This skate plaza was built for the Maloof money cup comp back in 2010. It was graciously offered to NYC after the competition and the city gratefully accepted. It was designed by Steve Rodriguez and built by "California Skateparks" The location of the park may be hard to find for some while entering the park from its many entrances. The skate plaza is located near the astral fountain, adjacent to the new York state pavilion. The surface is really nice and smooth concrete and there is no attendant. The park can be skated from dawn till dusk.. Park lights slightly illuminate the park just enough to continue skating after hours. You can expect all the regulars here. Scooters, Boarders, Bladers and Bikers all here at once making the best of it. Pot heads lighting up joints and blunts, kids tagging up all over the place and basically anything goes here. We value the woman with the empanadas that rolls through every couple of hours to feed and keep us hydrated. The Muscle Milk truck rolls through regularly and Redbull also shows up sometimes to give us free promotional drinks for advertising purposes which is really nice. I personally love this park and would defend it with my life... keep that in mind if you decide to desecrate the park in my presence. This is an upgrade because Electric Vehicles weren't able to get a charge before. Believe it or not, this place provides opportunities for kite flyers, if I'm not mistaken, I may have flew one here once. The bathroom were decent but people over packed the trash cans around the track which is very unattractive but hey, it takes Every Kinda People, to make this world go around, Robert Palmer said that, I didn't. The trail itself is a mix of dirt paths and paved sections, with enough tree cover to make it comfortable even on a warmer day. The loop isn't overly strenuous, but it gives you a good walk--perfect for clearing your head or getting in some low-impact cardio. I appreciated how clean and well-maintained everything was, and it felt safe, even solo. You'll pass a mix of joggers, dog walkers, and families, but it never felt crowded. There aren't many elevation changes, so don't expect a hike, but for a refreshing, straightforward walk with nature and fresh air, this loop is a win.

The much larger western side has all of the sports fields, courts, playgrounds, facilities, and plenty of seating areas. It's always busy no matter the weather or time of day, with everything from afterschool sports to dog meet-ups to people jogging. The main seating area (above the baseball fields) includes a 9/11 memorial, and on a clear day, you can get a view of the Empire State Building. The smaller eastern section is the quieter, "no active sports" area. It has more trees and a few benches, making it a peaceful spot to sit and relax. There is a walking path that circles and winds through the entirety of Juniper Valley. The outer path on the perimeter is about a mile and a half and makes for a great place to walk or run without having to dodge cars. It's also pretty scenic, with many beautiful brick homes lining the park.

For western bound, take exit 32 toward Bell Blvd. At the traffic light, turn right. This parcel was acquired in Septmber 1950. The plan was to develope the shoreline area. However, it didn't carry out due to the Throgs Neck Bridge construction and the fiscal crisis of the 1970s. And Parks renamed the property's present name in 1973, from Clearview Park. Bayside, originally inhabited by the Matinecock tribe, was granted to William Lawrence by King Charles I in 1644, spurring European settlement. It became part of Queens County in 1683. Most early records were lost in an 1780s fire linked to arson. During the Revolutionary War, Bayside supported the British and faced two failed Patriot raids. The arrival of the North Shore Railroad in 1866 brought rapid growth, attracting wealthy New Yorkers and actors. After the film industry moved to California in the 1920s, Bayside's economy relied on the Little Neck shellfish beds.

They are an incredible organization that hosts adaptive sporting events for those with disabilities. Pier 62 Skate Park is pretty spectacular, featuring several massive skate bowls and a multitude ramps of while providing awesome views of the hudson. Even if you don't skate or have the opportunity to volunteer at a similar event, this park is perfect for people watching and just taking in the action. It was my first time here but definitely won't be my last!

As of today the bowl is still under construction. Yes, there are scooter kids and a lot of bikes at times but you have to share the space. Definitely one of the better skate parks in the city.
