Solid, no frills spot. They take walkins which is helpful when I get my eyebrows done at Classic Shine down the street. I've only gotten pedicures there so i can't speak to their other services but I've been happy with them for the most part, although last time my guy didn't buff my toenails so in the end it didn't look as smooth as I'm used to. I wasn't paying attention so I didn't notice until later but for a $30 pedicure, it wasn't a big deal. Anyway, Cool Nails is a solid and affordable option and worth a shot. read more

This shop isn't terrible, but if you have expectations when it comes to your nails this place won't work. The people are nice, but not everyone knows what they're doing. I've been here once and will not return. read more

My sister and I have been coming to this salon for almost 20 years, and it never disappoints. Tu and Kelly are the best nail technicians--professional, detail-oriented, and extremely knowledgeable. I always leave happy with the results. My latest favorite service is "Almond shape, milky white ombré." Highly recommend! read more

I came to this nail salon to do a fill in, when i got there I had asked the technician if he can go over it with more acrylic so they won't break so easily ( I also said I would pay more) he then proceeded to tell me no and i reminded him that since he filled it down so thin they are going to break and still said no. not even a few hours after i left my thumb nail broke. I went back the next day and explained what happened and would like to get it fixed and also make them thicker. He then again told me no it's my fault and all the other technicians/manager hovered over me yelling at me saying they won't fix it or give me a refund and I walked out crying. This business is super unprofessional read more

Excellent pedicure and gel manicure at a reasonable price. Super pleased that they were able to put an acrylic on one nail that was much shorter than the others and make it look natural. Good, caring, relaxed atmosphere. Happy they are close by. Gets busy! read more

Cool Nails - Nail Salons Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

The man drilled and dented my nail bed. Terrible service avoid this place at all costs. I went in for a reg pedi and French nail, it was my first time going here as my regular salon down the street was closed that day, I had red gel nail polish when I went in and the nail polish wasn't properly removed before starting. I pointed it out and he used the filer to "remove it" it didn't get removed and so when he applied the next layer he had to attempt to file it down since the layers of polish are semi transparent with french and the red was showing through. So then my polish had the white markings of the file down showing I mentioned this and he tried to tell me that's just what my nail looked like, I told him my original nail did not look like that and he then realized in order to correct he would have to remove the original layer of polish that had been left, he proceeded to carelessly remove the gel polish he had put in causing two dents on my nailbeds he tried rubbing it off and that's what made me decide I did not want to continue the service. He asked a lady over and she took a look at my nails and tried to tell me that the reason for it happening was that my nails were too thin. I have really healthy nails, my nails are not thin, I told her this and said I just wanted to end the service, and have the rest of the gel removed without causing the dents, When I went to pay this woman tried charging me for a manicure, I told her I would only be paying for a pedicure as my manicure was not done then she charged me an extra $5 for the removal for a total of $35 + the tip I gave my pericurist. This place is terrible and they will try to tell you it's you when you bring up any concern to avoid fault. The lady did say sorry at the end but this place gave me the ick, 3 hours I wasted here, save your money there's quite literally a nail salon down the street that is the exact opposite of this place name and everything read more

$7.00 eyebrow wax. Crappy job. I had to ask her to trim them with the scissors. Did not advise me there would be a wait and had me waiting. 30 min to get started on. 2 workers doing nothing while i waited. $27.00 no chip manicure. 4 out of 10 nails chipped in one week. Cold water for my hands to soak in. Cold wax for my eyebrows. Dirty table. Didnt clean the dust from the last customer off just threw a towel over it. read more

On the one hand, the staff is awesone, friendly and attentive, their prices are reasonable and the salon is pretty modern and well decorated but the services I received were a bit dissappointing. The pedicure was ok, the nails were clipped and polished ok, but my heels were left pretty rough and the edges of my big toes were not trimmed well of dead skin. My manicure was not good at all, when I got home I noticed bare spots on the sides of a couple nails, the polish was too thin in some areas and it did not even last a week. Maybe it was an off night, I would give them a second try but if the results are the same I will have to go elsewhere for my foot pampering needs! read more

Very nice people, came in for a pedicure and the wait was worth it. They took their time and had good attitudes! Will be coming back

I used to live around the corner of this place but I never paid attention. One afternoon, I was driving home from work and decided to stop by and see how the prices were. I was just coming in for a pedi, but decided to get both done since most places around the city offer mani-pedis for $35 dollars now. Yes, that $5 is important to me. He, yes "he," did a pretty good job! Very thorough and made my nails so smooth and clean! He even managed to get my little, pinky toe, to look like something. For most people, this is a challenge. Yes, it's that tiny. The whole experience was quite pleasant, he was quiet and didn't speak much English. He would just look up me, smile and giggle. Despite the fact he cut me once and the whole staff was eating lunch and watching the futbol game in Spanish (this was during world cup), I would definitely go back. read more

I have lived down the street from this place for years but never gave it a try until today. I was very pleasantly surprised! I had one of the best pedicures I've ever had and a great manicure as well. My technician (Jenny I think) took the time to actually massage my feet and legs for more than 5 seconds, checked to make sure she got all the cuticles done right, and just did a great job all around. Place was very clean and everyone was masked up. Friendly staff and fellow customers were even nice. Sad I slept on this place for so long! read more

This was my first visit here. When I got there, I was the only customer, and they were all sitting talking to each other. I got a full, and the girl who was doing it kept talking to one of her coworkers screaming across the room. She dug into my nailbeds with her nails over an over which was painful. Then when time to put the topcoat on my gel she used actual clear nail polish by mistake and it had to be completely redone by I am assuming the owner (an older gentleman) who didn't even say anything or acknowledge the mistake. Still charged me full price. Definitely wont be back here. Horrible service. read more

I'm torn, because I've had good manicure and pedicures here before, but recently the service has fallen off. If I could do 2.5 stars, I would. The good: - great prices for a mani-pedi pairing - they can usually squeeze me in after work for an eyebrow wax, and they do a nice job - the lady who usually does my nails (whose name I don't know) remembers me, is pleasant and does a good job - new decor makes the place feel a lot less shady and fly-by-night than it used to The bad - they don't write down appointments. My sister and I walked in at 6:55 and referenced our 7:00 appointments. The book was empty, and the guy at the desk just snapped "No!" They asked us to wait just a bit. We walked out at 7:40, at which time no one had acknowledged us or given us an idea of when they might be able to take us. - The nice lady who does a great job on my nails seems to do the lion's share of the work there, so she's usually working on two clients at once. - the front desk doesn't seem organized. There's no sign-in sheet and no way to tell how many people are actually waiting or just hanging out, when it's your turn, etc. It's a mixed bag. Like I said, I've had a few great experiences there, so maybe I'll give it another try at some point. read more

Kelly is the best. She does a great job Been going there for 4+ years. It is not a fancy spa or expensive, you get a mani & pedi for ~ 33 bucks! read more

I went to this place to get a mani and pedi for my vacation. Good for them that they were busy and had a lot of business, but I have never heard so much screaming back and forth between the workers, it was terrible! My manicure and pedicure turned out alright. I got it done the day before I left for my trip, well my manicure and pedicure didn't even last till I got on the plane. Both my sisters nails and mine began to bubble and chip immediately. It was extremely upsetting because that has never happened to me before. I will not be returning here. Beware! read more

I go there often. It is well worth the drive. They are friendly and do a great job on your nails. I love both the pedicures as well as the manicures. I usually get my nails done pretty plain. I asked for some designs but really did not know what I wanted so I left both the colors and the design up to the girls. And I love my nails! read more

This place is the worst nail shop! I got my nails done and the nail tech put like 8 coats of polish I told her it would never dry

The staff here is really nice! ... I get gel overlay on my real nails done by Danny and he goes above and beyond to get exactly the look I'm going for and the no chip color lasts at least 3 weeks, maybe longer except my nails grow out. The owner even went above and beyond by buying some colors she thought I would like based on a conversation during one of my visits. read more

Been going here for years. It's the only place I trust everytime ,) my daughter only comes here as well. Great quality and great pricing

Loved how my eyebrows were done. My go to. Nails are done beautiful as well and temperature is checked in the beginning.

POOR QUALITY!!! After 3 days, I noticed the top clear coat was peeling off, then 1 days later my first nail popped off!!! Then after ONLY 5 days of getting my full set, 4 MORE POPPED OFF!!! I couldn't believe it!!! NOT HAPPY that I spent all that $$ for nails that lasted only 1 week!!!!! read more

I had a hard time rating. I was torn between 3 stars and 2 stars. Why they are 3 stars worthy: Super low pricing. Nice and friendly staff. Sometimes you are in and out fast. They do a great job for acrylics and manicures. Bring them a picture of what you have in mind and they will mirror it to the best of their ability! Usually turns out wonderful, especially that day I wanted zebra nails with some splashes of color! Why they are 2 stars worthy: Make an appointment? Forget about it! They don't write it down and I guarantee you will go in there at your time and you WILL wait a long time. Want a design? Hopefully you aren't calculating your budget in your head! They just pull a number out their a**. You could get a crazy design for $8 one day, and you could get that same design next week for $3. As I said, it's hard to judge. Timing is everything. If you went in there and no one was there then you will walk out thinking "what a steal for such a small cost! great job!." A few weeks later you could walk out cursing their name when you weren't helped because they didn't honor your appointment. read more

Great service and very friendly. Took their time every o go there for No Chip Manicures and tried Acrylic last week. Will go back soon

I have this tried this place twice now! Both times I was greatly disappointed. This was my second time thinking maybe it was just there first person I worked with. I came in asking for a no chip manicure. I KNOW and seen what a good nail job looks like. This one too was done so poorly. My edges aren't fully covered, which I mentioned. The nail polish at the top of my nail is smudged and not cleanly lined and the sides weren't even cleaned away properly. I did come home and clean up most of it. I felt rushed out of there so it was to the point where I felt there was no point in complaining any further. I wish I had a before and after picture of how, sadly, much better my old manicure looked. It seems to me I should have just gone somewhere else. read more

I went to Cool Nails today for a manicure and pedicure. I was a terrible customer and smudged three of my nails. The technician that was helping me was extremely gracious and redid them all. She also helped me move all my stuff do the drying station and applied an oil to my pedicure to ensure I didn't smudge them again. They do this kind of stuff in other places, but her extremely positive attitude and willingness to help really won me over. Plus, the manicure and pedicure only cost $30 and she did an excellent job with my cuticles and dry heels. read more

I've been here twice for a pedicure & it's been one of the best I've gotten in the city so far. I'm very picky... and they do a great job. My pedicure is "regular" yet it lasts 45 min & they also use a scrub (which isn't extra $ like most places) definitely my GO TO for pedis! read more

Never again. 1. Went to use the bathroom after the gentleman that is always in there, I am guessing he is the owner, there was poop in the toilet. It would not flush. The bathroom itself is very filthy and there was no towels to dry your hands, also the soap smelled funky... I should have gone with my gut and ran. I didn't...shame on me. 2. My man got a pedi too, they took him first while I was dealing with the toilet issue, he just assumed that I would be seen by the lady who was just sitting around. No. She took a walk in while I was dealing with the bathroom thing (I'm pregnant, I really had to pee BAD and had to wait for the toilet to stop running for it finally FLUSH!). Annnnnnyhow, I sat in a pedicure chair next to him for 45 mins soaking my feet while they took care of everyone else. Even Poopypants was sitting around at one point and I figured he would at least start me, nope, took another walk in! Again, should have said "forget this" but I didn't. 3. So finally after all that, someone starts on me. Things are going ok, nicked my cuticle and was a little rough with the pumice stone but all is ok, and then, while my feet are out of the water she puts the "cheese grater" thing in the water to rinse it off or something, and puts my feet back into the water!!!!!!! NOOOOO NO NO NO NO! Needless to say, I finally got out of there, I skipped the manicure, was not about to deal with that. read more

I typically will give businesses the benefit of the doubt but there is a reason this place was empty. It was so dirty and the employees were completely unprofessional. The gentleman who did my nails smelled of booze and popped a piece of gum to cover it up. One worker was picking her nose and another eating chips while on a laptop disinterested that there was even 1 customer. It was so bad I thought I was on an episode of pranked. They are more expensive than any other salon and I would never return. read more

I'm going to start off by saying Kelly does an AMAZING job and doing acrylic nails! Love how she takes her time. She's done my eyebrows before and she always makes it perfect. She's a really great person to talk to in general. What disturbs me is the screaming back and forth from the ladies. I've gone here ever since I stopped going to 'Andrew's Nails'. The first visit was successful and they did an awesome job. I just wish they made their other costumers feel welcomed. Wouldn't give them that 1 star, because of their screaming and sometimes attitude to the customers. I still love this place and their work. Will be looking forward to come back soon. read more
