This restaurant is close to where I was working today so I chose it for lunch. I am glad I did! It was fairly busy but the staff was keeping things moving nicely. I ordered the Philly Chesesteak. What a delicious sandwich. Fresh soft foccacia bread griddled to a yummy buttery crunch. Lean roast beef with sauted onion pepper hiding under the melty cheese. An aromatic garlic aioli finished off the bundle of awesomeness. I ordered the tots with ranch. Ranch was luscious with a tang of dill. The only reason I could not go to 5 stars was that the toys were nice and crispy but were not very hot. Go there now and try that chesesteak! read more

My husband and I stopped here on a Monday for lunch. They had recently changed the restaurant from Copper Lantern, and possibly revamped the place. It looked nice inside, and was well decorated. I was not feeling well, so I just had a turkey sandwich. It was fine, but I probably wouldn't get it again, I usually like trying different things. My husband had the Woodlands Omelette. It was good. It looked kind of small, but perhaps because it was folded in half. Our service was amazing! Our server was right on top of everything, and the other server stepped in if he needed help. Mrs. Carnivore and I were heading for a day trip to Parts Unknown, MN, and our travel took us by this gem of a place that The Carnivore learned was under new management. The credentials and history of the new owner, despite her familial connections to the previous owner, had the Carnivore a bit worried. The new owner seems (from reading interviews and biographical information, I have never met her) to be someone that would absolutely ruin what the Copper Lantern was. The Copper Lantern was, you see, an absolutely perfect place to get a real, genuine American breakfast, which the Carnivore has consumed many of at that establishment. It was folksy and functional, a bit worn looking but not in a run-down sort of way. The concern given the new owner's history with rich folks and upscale things was that she would kill a decades old gem and do something fancy instead. The Carnivore somehow managed to apparently not review the Copper Lantern once upon a time, for which I apologize to the previous owners. It would have been a solid, unquestioning 5 star affair. The inside is now nearly unrecognizable, but in a good way. The feel is far more upscale than the fare, but that isn't a complaint unless the fare changes. The food is exactly as it was a long time ago, but now adult beverages are available. It looks really nice! After seating Mrs. Carnivore and a confused looking Carnivore, the friendly and attentive staff was interrogated concerning the food, and we were assured that the awesome food I remembered was still coming out of the kitchen. It is. Staff was all super friendly and appeared to be having a good time. Our food arrived quickly. Copper Kitchen has the best pancakes I can recall eating. I am fussy about pancakes and there are a number of places they can go wrong, from something that imparts an aluminum taste (a certain type of baking powder, perhaps) to the inexplicable and inexcusable abuse of adding vanilla. Vanilla is at home in french toast, but not a pancake. Savages. Back to breakfast. The carnivore is particular about eggs in a way that most cooks do not care for, but Copper Kitchen delivered them as requested. Toast was perfect, real butter was present, hash browns were great. Sausage was great. Mrs. Carnivore enjoyed every aspect of her breakfast as well. It is the correct opinion, which is near as close enough to be factual, of the Carnivore, that while there may be another breakfast in Saint Cloud that might rival Copper Kitchen, there is definitely no breakfast in Saint Cloud that is better than Copper Kitchen. If you are in Saint Cloud for any reason and in need of breakfast, this is your first option. At the time of this review, there is some road construction happening as the idiots at MNDOT (not the folks in green and orange) try to ruin yet another road, but this annoyance will not hinder your access to and from Copper Kitchen. I came by for breakfast this morning, looking forward to good food and hoping to get some work done while I ate. I was disappointed to learn there is no public WiFi. Was also sad to hear they don't carry cold-brew coffee. Both of these were minor issues, What I can't abide is serving old/sour iced tea at 8am. Make your tea fresh daily people! It's not that expensive. Also the food was incredibly bland, although well prepared. I know they own salt and pepper, I see it on the table. Somebody should tell them that food tastes better if you season it. Thankfully they had some Cholula to add flavor. The service and ambience were great, but I came here for food and WiFi. This IS the place for breakfast. I had a special 2 with a caramel roll, coffee, OJ. Wow! Their breakfast sausage is unbeatable, as is the roll. Service exceptional! What a perfect cafe. Don't pass up this place when looking for a great breakfast in St Cloud. A++ read more

Me and couple of my girlfriends had breakfast here on Saturday. The restaurant was packed during the weekend. The food was pretty delicious. Service is fast and serious but the staff is somewhat unwelcome. Be mindful of their breakfast special menu on the table, you'll somewhat get a good breakfast without paying too much. read more

I went to the Copper Kitchen for my birthday back in September. I was with my parents. The servers were super friendly and patient with us (especially with my father, who was on a weird diet at the time). Does not seem friendly to single diners. Stopped for breakfast to see the new remodeling. Place does look nice. Was seated and coffee was delivered fairly quickly but with few words spoken. After that, I might as well have been invisible as no employee even seemed to look my direction. People were seated at several more tables/booths after me, their orders were taken, and their food delivered. After about 30 minutes I went to the front desk/cash register. I even had to stand at the counter for what seemed like an unusually long time before someone noticed me. They seemed confused I didn't have a slip, so pointed out I was never really served, etc. and I paid for my coffee and left. read more
