believe helps lend to the copper part of the place's name. They also have an upper floor that they will still be working on, which will include games like billards and karaoke for the customer's enjoyment. My boyfriend had come in later than the time of the event, but my mom was able to place our order, so we wouldn't have to wait to long for our food to arrive. I wasn't able to look at the menu for myself, but it looks like they have American-themed foods, such as burgers and steaks along with some seafood items, based on what the servers were carrying to the tables since we were seated near the kitchen door. Someone had us try the deviled eggs they order, which supposedly came with 5 different flavors, but they left us with three different ones: the basic one, one that had guacamole in the middle, and the other was one that was pinkish and beet flavored. I hate beets, but out of the three we tried, the beet one was surprisingly my favorite. Our food finally arrived and looked really good. I ended up getting the salmon with a Greek-like dip on top (the one with dill and yogurt mixed together), grilled asparagus, and onion rings. My boyfriend got a burger with onion rings. His burger was a little bit too red still for my liking, but the flavors were really good with the help of the sauce. But the salmon was hands down my favorite with that dip on top. It was flaky, cooked perfectly, and I love the crunchy skin on the side. Overall, a good experience. They have a few kinks to fix, but they are on their way to great success with the food and service they are currently providing and improving on. read more

So far so good. Met with the manager Dave regarding coordinating a baby shower event. It was a great meeting with lots of full size platters of food provided to my wife and I to try for the baby shower. The price point was exactly on budget for us. Communication throughout the process has been excellent. Stopped in on there grand opening and got the pretzel and bratwurst. The pretzel was fresh, big and fluffy and paired nicely with the bratwurst along with the dipping sauces. The copper still burger was soo good and the french fries were nice and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and seasoned perfectly. The salad with there special dressing was excellent and fresh. The female bartender krystal made me an awesome legit old fashion with the single block ice. The mule i ordered at the grand opening was small, in comparison to other locations like yardhouse. Hopefully they improve on the size of the mule (too much ice). I've been here a couple times for lunch and decided to bring my entire team here for the Trivia Night. Happy hour was AMAZING and food was delicious. Meatloaf was just OK, but all in all it was a great experience. Kelley was such a good server taking care of us! The music is so loud you can't even hear yourself talk, it's so damn loud you come out of there feeling annoyed. The bar is very clean and the atmosphere is unmatched by any other place on Myrtle Ave. Most importantly I have to shout out the special group of mixologist behind the bar here at copper they are experts at their craft. The bar is clean and the beer is cold and they can make whatever you want and make it with precision. I highly recommend Copper Still Grill it's easy to see that they care about their customers whether they're new or a regular. read more
