The only reason that this place does not get 5 stars is because of the location and because it didn't include the typical free massage that most nail places on Long Island include! Tony I is INCREDIBLE!!! I got a full acrylic gel set with two colors of polish and a hand drawn design on every nail for only $50! I would recommend street parking because the parking lot around back is definitely sketchy- like, I would not want to be walking back there as a female alone at night. Not the cleanest salon to go to. On the other hand, it is decently priced for the area. I like Annie's nails better though.

They are not the nicest people or the most welcoming. Every chance the nail tech had he tried to charge me extra for something I did not ask for. I was very excited to go after see such good reviews on yelp then i went and the place was not the nicest but thats fine (i read that) and it doesn't tell you how the service will be. So I went in with an open mind.... What i can say is the nail tech that did my nails, shaped it nicley and thats about it. My acrylic nails were too thick even after i told him to not make it thick, they were lopsided (my nail when from thick to thin and the ends of it), after a week my nail looked like it needed a fill-in. The price wasnt bad because my nails werent done to standards im use to. I have been to other nail salons in Baldwin and this one I will never return to again. read more

I love love love this nail salon Tiffany is amazing at her job and has a wonderful personality which is always a plus. I live in queens and I come all the way here for her to do my nails. She never disappoints. Every time she does my nails people always stop and ask me where I do them. I'm so happy I found her. I gave a review of 1 Star, because half a star wasn't an option. Stay away from this place, mainly for your health and comfort. Even if my nails came out looking decently done, being aggressively stabbed/cut by nail tools, that I later saw was not sterilized properly after using on me, and being told "no pain, no gain" by my manicurist, is definitely not the experience I was expecting or would recommend to anyone. What scares me the most, aside from the unpleasant experience and lack of courtesy, is the fact that fungus and disease can be spread so easily, and my technician (older guy with glasses,) could care less. This was my first time coming to the salon. I had gone to another salon in which my acrylic was very messed up so, I decided to come to cool nails to get it fixed. An older man ,with a short cut , was supposed to fill in my nails and fix them. However, he just slapped more acrylic on and rushed through my manicure. He was also very rude and kept pushing my hands. He was mad about something but, I didn't know what he was saying. After he finished, I realized that my nails were super lumpy at the touch. I asked him to fix it and he said "that's how they were when you came in ". I CAME TO GET MY NAILS FIXED! Well anyway, he takes the gel polish off and repaints them. In the process he breaks my nail and just says that's how they were before. My nails aren't lumpy anymore so obviously it was the way he painted my nails the first time. Cool Nails is GOLD. I've been going here for over 5 years and have never been disappointed. I've had my nails done by every person who works here and no one has failed to impress. I usually get gel tips and I have never had a nail come off before a fill-in (I get fill-ins every 3 weeks!). I've gone to other salons where I'd lose a nail after a week but that has never been the case here. If you're looking for somewhere to go where you know you'll get your money's worth, this is the place. I have never written a yelp review but this one is truly deserved. After a couple tries of Cool Nails, I think I've had my last straw. Literally every time, besides the one time that the owner, Tiffany did my nails, I've gone home and re did them myself from them being just unsatisfying. I can't lie, I am a picky person. But I shouldn't be leaving the salon as unhappy and frustrated as I did today. Isn't getting your nails done supposed to be relaxing ? Anyway, the woman who's name I didn't get used the wrong type of brush to apply my acrylic. I've gone to great salons and I've gone to horrible salons so trust me, I know the process. Her brush was too big for the acrylic, making a very sloppy application. Before she filed my nails, I had acrylic all on the sides. This also created an uneven surface that I assumed she didn't think I'd notice. Whatever. One (I guess good) thing I noticed was that she took her time. If my nails would've came out like they LOOKED like Time was put in, then I would've been okay with that. But no, I spent over an hour ( just a fill in with no wait time to be seen) for my nails to look sloppy and honestly embarrassing. She painted my nails, and I had messed up a thumb. My fault. She fixed it fine no problem. Then, I hit my thumb and pointer finger on the light they use for their desks, so she had to fix those again. Again, my fault. She tried to just apply more nail polish over the pointer finger and it looked disgusting and lumpy so I asked her to take off the nail polish. She was okay with It, she was a nice lady don't get me wrong. But she filed my nail ( I hope y'all know how dusty it gets when you do that) and my painted finger had the dust particles on It. I also noticed that the sides of my nails were just sloppy and blotchy. I ended up telling her to take all of my nail polish off because I realized I could just do better myself. She told me if I wanted to choose any other colors but I just calmly told her that I like the color, but I do not like how it is being applied. Called my cab, and left. I'm currently fixing my nails as I type this out. I feel like there's always something with this salon, and I'm just honestly tired of It. I go to school near this nail salon. I did a lot of research on a good place to go and eventually decided to go to this one. My nails came out flawlessly. I told the lady (who seemed like one of the owners) that I like my nails very short and most nail places do not do that. She made them all the same shape and the length was perfect. She really did an excellent job. It's a small little place, I have been to nail salons that have more of a salon feel this one was just meh (atmosphere wise). Cons- (1)Charge you for every little thing such as nail repair and I have been to more luxurious salons and have not been charged for nail repair. I have UV gel nails and in total for the fill in was 45$. (2) The employees were overall nice but can be rude if you don't get more service or use a credit card ($15 min). I used my debit card and they asked me multiple times if I had cash and it took them a while to stop trying to talk me out of not using my card I would go again but this is not my "holy grail" place read more

I'm surprised at all the good reviews ..maybe I went on a bad day. I'm usually not one to write negative reviews but I have to share my experience. The lady that did my pedicure cut me twice but I let that go. When I got my pedicure and my acrylic set I was very happy with the outcome, it looked great! Then about 3 days later my the nail polish on my toes started changing colors drastically! I assumed it was a temperature changing color and I wasn't paying attention when I picked it but the color was only changing on my toes and not on my hands ..I looked passed that also. About 2 days later my pinky nail broke in half straight down the middle. Although it broke fairly easy I just shrugged it off considering things happen and I went somewhere else to have my pinky nail fixed and had a color change. 3 days later my thumb nail breaks clean across the middle! Now I know something is up because my nails have never broken like this, especially with an acrylic set over it. By a week and a half after my visit every single one of my nails are cracked, if not completely broken. I don't know if I should be blaming the nail tech ..or maybe she just had really old or cheap acrylic powder. The reviews say that Tiffany is great. I did not sit with Tiffany. After reading a few reviews that classified Cool Nails as clean and convenient, with skilled technicians, I immediately made them my new nail salon. The guy and the girl who sit to the left when you enter the salon are not welcoming and need to learn good customer service. I went in for a pedicure and end up getting a manicure also.I ask the girl sitting next to the guy to check if my toes were dry she ignored me.I then ask for the person who did my pedicure he was no where to be found.The girl reluctantly came and pull the tissues around my toes stating the polish was dry and messed up my big toe then refused to fix it because she wanted me to wait for the person who did my pedicure, then the two of them started speaking their language which is so rude. I left with a messed up toe and will never return to this place.They need to learn "customer service". read more

I came here because my regular spot was booked & I needed to get my nails done. So I looked on Yelp & based on the reviews, went there. Place was clean, I will give them that. I came in to have SNS done to my nails. First, I didn't like the way they removed it. SNS is usually removed by first dipping a cotton ball in nail polish remover, then wrapping the finger in aluminum foil for a max of 15 mins. One of the workers gave me a bowl & had me soak my nails in acetone for almost 30 minutes! My hands & fingers were extremely dry. The guy that did my nails try to put oil on my hands like that was supposed to help. Ok, on to the application of SNS. Usually there's 3 applications of color. He only applied 2. Then when my nails were finally done, I washed my hands, but they only had those cheap gas station paper towels. What happened to the warm washcloths? What really took the cake was less than 2 weeks later, two of my nails cracked! SNS is supposed to last 3-4 weeks with no chipping/cracking! I didn't even bother to go back to Cool Nails to have them fixed. I just made an appt at my regular salon & took the whole thing off! A waste of money. Not cool! read more
