Wow... the bartender has a LOT of energy and rushed us through our tasting. The white tasting was OK. It was funny that our bartender made statements like, all Chardonnay's are gross but ours is great - when it was actually the worst of the tasting. Besides feeling rushed, out dated music and no food... this place is great for a quick in and out. read more

Relaxed Beautiful place to enjoy wines, But Sara(h) made the experience.!!!! She guided our Cousins from Buffalo, NY and ourselves to the best wines for our tastes. One of Vitners was also available for questions regarding his Wines. We purchased 2 wine glasses and a bottle of Heart Wood cellars 2020 Kiss, our favorite from our chosen flight. This was a great wine tasting experience here on my Monday vacation day. I did the pink wine flight which was quite reasonable at $12. I found the employee that helped me was very informative and provided great feedback on each of the wines I tasted. I also tried a glass of one of the white selections. It was actually my favorite. If I didn't have a loaded wine cabinet already I would have purchased a bottle. Place is very clean and relaxed. Worth a drop by if you're in the Cottonwood area. read more

One of the many tasting rooms lining Main Street in Cottonwood. Maybe a less popular one, it was nice to enjoy a tasting here away from any crowds. That's not to say the wine was any less tasty! We were able to enjoy a nice sampling and have a more intimate experience with the server learning about the wines and her recommendations of other fun things to do in the area. read more

Dropped in here to celebrate a friend's birthday. Ordered a zinfandel. Was delivered in a timely manner. The absolute lightest zinfandel I have ever seen and the fruitiest, sweetest zin ever. Not my taste at all. I take it to the counter and ask the employee if this is the correct wine. She assures me that it is. I tell her that it tastes horrible to me. She said sorry we don't make dark red wines. I ask about other wines that appear to be much darker and look like they will meet my tastes better. She says they have Super Tuscan and Cab Sauv. She does not offer to replace the Zin. Turns around and walks off. Buyer and shopper beware, for me and mine we shall not be back. P. S. The music was great! read more

On a recent wine tasting trip to Cottonwood, Az, we stopped at Winery 101. Actually this was our second visit and had even a better time - because of Vince! He served us our wine (which was delicious) but he also had such a great personality.We loved our visit tremendously. Ask him about his unique tip jar creations. Mine even made it in a selfie!!! A little belated with this review. My wife and I wandered in because their sign said it was a tasting room and the door was open. We didn't realize until we were at the bar that everyone in the room was working, like hammering and running electrical wires for the stage. Apparently the grand opening for the renovation was going to be that weekend and all the final touches had to be done by then. Still, they took the time to pour us some wine and talk about their tasting room. I felt guilty taking them away from their hard work, but then drinking new wines is a guilty pleasure in itself. Looking at the picture of the tasting room on their website, they did an awesome job finishing the room after we left. The two wines out of those poured for the red flight that I wrote notes about were the Zinfandel and the Sangiovese. Both were wines to remember. read more

I am so excited for this great addition to the wine scene in downtown cottonwood! While my wife and myself are in no one wine experts we love us some wine tasting. 101 has a great selection of flights (only one I know of on the street with a rose or sweet flight which was a hit with the wife). Vince was working when we stopped in and was a great host informing us on the wine and engaging isn great conversation. Took advantage of the 5 dollar off a bottle coupon after checking in. read more

I'm shocked by the awesome reviews this place has. We drove up to cottonwood for the night to visit a bunch of the wineries and this was our least favorite by far. The ambiance... Well, there is none. There's bright florescent lights and zero personality. The server wasn't very friendly and made it seem as if we were bothering her by doing the tasting although we were the only people there. Not only that, but the pours were the smallest of all the wineries and they didn't give you a glass with it either. Overall, we all felt like the place was a total buzz kill compared to the cool places right on the same street/block, which is surprising since so many people say it's awesome. read more

Meet the Business Owner: Gavin and Irlyn G.

Business Owners and wine makers, Irlyn & Gavin, are long time Peoria residents and graduates from Peoria High School. Irlyn, class of '78 and a grade ahead, had not met Gavin in school. They met at a Class Reunion in 2005 and were married 7 months later. Between them they have 7 kids, all grown and living in the West Valley. With family, friends and a deep love for their community they decided to bring their passion for wine making to become Peoria's first Winery (101). "We produce exceptional wines from grapes grown right here in Arizona. You will be proud to share our wines with your friends and family! "

Farm fresh ingredients. Everything that's included in the experience is wild: the ride to and from NAZ, the wine tastings AND lunch. She provided snacks and water in the vehicle as well. I 100% recommend people try this out as a fun day trip with friends or even as a romantic day date. I can't wait to see her business grow when she's able to take groups bigger than three/four. I would do this again and try out her brewery tour next time.

This tasting room is located inside a local art gallery (Manheim) and it was a gem to find! The wine is FANTASTIC. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The patio is spacious and dog friendly. I would also like to note that the gallery has so many interesting pieces. read more

We'll get that and one other item - a charcuterie board, bread and/or veggies and a dip, or some other interesting app. Sometimes we get a salad, but order dressing on the side because we like it light. As lovely as Sip is, I don't know if people are impractical or enamored enough to drive a half hour up a mountain to enjoy that tiny establishment. So, it feels like a happy place to be around locals. Estrella is growing but not so much that we've ever felt crowded out at Sip. It's homey and warm and a relaxing place to feel at home, on our special couch. Please don't sit at our couch. lol

Parking can be a challenge, especially during peak hours. If the main lot is full, you can usually find additional parking in the nearby Costco lot and walk over. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, which made for a great experience. The wine tasting area is much smaller than the Avondale location, which has a much larger and more spacious setup. During our visit, we learned about the bonus bottle program and received helpful wine recommendations and tasting tips, which we really appreciated. Overall, we had a wonderful experience. If you're looking for a quieter visit, I recommend going during the week when it's less crowded. My only suggestions would be to expand the wine tasting area and improve the parking situation. Otherwise, it's a great place to enjoy a tasting and learn more about wine!
