My husband and I visit this location quite often, and our most recent visit was about two weeks ago for wine tasting. As wine club members, we truly enjoy the perks and experiences that come with our membership! There is a young man from Chicago who we always enjoy talking with. We appreciate having conversations with him and hearing his recommendations regarding wine selections, drink combinations, and so much more. It's always a pleasure learning about different wines, getting suggestions, and meeting new people along the way. These interactions really add to our overall experience! One thing I would love to see this location offer is weekend happy hour! Currently, happy hour is available Monday through Friday from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM in the bar area and/or open seating. Since brunch is offered on Saturdays and Sundays, I think extending happy hour to the weekends would be a great way to attract even more customers and generate additional revenue. I believe they would do exceptionally well with this option! Another thing we appreciate about this location is the ample parking, spacious interior, and outdoor space. Compared to some of the other locations, this one feels less congested, making it more comfortable and enjoyable to visit. We also received a complementary truffle for my husband's birthday as well. Overall, we enjoy coming here for wine tasting, great conversations, wine recommendations, and the opportunity to meet new people. Full transparency- I didn't choose to come here (lol), my friend made me. She said, "trust me, just come along." I was skeptical. I also didn't understand the hype and why the parking lot is always full. I also thought about making a lame excuse and no-showed on my friend. Yes, I was bad. Forgive me, Copper's Hawk! The welcome area before the actual hostess stand was impressive, but also a bit confusing for a first timer like me. After several people walked in, I realized that the welcome area is for the wine tasting. I was eyeing on a sweet wine with dragon fruit and mango in it. I had to withhold myself because I just bought a bottle of moscato the week before... my friend arrived just in time to distract me. After this visit and the friendly and attentive service (thank you, Taylor!), I am happy to report that there will be many more visits to come. I ordered an odd-ball choice from the menu, a gumbo, and I am very pleased. The portion size, the ingredients, the seasoning, I'm impressed! I learned about the weekend brunch and the wine club membership my friend was praising about throughout the meal, which is why I am holding back the 5-star rating. Getting fresh Seafood in Phoenix is tricky but Coopers Hawk delivered. C.H. does take reservations which is highly recommended. As you wait for your table we took advantage of the wine bar and complimentary wine tasting of their particular brand of wines and champagne. We were seated and welcomed by our waitress who took incredible care of us. I always appreciate a server who knows the menu well and is able to help cater an experience based on your taste pallet. We started with the lettuce wraps as an appetizer and was just as good as the meal. Crisp lettuce, seasoned chicken, and complementary sauces made for an awesome start of the meal. For entrees we ordered a chicken sandwich, crusted chicken, grilled salmon, and pistachio crusted grouper. Each came with a side that complimented the main dish. If I was nitpicking I would say that the plates were too big and swallowed up the presentation and plating. That obviously didn't take away from the taste and delicious experience. This new Cooper's Hawk is a true gem. The food, service, and atmosphere are the trifecta for a great experience. 5/5 stars, will be back. Not surprisingly, this recently opened location is gorgeous inside. It's shiny newness makes it feel very upscale without being pretentious. That's likely due to the warmth of the staff. I'm always prepared to give grace to newer establishments who are finding their rhythm as a service team, but this location is locked in. Every person i talked to made the experience better. We had a reservation, and despite it being a weekend, we were promptly seated. Our hostess, the waitress, and other servers who stopped by were all wonderful. They answered questions, checked in at the right frequency, and made sure our experience was positive from beginning to end. The food from their scratch-made kitchen was other worldly. We enjoyed the calamari (on point), the braised short ribs, the pretzel crusted pork chop, and the blackened ahi. Each bite was divine. No notes for the kitchen; beautifully executed. We enjoyed a couple flights and glasses, all of which were wonderful. We started with bubbles and then enjoyed a white flight. The waitress also provided a suggestion and some of a red she thought we would enjoy. We picked a couple of our favorites and enjoyed full glasses, and I opted to take a couple home. While this is not a budget dinner, my assessment is that the price is well worth it. The quality of food is superior, and the service is truly exceptional. This was my first time at the new Avondale location and overall it was a nice experience! My friend and I met for brunch. We both ordered off their brunch & bubbles menu. I ordered their Candied Bacon BLT with a sangria. I asked to have my bacon crispy, but unfortunately it came out not crispy, so that was a little disappointing. The crispy breakfast potatoes, however, were the star of the dish! Unfortunately, the sangria was just okay; it didn't have a ton of flavor, so probably not something I'd order again. Amazing Food and Wine, Terrible Service -- Except for One Incredible Employee! As a bartender in Las Vegas and former server, I understand the hospitality industry and don't expect perfection. However, our first experience at Cooper's Hawk was incredibly disappointing. The food was AMAZING, and the wine was fantastic. Unfortunately, the service was another story. Our appetizer arrived AFTER our entrées, our drinks took forever, and the wine we specifically ordered to enjoy with dinner didn't arrive until after we'd finished eating. Our server was pleasant but largely absent, with excessive gaps between check-ins. Hoping to salvage our evening, we decided to finish our wine at the bar. When we asked the blonde woman in a blue shirt behind the wooden counter about moving, she barely acknowledged us and simply gestured toward the bar without a word. The bar experience was somehow worse. We weren't greeted, and when the bartender finally acknowledged us, her only question was whether we'd be dining there. After that, we were completely ignored while she cleaned around us and spent time laughing on her phone. No warmth, no conversation, and not once an offer for another drink. We had every intention of spending hours enjoying additional wine and cocktails, but instead felt like an inconvenience. HOWEVER, I need to recognize one incredible employee: Dacole in the tasting room (I sincerely hope I'm spelling his name correctly!). He was the first person to greet us when we arrived, and as first-time guests, he immediately made us feel welcome. After our disappointing dinner, I almost skipped purchasing a bottle of wine and went to Total Wine instead. Thankfully, we decided to give the tasting room another chance. Dacole completely turned our evening around. He listened, genuinely apologized, helped us find a bottle we'd enjoy taking back to our hotel, and even took care of the bottle for us. His kindness, attentiveness, and genuine hospitality were everything we'd been missing throughout the rest of our visit. We will return to Cooper's Hawk because of Dacole, and Dacole alone. It's unfortunate that an establishment with such exceptional food and wine could fall so short on hospitality. I sincerely hope management addresses the service issues and recognizes Dacole for being an incredible asset to their team. He single-handedly saved what otherwise would have been a completely negative first impression. read more

We know the menu at Cooper's Hawk really well and always know exactly what we want to order when we come here. Unfortunately, our latest visit was just a comedy of errors with the service and the kitchen. First, our server completely mixed up our wine orders and the samples we asked for. It set a weird tone for the night, but the real issues came when the food hit the table. We ordered the crispy Brussels sprouts, but they completely forgot the Thai sauce and the cashews on the first round, so the whole batch had to be sent back and remade. Then, my "roasted chicken risotto" came out, and I immediately noticed there wasn't a single piece of chicken in the entire bowl. It was literally just the rice base, a few vegetables, cheese, and pesto sauce. The kitchen completely left out the main protein of the dish! It really feels like the line cooks are just rushing and failing to look at the plates before they leave the kitchen.Word of advice for anyone going here: definitely double-check your food when it lands on the table to make sure you actually got what you ordered.On the positive side, the ambience is still very pleasant and good. The restaurant is clean, they have separate men's and women's restrooms, and there are always plenty of parking spots in the lot. They also still have a really great wine selection with a ton of variety. Yea! I had visited the Surprise, AZ. several times and really enjoyed it. Well, this new location is much closer to home! We were able to make a reservation just before leaving home and got right in. The staff there is very friendly. There is a small gift shop where you can spend a few minutes looking around as you wait or have a glass of wine at the wine bar. We were seated immediately and given the option of the restaurant or the patio. The restaurant is pleasant and elegant. Our server promptly asked for our drink order and asked if we had any questions. We placed our orders and were given a nice pretzel bread loaf while we waited. Their bread is really good! I decided on the Surf & Turf, with the Parmesan Crusted Filet Medallions and Shrimp. They came with regular mashed potatoes and grilled broccoli. Everything was delicious. The filet was tender and perfectly cooked. The wasabi mashed potatoes were out of this world. My wife had the pistachio crusted grouper, mashed potatoes and broccoli. It's been a while, but a friend and I were meeting for dinner, so decided to come here. Since it was a Friday night, I made a reservation...and, I'm so glad I did. We walked in and the place was packed!! We got there a few minutes early, but were seated pretty quickly. Thank goodness for the reservation!! Our server, Jena, was wonderful! She was so friendly and ready to answer any and all questions we had. She was incredibly attentive and made sure to keep our glasses full. We both ended up ordering the same things, which made everything so easy...LOL!! We started with the Seafood Bisque, which was delicious. The pretzel bread was perfect to dip into our soups, as well. For our mains, we each got the Short Rib Risotto. I'd had it the first time I came here and couldn't wait to get it again. The short rib was so tender, the mushrooms were meaty and the risotto was luscious! My friend got a Raspberry Hibiscus Iced Tea (she loved it) and I got a glass of Moscato. I'm not a big wine drinker, but just felt like having a cool, sweet wine. Everything was so good and by the time we finished eating and were catching up, the restaurant was clearing out. I was welcomed in and shown the bar area where my bartender greeted me kindly with water and the menu. He gave me his recommendation for happy hour apps and drinks to help me decide, and I definitely enjoyed the two items I chose. They were delicious and filling for appetizer portions as I didn't want a full meal. I absolutely loved my sangria flight so refreshing and tasty. I came to Cooper's Hawk for a networking lunch. My only previous visit was to the Surprise location for a date night with my wife, and that was years ago, so walking in felt like my first experience all over again. The first thing you'll notice--it's in the name--is the wine. The selection is impressive and takes center stage as soon as you walk through the doors. The lobby doubles as a winery storefront, lined with bottles, wine accessories, gifts, and tasting items. We started with the chicken potstickers, and they were surprisingly good. I'd happily order them again. For my entrée, I chose the lunch portion of the Gnocchi Carbonara. Although the carbonara would have made an Italian Nonna cry, it made my tongue happy. No, it isn't traditional by any means, but it is delicious. The gnocchi was tender with just the right bite, the sauce was rich and flavorful, and the chicken was well-seasoned. The service was impeccable. Unfortunately, I can't remember our server's name, but she struck the perfect balance between attentiveness and giving us space to conduct business. Our drinks stayed full, our food arrived promptly, and we never felt rushed. I'm not sure Cooper's Hawk will become one of my regular spots, but I have no doubt I'll be back. Unfortunately, we waited 34 mins at our table . We were sat 10 mins after our reservation. Not a big deal it was Friday . I made this a week in advance for my birthday dinner When you walk in, there's no sign telling you where to check in, but there are big signs for checkout and takeout. Once we were seated, we waited an additional 34 minutes and nobody came to help us. There were about 6 servers nearby, and not one of them could let someone know we were waiting for service? When we finally got up and said something, the hostess was the only one who apologized. The bald manager wearing black didn't apologize at all. He just asked, "What table are you at?" Like, how are we supposed to know? We were already seated and had been waiting for 34 minutes. When we said we were going to Texas Roadhouse instead, he asked, "You sure?" Still no apology or even an attempt to make things right. We ended up going to Texas Roadhouse, and the food was delicious! Honestly, this location needs to do better with customer service. Very attractive establishment! It was nice for lunch and I'm betting it is even more atmospheric during dinner time. Upon entry we were asked if we had a reservation, which we did not, and were sat rather quickly. Maybe 5 minutes maximum wait time. The one gripe I have with the menu is I did not see ribeye on it, but otherwise a very extensive and delicious assortment to choose from. I had Dana's chicken which was well cooked. Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The winner of the meal though is Mary's (mashed) potatoes!!! They do let you sample from their large variety of wines as well. I tried the Gewurztraminer and was very pleased but since I was driving did not allow myself more than the sample... next time! If you like dry wines the cab is a great choice. The salads are all very fresh looking with the cherry tomatoes being my favorite part. It did feel like the food took a little while to come out (lunch portion chicken and a filet mignon) but it was warm and prepared accurately so I'll say it wasn't that big a deal. Whoever put together the playlist deserves some credit--it was full of great '90s music and really set the mood. Susan took care of us at the tasting bar and was fantastic. I had several questions about the Wine Club, and she explained all the benefits without making us feel pressured at all. By the end, it honestly seemed like a great value. We also had the chance to chat with Jennifer, one of the managers, who was incredibly polite, welcoming, and informative. Isaac was also very knowledgeable and made an excellent wine recommendation. When we sat down for dinner, Whitney took amazing care of us. She had great recommendations, her energy matched our table perfectly, and she made the whole experience even more enjoyable. A shoutout to Jasmine as well. She brought our food out, and when we had a question, she was observant enough to notice what my friend's wife was drinking. Based on that, she recommended another wine she thought she'd enjoy, and it was a great recommendation. That level of attentiveness really stood out. The staff all seemed to genuinely enjoy working together, which created a fun atmosphere. First I would like to say that we were able to make reservations same day. Bonus. They were really busy and we enjoy seeing that. Food was, a 6.5 out of ten. My salad came out cold and good. I did have to ask for more dressing because I was giving maybe a tablespoon. Lol Husband had the wedge said it was good! I had the rigatoni and the sauce was too sweet for my liking. Doesn't mean it was bad I just prefer not sweet red sauce. He had the flank steak and in my opinion is was way more rare than we asked for. He asked for medium. Fries were good. We were comped dessert for a mishap with some wine. The chocolate cake is divine. They absolutely made the mishap right and were very apologetic and even offered to refund dry cleaning if needed. Second time we were there -- Made reservations a week in advance for a booth in the standard (dining room) area for our 49th wedding anniversary. When we arrived they tried to seat us in the noisy bar. When I asked about the booth in the dining area they said those were taken by "PEOPLE WITH RESERVATIONS." Wait a minute? Didn't I have a reservation? I was obviously dressed for a special occasion and you seat me in the bar? You probably had to be there, but it was just the attitude. We walked out. I had eaten at Cooper's Hawk before in Scottsdale. The Scottsdale location was very nice. I have also eaten once before at this Avondale location, which seems more casual. The wait staff wears jeans. Maybe the wait staff wore jeans in Scottsdale as well but somehow it was a nice place and I didn't notice. My husband does not care for their food at all, especially given the price. I think it's decent, mostly because at first it was different, not necessarily impressive. The menu doesn't change much though so that wears off quickly. I really would like to see something other than a chain in the far southwest part of the valley. In any case we likely won't be back. They have to be respectful. We've been to this Cooper's Hawk several times since they opened, and each visit has been more disappointing than the last. This time, we had a strict time frame and specifically asked the hostess BEFORE being seated if it would be possible to order only appetizers because we needed to leave by a certain time. She repeatedly assured us it wouldn't be a problem and even said she had notified the manager to expedite our order. After being seated we realized our waitress hadn't even been informed of our situation, so I had to explain everything again. I specifically said, "We have to be out of here by this time. We only want appetizers and water, so please let us know if that can't be done." She didn't say anything to indicate there would be an issue and simply took our order. Twenty-five minutes later, we still had no food and no update. At that point, I had to walk back to the hostess stand myself to explain that we still hadn't received anything and now needed to pay and leave. Only then did everyone scramble to throw our food into to-go containers, we didn't even get to eat it there in the restaurant! If they had simply told us upfront that they couldn't accommodate our time frame, we would have gladly gone somewhere else. I feel like we were lied to, just to tell us what we wanted to hear. Instead, we were left waiting until it was too late. To top it off, our waitress never apologized for the delay or acknowledged the situation of having us wait even when she knew I told her we had to be out of there by a certain time. Inconsiderate and disrespectful of our time as customers, I can't believe I left a tip! The service was excruciatingly slow (has been consistently the last few visits) plus lack of communication and customer service was incredibly disappointing. I just can't justify wasting our time and money here anymore and will also be canceling our membership. It's a shame because of how promising it was to have such a nice restaurant in this area. Every time I come here I feel like I'm being taken advantage of as a customer or treated like a fool. There's plenty more instances we had that I'd love to share. Here is the short story. Went to use my wine tasting. Arrived at the Avondale location. Not many people there, but only 1 person was conducting the tastings. This person was trying to help all the people wine tasting and checking people out. She was not happy, didn't smile, made the wine tasting not a fun event. I didn't even finish my tastings. It was obviously she wasn't happy, no smile, no talking, just here's your wine. Do I blame her? Yes, partly because she is in customer service and I'm paying for a service. As she could have been nicer. As I looked around, 3 people at the check in desk, just waiting. No manager or leadership walking around checking the flow of the business. I'm sure many things could have happened prior to my arrival, but check on your associates!!! Give them the tools they need to become successful. This was a big miss by leadership. We had an amazing experience thanks to Suza and Jennifer, who made our evening truly special. They were both incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout our visit. Suza did an excellent job helping us choose the perfect wine to pair with our dinner. Jennifer was equally helpful and guided us toward some fantastic dinner selections. Their knowledge and recommendations made it easy to choose dishes we absolutely loved. The food and wine were both excellent, and everything came together perfectly. We really appreciated how attentive and personable they were without ever being overbearing. We would definitely recommend this place and hope to have Suza and Jennifer take care of us again on our next visit! read more

McDowell Rd, Avondale, AZ 85392 Dear Restaurant Manager, Enclosed please find a copy of my dining experience check. Generally, I always have good experiences at Coooper's Hawk Restaurant. My 1st experience was at the Scottsdale, AZ restaurant - & WOW! It was amazing. Since then, I go once a month. Now to my surprise - how nice to have in the West Valley - Prasada Shopping Center but now even in Avondale, AZ. So, I thought - why? Not go on my actual birthday with some extinguished guests/friends chosen to celebrate my birthday at Cooper's Hawk. After telling them that they would enjoy it & love it as much as I would. This particular restaurant was such a great disappointment for my 1st time arrival experience. It's not often that I get to go out with my husband (since he is Canadian & flew in for my birthday to surprise me, since I have been an emotional state pivoting my life these past few months due to personal issues) out to a nice restaurant and for a treat. It all started at the Hostess check in. I made reservations 2 months ago through Open Table & made a note it was for a Birthday Celebration. I also let the hostess stand know that there was a last minute change from 8 to 6 guests in total and that most guests were large people. The hostess took us to a round table and squeezed us into a table right by the galley way where the servers pass through to get to the food line. (very noisy). It is my birthday month; my husband flew in from out of country (Canada) for overnight to spend some time with me & guests for my birthday; experience the BRAND NEW Cooper's Hawk in Avondale; and to get my FREE Cheesecake as a Cheesecake Reward patron. I was forgiving the experience I had at the Cheesecake Factory; but I could sense from the server she was getting a little irritated with the number of guests I had at the table & their orders. Well - Kamaria you chose the job/position & more importantly it is a Customer Service position. The server did not check up on us & did not celebrate my birthday when it was told to her from my husband & did provide the celeboratory experience like other guest tables we have seen to have received, so upset that we were charged for the dessert we ordered- Key Lime Pie. PLUS we had to ask for our server several times. She never arrived. Our dining experience would have been less time; if the server "Kamaria S" would have checked up on us; refilled our drinks; give us the check (rather than having to ask for it). We went for a birthday celebration ; the lack of service PLUS the food was brought out all at once, rather the salad and few delayed appetizers ordered. So disappointed with the expectations of Cooper's Hawk & the location of expected experience. I would ask that you please send me a reimbursement or gift card of a value of $150 (this does not include the bottle of wines I purchased in your retail area) so that I can properly experience Cooper's Hawk & maybe get a better experience. Additionally, I would recommend for the hostess to keep their personal small talk to a minimum or at least for the guests that are waiting for their tables not to hear their conversations. The last thing I want to hear about is about you meeting so and so in the parking lot. Also, for the galley way - the servers too need to keep their complaints to a minimum (or maybe they thought us being so close to the galley way we could not hear - well we did). read more
