A decent large park in Brooklyn that has plenty of space to roam around and enjoy the nice weather with the doggy or without . A section for the dogs to run and play , plenty of benches to sit and relax , basketball courts , picnic area , grassy area to lay down and do nothing at all. Well maintained by the parks dept and park is clean for the most part. Many things to do here regardless of the weather and the dogs will have bunch of fun around in circles .My cuz and I played some hoops while the park was still empty but after 11am the crowds start to come on in and that's our cue to explore other parts of the park. 4 stars on my yelp meter read more

Did you know that this park's namesake, Peter Cooper, invented jello? Oh yeah, and he founded a little educational institution called Cooper Union. I could keep on about his not-so-shabby list of accomplishments but I'll refrain. Cooper Park, on the site of Mr. Cooper's old glue factory, seems pretty low-key. Even friends who've lived in Williamsburg for years and years only recently discovered this park. There is so much to keep you entertained: peoplewatching (hippie dad doing yoga on the grass), dogwatching (adorable puppies!), families grilling out, dudes skateboarding, men playing handball (complete with arguments). Stuck between 4 and 5 stars for this one but I'll round up to 5. On a sunny afternoon, bring a blanket to lay out on, plop down, and enjoy Cooper Park! read more

Came to this park a few time. Cooper park has a lot to offer. Really appreciate this park for having a skateboarding area. Small but it gets crowdeddddddddd. As early as 10am, you'll start to feel it. Appreciate this park for having a fully enclosed handball court with gate doors. There's a nice playground for kids, and plenty open areas I seen people barbecuing. read more

Dog run in the summer can be very hot. I wish there are more big trees like another dog run in the area does. On the weekday is good for training because it less distraction. read more

Great place to bring family and friends especially on weekend. The place gets crowded quick. Nice huge park to run or jogging. There is a children's park area and pretty good. There are sprinklers swings, basketball court, skateboard ramps. Very creative layout NYC. read more

I'm surprised that this park doesn't have more reviews, it being the now undiscovered country beyond lorimer that is being discovered. The neighborhood out by Graham is exploding, with gorgeous buildings, and all still very affordable. My recent discovery of this park went something like this... I moved out to Dekalb L stop, to inhabit my friends huge railroad while I continue to try to sell my loft in Union Square. I know i know what you're thinking, but that's not what the story is about! While planning my daily workout regimen, I started looking over a map. Since I knew the Morgan stop area, 3rd Ward, House of Yes etc, I thought to run down Knickerbocker to Morgan and continue out. The map showed cooper park, so I made that my midpoint destination. Boy was I lucky! Turns out the park has not one, but *TWO* fitness areas. One has a pole with triangular bars, great for muscle up, pullups or dips even. It also has the setup for situps and candlesticks. Good stuff. The other area has the standard low & higher pullup bars, plus bars for doing circular swings, and such. There is also some rock climbing walls although it had just finished raining, so I skipped those. All in all this is a great spot, with lots of workout options. It's a good size and the times I've gone is fairly quiet. A few people walking their dogs but that is it. Feels a lot like San Francisco! read more

I'm not sure why this park gets bad reviews. I think it's delightful! In the summertime you can see people barbecuing, playing volleyball, hanging out, walking their dogs. In the winter you see skateboarders, bikers and runners. The park is flanked by gorgeous old-growth trees and the people around are very nice. Not a lot of people know about it so you got to have the place mostly to yourself. There are tons of amenities like a bathroom, tennis courts, volleyball courts, skateboard/BMX park, BBQ pits and basketball courts. Go to this park and have a fantastic time! read more

I am writing to express my serious disappointment for the significant failure on the part of those rehabilitating Cooper Park in Brooklyn NY. The once vibrant, dog-friendly and valuable dog run has been replaced with an animal prison I would never wish to subject upon the dog of my worst enemy. It is obvious that little thought went into an integral part of the Brooklyn community, our pets. Shame on whoever approved the final park design for their short-sighted and clearly apathetic vision for their community. Those I know who were involved were North Brooklyn Parks director Stephanie Thayer and Councilmember Diana Reyna. It is a distinctive disgrace they should be ashamed of. They clearly think dogs are not an important part of the community. read more

Generally a well maintained park. My concern is when will the water source be turned on??? It's mid-March and there is no information line to call and get the right hydration for the animals. 311 is useless and offers no help. Can we all call and file complaints with the Parka committee so they will finally pay attention?! read more

There are no Volleyball Courts, however, a bunch of people have come in to the Park over the years and set up nets in several areas of the tiny park and have proceeded to ruin the grass leaving dirt area's that will never grow grass again. Not to mention the Rolling Rock bottle caps they leave behind embedded in the dirt. It's a nice Park with a lovely Children's area the Montessori pre k school uses often and a cool Dog Park, Handball, tennis and Basketball courts, but now the one small area that had a wee path to walk on with about 3 giant trees covering it and some grass area's for relaxing have been turned into EIGHT BBQ Pits and the space is no longer "tranquil"...Some people feel it's THEIR Right to occupy EVERY SINGLE corner of everywhere and then to FIGHT and bully-down those who think otherwise. Because SOME people like a green space to remain simply "green" they're called racist. read more

There is a farmers market now on Sundays from 9 am to 4 pm I got some stuff there on Sunday and the Vendor right on the corner had amazing stuff at great prices. The Radishes were the Size of apples, they had cilantro, onions, garlic, potatoes, lettuce, & fresh Kale. I spent $20 bucks and I still have tons of food left. I reccomend you check it out. They also accept WIC coupons & EBT Food stamps, if you don't have cash like me :-) read more
