Verified with New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs, there is no electrical license for Mr. Ray…read moreMechanical. I hired Mr. Ray Mechanical to replace an electrical panel. He advised me that he needed to install emergency disconnect which he didn't tell me and he wanted additional $400. He told me its the code requirement. I agreed. He replaced the electrical panel and installed the emergency disconnect. He gave the Certificate of Insurance for Mr. Ray Mechanical LLC. However, I found out the electric permit was issued to a different company. He work failed inspection because the emergency disconnect was not needed. He misunderstood the code. The town's inspector had to write down the code for him. Then, he had to add main breaker to the panel. I refused to pay the $400 which was for the unnecessary emergency disconnect. I had to spend two more half days to facilitate the revision of the panel work and coordinate town's re-inspection. Ramon, the owner of Mr. Ray Mechanical insists he has electrical license. He does not. Anyone wants to hire him to do electrical or any home improvement project should ask him to show his license.

Paula was a doll, showed us the upstairs filled with mostly pendant lighting, floor lamps and some smaller chandeliers. Since so much has changed in lighting trend, getting rid of our wrought iron dining area chandelier had to happen as well- especially since it has a country-chicish look I don't like anymore in my home. There's another lighting store on Central Avenue which we could've gone to- but based on reviews, so glad this place came out on top. Owner Glenn, was helpful, patient and friendly. Even when hubs and I didn't find what we wanted on their website, Paula helped locate it in their paper catalog. DO NOT pay this man any money up front. He came to my home to give me a quote to run an electrical…read moreline from the basement to the attic to supply electricity to an OUTLET. He said the job would take 5 hours and he would have to break the wall in my dining room to run the line which would cost $1350 plus an initial $175 consultation fee and said 1/2 the funds were due upfront so I paid him $700. Upon consultation, he noted there was an electrical box already sitting 2ft from the outlet and said if I can run a line from this box to the outlet I will only charge $175 consultation fee since there's not much work involved. He returned with a worker and was able to connect to the box next to the outlet, it took him a little over an hour to TRACE the line from the basement to the box, without have to break walls and run a hard line from the basement. He then charged me $905 and ended up requesting an I became upset. This is not what he promise. I asked him for a breakdown of what he's charging for, he said he charges for a minimum of 2.5 hours plus he needed an extra man (which he also charged for) for the job so the work was shared and both of them had to be paid and he's charging for materials?!?? There were no materials involved except that he relaxed the sockets. I did not pay him the extra $205 because to run a simple electrical line from a nearby box to an outlet does not cost $700! DO NOT pay the contractors any monies upfront. If they are legit and have a business, they should have the funds to cover the job and collect after the work is finished.
