One of my favourite dinner spots in Squamish. Perfect spot in the city to enjoy the summer/warm patios. Some weekends are busier than others and it really depends on the time of day. We always come here to grab dinner; much better option than sitting in traffic on the sea to sky. Our friends live in the city and they recommended the classic poutine with an add on of the brisket. Once we tried that, we've never ordered anything else. The dish is comforting, cheesy, and the brisket - oh the brisket is one of the better ones we've tried in Squamish. Flavourful and not chewy at all. The price of the poutine is close to the price of their "regular" meals, so don't expect this to be a side dish! read more

BBQ place in the middle of downtown(?) Squamish. Parking is plentiful on the street. Small towns are awesome. Looks like it's one of the more popular local joints. Place was packed. There is a NW facing patio which is really nice for summer evenings. The place is Cajun themed. Basically Tex-Mex. Service is friendly but slow. I had the 1/2 rack of ribs and brisket. Comes with fries and coleslaw. Special mention for the brisket. Nice and juicy and not dry. Fries were decent too. Coleslaw was okay. Only complaint was that it took almost 45 minutes for the food to arrive. Pretty sure the kitchen was slammed all evening. So not too big of a deal. Pretty solid place for BBQ. I'd come back. Squamish isn't the sleepy pit stop it used to be. The mountains haven't changed--they're still towering, cinematic--but the town beneath them has. Yoga studios, kombucha taps, curry shops, Korean fried chicken. The flavours have moved in, and with them, the sense that Squamish has gone from way-station to destination - sort of. As the capital of outdoorsy-ness, there are no shortage of socks and sandals portagers and Lululemon stretched way too tight for safety reasons - yikes! After a long day scrambling up rock or slogging down a trail, you don't want fusion or finesse. You want a beer, maybe two, and a plate of meat that tells you you've earned it. Copper Coil Still & Grill "should" be that place. It looks the part: big wood tables, the scent of smoke, a row of taps that promise satisfaction. And to its credit, the beer holds up--cold, clean, local. No complaints there. The food, though? That's where things fall apart. The BBQ comes out looking the way BBQ should, but the bite doesn't match the expectation. The flavors are timid--like they stopped short of committing. Ribs and brisket without conviction. Not bad, just uninspired. Which is, in some ways, worse. Oddly enough, the standout wasn't the smokehouse stuff--it was the hummus and tzatziki dip, bright and fresh and full of life. The kind of small surprise that reminds you someone back there is trying to be 2025's creative and if only they'd lean in a little harder into the modern. So yeah--Copper Coil is fine. Good beer, nice people, easy vibe. But in a town that's learning to take its food seriously, "fine" doesn't cut it anymore - even for a pub! Good enough is OK... yesterday. I came on a quiet Monday afternoon. I was seated on the lovely patio right away but it took the server ten minutes to come over and didn't even offer water. She took my order with a smile and the food came quickly. I ordered the black and blue burger without the bun. The cheesy sauce was amazing but the ingredients were a bit scant. Our first stop for food in Squamish and we were let down by all the other places we went to.... The poutine (mini) was so good we tried poutine at two other places after here and they just weren't as good. This didn't even have all the toppings as it was the mini version. We think the cajun fires had something to do with it but regardless, best one we tried so far. The jambalaya was out of this world, with a side of cornbread 10/10. The only reason I didn't order this was because I didn't want anything too heavy and so I settled with the cajun falafel salad and was still amazed. It was delicious and tasted so fresh and filling. We wished we had time to come by here again because their draft beers were also amazing. I tried their IPA and got two rounds of that. The inside is nicely decorated and has a warm feeling to it. On a recent trip to Vancouver/Whistler, this might be one of my favorite meals. Just an underrated gem in a small town that could be easily overlooked. We came by on a weekday on a late fall day and got seated under the heaters in their enclosed porch. Service was Uber friendly and the beer selection was strong. We got the poutine which was one of the best examples of this dish I can recall eating. Full of gravy, cheese, meat, it was so huge too! The jambalaya was even better with the right mix of spice, heat and flavors. Huge shrimp and chicken and sausage, my only complaint is I was so full afterwards because I had to try to eat it all! Today I did a runaway from the big city to Squamish, just to eat something with friends. We found out this restaurant as a recommendation and when we got here, we just loved it! The restaurant has a cool decoration inside and out. It was raining and they have patio with heats and blankets available. The food was very good, but I'm not sure why I don't get any barbecue sauce with all of the meat that I've purchased. They gave me one tiny container of barbecue sauce and charged $1.50 for another small one. Stop being so cheap with your barbecue sauce and maybe I'll come back. read more

Good bbq | one of our go-to spots $$ We've been here a handful of times during the last few climbing trips to Squamish. It's easily one of our go-to picks within our group. We always order their smoked brisket and pulled pork. They give good portions, so we end up taking some home unless I split the plate with my husband. It comes with cornbread, slaw or beans, and fries. I liked the seasoned fries. Their meat is cooked just how I like it, tender and goes well with their bbq sauce (not spicy). Others in our group have enjoyed their bourbon burger, Squamish hippie burger, Mac n cheese, and jambalaya. No complaints from our group. They have pretty good beer to choose from. I'm currently pregnant and cannot comment on their beer (next time), but the times I have ordered in the past, I enjoyed their drinks. Overall, service is good. There is indoor and outdoor seating. I'm from Chicago and had the great pleasure of stopping in Copper Coil when I was on my was to Whistler this past weekend. To start, the staff is extremely welcoming and accommodating - we had a party of six and they took us in immediately and even moved us to a bigger table when one opened up to make us more comfortable. I had the potato skins and absolutely loved them. They were very good and I enjoyed that they had a seasoning rub on them. The rest of my friends and my boyfriend also enjoyed their dishes and raved about the restaurant saying how we can't wait to go back on our next trip back. Do not pass up on the Copper Coil! This place can get pretty busy on the weekends so be prepared for a wait. There are heaters on the porch if you end up getting a table there. My guest got the wind and fries. The fries come in a skillet where the oil sits. The bottom of fry layer will be saturated in grease. The fries don't come with regular ranch, I believe it's like peppered ranch or something but it's not what you're thinking (I'm from the US). Lots of decor and has its own vibe. I believe there was a tv or two in the place. Not a lot of options in this small city but everyone seems to gravitate here. Decided to stop in Squamish for lunch before heading back to Vancouver. Saw this place on a corner that I thought was busy because the parking lot was packed but turns out people just park there and go somewhere else. It's a cute little place that's got that local vibe with their own signature dishes and drinks. Service was a little slower than I'm used to but was sufficient as they only had 2 people for the whole restaurant. Fries were a bit under done but had a nice Cajun seasoning on them. Sandwiches/burgers were really good. I was surprised how much I enjoyed the Falafel Sandwich while sitting under the covered and heated outdoor patio. A large table with young unrestrained kids unfortunately made the place kind of annoying. My friend and I were in Squamish for the day and visited Copper Coil after climbing at the local gym. We opted to sit outside on the patio and it was so cozy after the host turned on the heat lamps! We split three dishes: - Poutine - Cajun Mac 'n Cheese - Blackened Chicken Salad I was surprised by the salad; the avocado lime dressing was so good. But all three were delicious and this specific combo of dishes balanced each other out. Came here today after a grueling 6 hour hike at Garibaldi. What can I say, but it was mediocre. The food was ok, very basic. Me and my friend ordered the beef brisket and pulled pork platter and a bourbon burger. Both were ok. The server definitely did a good job in trying to upsell it and make it seem bigger then it actually was. You get pulled pork, beef brisket, 2 slices of cornbread, coleslaw, and a sauce cup of BBQ sauce. The meat was a bit dry, even with the BBQ sauce, and the burger seemed dry as well. No sauce really added to it to make it juicy and moist. I ordered a ginger ale. They told me they mostly sold Pepsi products, which is fine; but it also tasted a bit watered down. Just becareful if you order soda. It's not actually listed on the menu or the drink menu. It cost $3.75, and if you want a refill that costs $0.50. Quite expensive if you ask me. Anyways, very mediocre experience. The servers were attentive when we first entered, nearly every server we saw asked us if we had been helped. They sat is outside, and it was super windy. Had things flying everywhere, a bit chilly too. They didn't even set up the heat lamps I til near the end of our meal. Anyways, probably will not be back. This restaurant was so busy when we arrived for lunch. They have seats on the patio (covered and uncovered). Unfortunately on the day that we showed up, it was raining so the uncovered patio was not available. H and I ordered the ribs and smoke brisket platter. Portion size is someone small compared to Vancouver. However, it was very delicious. It had a really nice smoky flavor. The platter was $30 and came with a very small half sweet and sour cut ribs, and a tiny side of brisket, two corn bread, beans and fries. The corn bread was very delicious and you can tell its made in house. The place was super busy. However, the food took a long long time to arrive. After we ordered, we waited for an hour for our food to come. I am not sure if they didn't have enough staff or if they were overwhelmed with too many customers. There were people waiting and also people out in the covered patio. We showed up after 1 pm which was after their lunch rush. There were also quite a few of take out orders too. It was a long weekend/family weekend, they should have anticipated lots of customers. Also there were like 5+ people working in the kitchen that day. Note that if you order pop, they charge 50 cents for refills. I really liked the food here and I do recommend trying this place. There is not social distancing here. So sad I started to feel sick after half my sandwich and 1/3 of my poutine that I was enjoying so much. Pregnancy can really ruin your appetite in a split second. Husband was more than happy to finish it, he even liked the poutine and isn't a fan of gravy! Server was friendly and attentive but once we received our food he only came back once at the end to bring check and see if my husband wanted another beer. We were on our way to Whistler last Friday and stopped by for lunch in Squamish. We decided on Copper Coil Still & Grill. Upon walking up to the entrance there is a big stop sign which made us stop and read the message. Apparently we were more compliant than other guests . Sanitize hand wait for hostess. We had the option to sit inside or outside. We choose outside as weather was fantastic! I had to run back to the car for sunscreen. They had menus to look at but we looked up their menu on our phone instead. We had: - The Hippie Burger with yam fries - It is veggie burger made of chickpea, quinoa, potato, roasted red pepper, butternut squash patty, avocado, smoked cheddar & crispy onion straws. It was good but veggie paddy was a bit soft/mushy and messy while eating. It was tasty but bit challenging eating prettily. - The smoked beef brisket dip - My hubby ordered this and he felt the brisket didn't have too much flavour but the dip helped bring out the flavour and smokiness. He'd would have like the protein to be a bit more flavourful. Otherwise it was a good meal. Poutine was really good with tasty gravy and cheese curds. Having outside seating is great on a beautiful day. Each table had an umbrella. All guests were seated at least 2 meters apart. Our favorite watering hole in Squamish. Excellent service!! Super friendly staff. Went one night just for drinks. Good, though not extensive, craft beer list. Our friends enjoyed the sangria and raspberry lemonade. The next night we went back for dinner. Mondays and Tuesday are SOB nights (south of the border) so we had the taco special. I tried the chicken and the vegetarian (Squampton), and the vegetarian was my fave! Deliciously spicy! We also had the smoked wings, which were kind of small and a bit overcooked. I did enjoy the Louisiana rub, though. The highlight was the fried pickles. Really tasty!! My only complaint is that they brought 7 pickles for 4 people....PLEASE just charge a little more and give us 8! read more

The ribs were fall off the bone and delicious, however the brisket was on the drier side. Having the bbq sauce on the side elevated the smoked brisket. The sampler was enough for the both of us to share for a small bite to eat. We also ordered two drinks with our meal, beer and spicy Margarita. I'm glad I have stopped at this spot after several hours of hiking. What a great spot to cool off and re-fuel! I had some hard cider from their draft menu. It was just sweet enough and lightly carbonated, didn't make me feel bloated afterwards. Great pick to go with my food. The cajun spice chicken wings were phenomenal. Perfectly seasoned, not dried out but not greasy either. Great homemade dipping ranch. Couldn't ask for anything more on a sunny day! The burger my partner had was also nicely done, juicy with all the right toppings. The poutine was alright, nothing to write home about. Our server Chris is a blast! He's a natural entertainer.
