This place gets five stars for atmosphere and a solid three to 3.5 for the food. The decor is pretty rad. We saw tons of guys walking in with cowboy hats to this old western themed restaurant so that may have improved my overall rating. It was too cute! We had about a half hour wait unless we wanted to sit on the very wet patio so we grabbed a drink from the bar and waited for a table. The bartender could have been friendlier and the Moscow mule type drink my boyfriend ordered had no booze but the wine was fine. The dining room is seriously the cutest. It's like an old west town. We loved it. Our server was attentive and pleasant. I got the chicken parm which came with cheesy garlic bread and my bf got the special steak with a shrimp and beans, potato and bread. My parm was standard; huge though. Boyfriends dinner was also pretty standard but the beans are actually outstanding. Overall the food was average. We would go back here for the cool vibe and decor. I think I'd probably hang out in the bar if the bartender were friendlier. I'd try another of the steaks because although we weren't won over by his the place gets awards for steak. So ordered some burgers for take out when we got home it wasn't even the right order and they overcharged us had to go back and one of my orders was a California Burger and they said they don't make a California Burger.... Really? Because it is on your menu on your website. When my husband returned, the salads were left out of the bag, and my burger was missing items, and the bun was so soggy, I had to remove it. First of all we have been going to this place (Cool Hand Luke's) for the last 10 or so years. The last time we went about a month or less we just thought they were having a bad night. Now tonight the only thing they got right were the margaritas. The steaks were too small, too fat and under done for medium. The potatoes were not completely cooked and the cheese seemed like it was government rations. The shrimp batter was out of a box or was from 7-11 freezer and the ribs were way over done and dry. After further investigation it appears that the Resturant has a new owner and he has done major cutbacks on the food to make up for the Gov hourly increases to the employees. It seems the new owner ran the local Tahoe Joes out of business and now is doing the same to Cool Hand Luke's of Clovis. We are now looking for a new Steakhouse and will not be returning to this place. read more

ALL of our food was bland and lacked taste. I ordered a steak for shit sake and had to request A1 sauce. I felt embarrassed asking for it lol. Liked the atmosphere plenty of fun decor, choice of booths or table , the waiter was excellent very attentive and friendly. We wanted the fried mushrooms but they only serve those at the bar so we went with the sauteed mushrooms and the bacon wrapped shrimp instead. Mushrooms were good not as good as the fried mushrooms I had once before ,the bacon wrapped shrimp were good however it taste like they used strong maple bacon or spread maple syrup on top of them,which was an over kill for us. Taste good but the sweetness over powered the shrimp at the end. Our dinner salad had the ingredients to be great but with all white,pale lettuce it fell short. The steak was awesome, baked potato good but salty, fried shrimp had good crispy batter. Over all would i come back, yes,would it be my first steak house in mind or would i suggest it first,no. It has potential, the menu just needs to be more balanced quality and balanced taste where the menu from the bread,appetizers, and entree all compliment each other. This was my first time in a really long time at this restaurant. Had dinner with my coworkers. There was a total of 14 people and they were very good at accommodating the group. We were sat in a private room for large parties. We all ordered drinks from the bar. The group noted the showgirl and beergarita was pretty good. Me and another coworker had the Malibu on the beach and that too was very good if you like fruity drinks (good amount of alcohol but not an overwhelming taste). I ordered the tri-tip with red potato mashers. The meal comes with soup/salad and 1 side dish of your choice. I ordered the tri-tip well done. When I got the plate the meat was too rough and didn't really taste like it had a lot of flavor. Another coworker also ordered the tri-tip medium well and he too commented that the meat was kinda tough to chew. The mashers were really good with a soft and smooth consistency. Overall it was a good place for drinks and appetizers. I've had better tri-tip at many other restaurants. Maybe it was just what I ordered but I didn't think it was that great. I am willing to try this place again if I'm in the area but won't go out of my way to choose this place for dinner anytime soon. read more

Went here at 11am to bypass any lunch crowds and we were the only ones there which was great! We sat in the bar area and ordered some drinks. I got the CHL's Moscow mule and it was really good. The waitress brought over the bread, butter and beans and I must say the sourdough bread is amazing but beware you will spoil your meal if you have a whole roll LOL. I ordered the chicken club and only ate half. The sandwich was ok but kinda lacked any real flavor it was just mediocre. The service was ok with our waitress not being overly nice by any means. I'll probably be back if anything for the drinks if I am ever on that side of town again. If you like sports this is for sure a great place to go to watch a game and have a good drink. read more

Had a good time with the fam the other night, we hadn't been out in a while. I got the ribs and while their not fall off the bone they are delicious! You just need a good set of teeth lol. Three of use got the western burger good as always. The other items order were a chicken sandwich, chicken salad and a couple of prime rib dips all were delicious as well. Hubby even said next time his getting the dip. My meal came with a soup or salad I chose the clam chowder...it was ok taste like Progresso. The atmosphere was great we were seated at the fancy dining table next to the big fireplace. This was a favorite place to go in Clovis but not any more. Went there to celebrate a birthday and was shocked about how this place has gone down hill. Our party had ordered both the rib eye and the T-bone steaks. The quality of the meat was horrible. Reminded me of a bad Sizzler steak. Both were tough and hard to cut. Wow, I remember this place for having awesome steaks. Service was disappointing as well. When we were ordering the waiter got snippy when my friend asked him about ordering a steak medium rare. "How am I supposed to know what you think medium rare is?" When I asked him if the prime rib was still available rare, he said, "No, if you want rare you have be here at 4 when we open. It continues to cook and gets more done after that (it was 6:00 pm). Service was also very rushed. We never got to finish on course before the next one showed up. I completely sympathize with restaurant staff particularly during this time. We went into the bar area and got the last table. The waitress said she needed a minute. No problem, however 20 minutes later we still hadn't seen her at all. She then comes to the table next to us asks them a question and doesn't acknowledge us at all. I finally got up to ask her thinking she had forgotten, she said she had the whole floor by herself so it would still be awhile, had she acknowledged us when she came to the table next to us that would have been fine but to just ignore us wasn't okay. Love this place usually. Last time we went the service was so bad it took about 2 1/2 hours for 4 people to eat a 2:30 lunch. Considering that two people got salads and we went on Veteran's day you would think they would have had more than one server. The service has really suffered the last several times I've been there. My family and I eat out a lot! This is the first time that ALL OF US (5 ppl) have had food super hot and tasting amazing, at the same time! The service was great, and atmosphere was pleasant as well. Our waitress Chelsey was extremely accommodating and asked us before we asked her, if we needed anything. She has great intuition and was on top of refills, asked how everything tasted, and got us boxes quickly! So..... I guess I should already know if we get sat in a back room, we'll be forgotten. After sitting for a while with our salads, I decided to go in search of utensils for our entire table. Walked through the restaraunt with a stack and no one even asked if I needed help. Server never came to refills on our drinks. We got salmon, steak, and ribs. The salmon tasted like it was marinated in sugar or syrup, otherwise flavorless. Ribs were okay, but the BBQ sauce had no flavor, just more over sweetened sauce. The steak was supposed to be cooked medium. Maybe it was over cooked or a bad cut. I literally had use my upper body strength to saw through it. It did have a nice seasoning though. At the end of this the bill had an 18% gratuity automatically added. The service didn't even warrant a 10% tip. My family will definitely not be coming back here. read more
