First and foremost, I want to commend the staff who made our visit start off on such a high note. The hostess was absolutely wonderful, greeting everyone with bright smiles and a warm, welcoming attitude. Alyssa, the young lady who seated us, truly stood out. She made us feel like family with her kindness and positivity. ASHLEY THE SERVER SHOULD BE FIRED! Unfortunately, the experience at the bar fell short of expectations. I've been visiting the Avondale Cooper's location since it first opened, and I've always enjoyed the service. This time, however, Ashley, our server at the bar, was extremely unprofessional. While other staff members like Ramon, Joshua, and Rochelle made our visit memorable, Ashley's behavior was disappointing. Instead of focusing on providing a great dining experience, she spent her time engaging in unprofessional interactions, including excessive chatting and inappropriate physical contact with the bartender Ramon, and another server who was clearly trying to remain professional. This not only affected our table but also seemed to impact her other tables as well. It was upsetting to see someone behave this way in an otherwise wonderful establishment. Overall, the restaurant and most of its staff continue to shine, but I sincerely hope management addresses this issue so that every guest can enjoy the outstanding experience Cooper's is known for. So, ended up at Cooper's Hawk again. I don't regret any visit. The food quality and taste match the price-point, great ambiance with music at the right volume so you can still have conversation at your table without having to raise your voice to be heard. Good wine variety as well. What continues to set this place apart for me is the level of service delivered by particular staff. Last time, I wrote about service delivered by Natalie. Today, it's about Shanna. Pure Goodness! Another WoW!! What can I say? When we were seated, we asked if Natalie could be our Waitress once again. Well, we learned that based on where we had been seated, another staff member would Wait our table. Step in, Shanna. Great smile, wonderful attitude and perspective about it all, and by golly! did Shanna deliver!! I mean menu knowledge (both food and wines) .... impeccable! She did all this without reference to the menu or wine listing! And she recommended wine for our selected meal! Delivered two steaming hot soft breads either butter, AND desserts. Conversation with Shanna was !! Trust me, we were certainly not the only clients at the restaurant, nor were we the only table Shanna Waited. Yet, we felt special, S though we mattered more than other clients ... all while she Waited and Served other tables!! So Kudos to Shanna for delivering WoW!! Service. My daughter and I visited this location on Friday, May 22, to enjoy the Happy Hour experience. It was her first time visiting, while I had previously visited twice for both the tasting room and Happy Hour. Unfortunately, this visit was a bit different from my past experiences. First, I would like to recognize the staff for their excellent service. We arrived around 4:40 PM during what appeared to be a busy holiday weekend. Someone greeted us right away and let us know a server would be with us shortly, and our waitress came over promptly. She was very friendly, attentive, and provided great customer service throughout our visit. The main issue we experienced was with the food temperature and quality. We noticed it took a little longer than expected to receive our pretzel bread and appetizer. When they arrived, they were only slightly warm rather than hot, which was disappointing. Later, when our entrees arrived, we experienced similar issues. We ordered two Cilantro Ranch Chicken Sandwich meals with fries. Both sandwiches had very soggy bottom buns, and the fries were not hot. Having visited your Wisconsin location several years ago, I also noticed that the sandwich bread seems different from what I remember. A firmer, heartier bun might help prevent the sandwich from becoming soggy and improve the overall dining experience. For beverages, we ordered the Strawberry Lemonade, Passionfruit Lemonade, and a Blood Orange Margarita, all of which were enjoyable. Overall, while the service was excellent, the food quality did not meet expectations due to the temperature and soggy bread issues. It seemed as though some of the food may have been sitting for a period of time before being delivered to our table. As a suggestion, it may be helpful for servers and food runners to ensure that orders are brought to tables as quickly as possible after preparation so guests can enjoy them at their intended temperature. Yea! I had visited the Surprise, AZ. several times and really enjoyed it. Well, this new location is much closer to home! We were able to make a reservation just before leaving home and got right in. The staff there is very friendly. There is a small gift shop where you can spend a few minutes looking around as you wait or have a glass of wine at the wine bar. We were seated immediately and given the option of the restaurant or the patio. The restaurant is pleasant and elegant. Our server promptly asked for our drink order and asked if we had any questions. We placed our orders and were given a nice pretzel bread loaf while we waited. Their bread is really good! I decided on the Surf & Turf, with the Parmesan Crusted Filet Medallions and Shrimp. They came with regular mashed potatoes and grilled broccoli. Everything was delicious. The filet was tender and perfectly cooked. The wasabi mashed potatoes were out of this world. My wife had the pistachio crusted grouper, mashed potatoes and broccoli. This is the newest Copper's Hawk in the West Valley, which I think was highly needed. I went for happy hour on a Wednesday afternoon and wasn't disappointed. I was welcomed in and shown the bar area where my bartender greeted me kindly with water and the menu. He gave me his recommendation for happy hour apps and drinks to help me decide, and I definitely enjoyed the two items I chose. They were delicious and filling for appetizer portions as I didn't want a full meal. I absolutely loved my sangria flight so refreshing and tasty. Very disappointed by the dinner my family and I had on Saturday night (May 16, 2026). It was our 13th wedding anniversary, and we decided to bring our 12 and 10 year old daughters along for the experience so they could have a fun night out too. To mention the positives, we were seated on time for our reservation. The front staff was very helpful and, at first appearance, our waiter seemed to be as well. I'm not sure whether the restaurant was just overcrowded last night night or if our waiter was new, but we had specifically ordered a series of dishes a certain way. For example, I ordered my filet medium, but when it arrived, it was very undercooked to my taste medium rare. We had also asked for salads to be served before our main entrees, but were surprised when the entrees came out first. The server apologized and brought the salads afterward, which left very little space on the table. For my side dish, I had ordered the wasabi mashed potatoes. I specifically asked the waiter whether anything contained cheese as I don't eat it, and he said no. When my entree arrived, the mashed potatoes had cheese on them. Overall, most of our dishes were either undercooked or overcooked. The quality of the steaks for me and my wife were especially disappointing, given the reputation I thought Cooper's Hawk had. And while our waiter seemed friendly, he was not the most attentive. He didn't really ask about the quality of the food or whether we were enjoying it. He checked on us a few times, then came over with the check. Everybody has an off night, so we would normally let something like this slide. Still, when you spend over $250 for a meal, you expect decent service, quality steak cuts, and food that tastes good. While the restaurant ambience is nice and the establishment is very well designed, the quality of the food was very disappointing, especially for the price. I really wanted to like Cooper's Hawk and was planning to give them a lot of grace because our first visit was on Mother's Day, but there were just too many issues. We had reservations at 5pm, which I made weeks in advance. We didn't get seated until 5:30. I understand them being backed up because of the holiday, but the host said nothing to us about having to wait. We felt forgotten and when we asked, she was very rude. We ordered quickly after being seated, expecting our food would take some time. It took over an hour to get our food (and again, not a single word from our server to acknowledge the wait). He didn't ask for refills, didn't ask if we wanted water or another glass of wine. When I finally flagged him down for waters, he didn't give the kids straws so we had to wait for 15 minutes for him to return to get those. My wine glasses had lipstick stains on them. We were overcharged for my child's drink that was supposed to come with his meal. It was a mess. All I ask for is some communication from our server and an acknowledgment, but we got nothing. He forgot my second glass of wine, which I had to remind him about, so it took 45 minutes to receive it. The only positive was the food and the staff that brought out the food. They were SO kind and the food was delicious. I'm so disappointed. We were planning to buy a few bottles of wine after dinner but I didn't want to give them any more of my money. read more

Coopers Hawk in Avondale just recently open last week. It was lovely to stop for lunch while everything is so new and lovely. We had such a lovely lunch, we got the parmesan crusted mahi mahi with the Mary's potatoes, the shrimp scampi, s'more budino, Thai lettuce wrap. Everything was delicious, the mahi mahi was a little salty than expected but when I squeezed the lemon on top, it helped tremendously. The Thai lettuce wrap was a sizable appetizer which could serve as an entree. The shrimp scampi wasn't as seasoned as expected, the sauce needs a little more sprucing up. The s'mores budino was really rich, a thick layer of marshmallow, it was less so I can enjoy the caramel custard more. My friend joined their wine club, and we went home with their blood orange pineapple sangria. We had a great time sampling the wines before we decided on our choice. A big shout out to Tati, our waitress, she was knowledgeable and did such a great job with her hospitality. We will definitely be back. read more

It was a a lot of food so I took half home and had it for dinner the next day. This visit I had the blackened ahi tuna. Yum. The restaurant is beautiful inside and the staff is really good. I've eaten at the Cooper's Hawk in Surprise many times and have always had an excellent experience. The Avondale location is another story. A large group ladies who meet once at month a various restaurants decided this month to try the recently opened Avondale location. We made a reservation for 10, and at no time was the caller told that separate checks could not be done. 9 ladies ended up going and when we ordered our drinks we asked for separate checks. We were told that's not possible (ridiculous), and the server said she could bring 3 or 4 copies of the bill and we could "figure out what we each owed ourselves". At no time did she say she could not take separate payments from each of us. I ordered the $12 Pinot, simply labeled Pinot, which I've had at the other location, and it's always decent. The glass brought to me was horrible, acidic with a wicked aftertaste. 2 other ladies sampled it and agreed. I don't usually send things back but it was really unpleasant. I told the server it had a really bad taste, and could I instead get the next level up, the Cooper's Hawk Luxe Pinot at $16.25 a glass. She immediately copped an attitude and nastily said "they're all Cooper's Hawk brand, we make our own wine"! It was as if she didn't want to sell me the more expensive glass of wine, and I was somehow putting her off by asking for a different Pinot. After we all finished eating she brought out 4 copies of the bill, $400 for 9 people, and randomly distributed them to 4 of the ladies. When we each tried to give her our individual payments (cash or card) she tells us she cannot collect individually. The credit card machine is too slow, they can't do that, blah, blah blah. Such BS! We asked to see the manager. The female manager comes to the table and basically confirms what the server said, except her excuse was that it's a "corporate policy" and "we're new and haven't had big parties yet". WTH??? Corporate doesn't know if you had a table of 9 or 9 tables of 1! And new is yesterday or last week, not 2 months ago. She had no rebuttal when told the other Coopers Hawk location had no trouble witb separate checks. I said to her "we did not bring cash, and I'm not paying for these ladies and then trying to go house to house collecting or doing Zelle to get paid back". She says to me "I'm not asking you to do any of that". Then WTH are you asking, because you won't take our individual cards so what DO you expect us to do? Finally I said "either you take my card for my meal or I'm walking out. I didn't bring cash and I'm not letting someone else put my meal on their card or vice versa. Within 5 minutes she had individual tickets run for each lady and brought them to the table. She wasn't happy about it. Tough you-know-what. None of us have ever experienced a situation where one person was expected to pay for an entire table. Really bad policy. I can't speak for the other 8 but I'll be taking my business to the other Coopers Hawk location. Better class of employees and customer base for that matter. read more

Spent $245 in wine, which was good, appetizers, which were great, and entrees. I ordered a Filet Mignon Medium Rare, and it came out Medium Well through 75% of the cook. I also never received the side of Broccoli and Onion Strings which were supposed to come with the Potatoes and French Onion Au Gratin, which were also great. My waiter, Daniel, who was also great, said he would talk to the manager about my poorly cooked steak. The manager, who never gave me his name, decided to argue with me that if I cut into the middle of the filet, it would be more rare. Wrong! The middle was a pink to grey, which is medium well. Poorly cooked. The manager said he would talk to the chef and see if he would provide a free dessert. Poorly handled with no apology. Really? Everyone was really nice. Service was very good. Our table was in a sort of bar type area. I don't know if the other side of the restaurant is the same, but I would have liked to be in a dining room. Not a big deal though. The chicken lettuce wraps were really good. Everything else was kind of mediocre. I had a pineapple sangria which was only ok. Filet, potatoes and roasted veggies. The filet was average. I didn't like the vegetables. The potatoes were ok but nothing special. For the price tag, I would expect more flavorful, special food. I've paid less for better meals for sure. All in all I probably won't go back. If I'm going to spend $170 on a meal for 2, there are better places to go. We've been to Cooper's Hawk twice. The food is great. The wine is fine, the cocktails are good. Both times the service has been mediocre. The first time they had only been open two weeks, so we gave them grace when our drinks took 45 minutes, and the food took almost 1.5 hours. The second time, the server took half of the drink orders then walked away for 10 minutes without explanation, eventually she came back to finish the drink orders. Then the bar runner came holding a glass of sparkling wine and a margarita and asked us "did you guys order one of these? Looks like a marg and something else." We had ordered the something else, the presentation of which was not impressive. The food runner did something similar later, looked at the table on the ticket but not the item to deliver, and asked whose it was in a strange way. Ultimately, we will go back, because the food is pretty good. Hopefully the service improves. At 50-100 per person, the service shouldn't be mediocre. read more

I opted for a non alcoholic beverage, the passion and spice, and it was absolutely delicious! I couldn't believe how flavorful it was! While I sat there many other servers checked on me as well as managers. My food was cooked to perfection! I had the lobster bisque, parmesan crusted chicken, and the key lime pie. When I tell you the key lime pie was the best ive ever tasted I am not exaggerating! Overall, the restaurant was clean, inviting, and the atmosphere was friendly. I will absolutely be back. I recently took a trip to Arizona. My party of four met up for a nice meal here at the Avondale location for the first time on Friday, May 15th. The place itself was very clean including the floor, no stickiness and there weren't any overpowering food smells either. We arrived around 12:50 pm - 1pm and the lighting was adequate, not too bright and not too dull which I really appreciated because I have light sensitivity. I ordered the Baked Parmesan Shrimp Scampi and it was as delicious as I expected it. Portions were really good. One thing I really have to mention was the cleanliness of the Restrooms! I usually dread this part but was pleasantly surprised to walk into a CLEAN space. No sink splatter, no paper in the floor, fully stocked sanitary liner and tissue! Looks like maintenance really takes their job serious. It has been a while since I have been satisfied with a restaurant experience, maybe I was just having a lucky day but this was definitely worth writing a review about. Usually go to the one in Surprise, however this one is much closer. Decided to try as we had a wine pick up and usually go every month. We had our usually Brussels sprouts.. really good. Used to them being a little more cooked and crispier with a little more sauce but they were still good. Next had the tuna tostada appetizer ( special ) and they were delightfully light and very tasty. Next we split the red snapper entre ( chef recommendation) which is their monthly special. It was surprisingly very tasty! The sauce was hearty yet light and so addictive! The snapper cooked a little too much but the sauce and the crispy potatoes were so good we hardly noticed. Next was the carrot cake special! Really good! Overall a great experience. Our wine tasting server was Maria and she did a great job! Very engaging and tuned in to what our preferences were. Victor was our dinner server and he was awesome! Overall great experience and we will be back next month for tasting, dinner and to pick up our shipment! read more

My only complaint and I'm chalking this up to opening week and still working things out, is the food temp, the flavor of the food is really good. Started off with the bisque and tortilla soup, both room temp at best. Soup should be steaming. Entrees - surf and turf warm at best and carrots were cool to the touch. The burger also just barely warm. I've had the soup and burger at the Scottsdale location - both still hot when brought to the table. The honey mustard vinaigrette also excellent.
