If you are looking for a place where you are met with no service and a bad attitude this is the spot for you. Stopped in to what we thought would be is a quaint breakfast spot. There were 3 customers in front of us finishing up their order. When the cashier/waiter asked for payment and realized these kids only had a credit card, he lost his cool and started yelling about how they need to have "cash or check". My wife and I asked why he was meeting them with such a rude attitude. That is when he shifted his focus to me and began trying to insult the way I looked. Commenting on my hat, my clothes. Taken back I asked "what are you even saying?" He continued to say how I should order certain items on the menu to "help with my brain function." We decided to leave and not give them our business. Had never been to this location before. Tried calling to place an order 30 minutes prior to arriving with no answer. Walked in to Jack asking how he could help and me saying 5 breakfast sandwiches to be meet with are u fxking kidding me. As I am texting coworkers to let them know i "tweaked" orders to make it convenient for Cool Beans employee i am met with curse words and statements about upcomihg avator movie. As i making order to said employee as easy as possible-4 same breakfast sandwiches and 1 Olympician said employee tells me if i an going to be on gameboy i need to get away from front counter to which i automatically apologize, silence my cell and continuing texting work because said employee ia goinf from front to bsck and swearing. Agter continuing apologizing, i get my total $36.50 and give him $40. He is just looking at money and i say i can give you .50 cents additionally to make it easier to which he replies i dont cre what you do. I give him the additonal .50 to get $5 change back and ask him if he minds if i used the pen to mark the only bag with a dofference sandwhich located at bottom of bag per employee. The place seems quiet and peaceful. The menu was displayed on a black board written with colored chalk. They had sufficient indoor and outdoor seating to accommodate enough people. The parking was right next to the moving traffic which felt unsafe for the little children. We first ordered our food at the counter and then picked up the food when it was ready. The lady over the counter could not follow and had to repeat the order, she still messed up the order. As we all were hungry, we did not bother much. The challenging part was the place accepts cash only and thankfully they had an ATM inside the restaurant. The menu had a wide variety of sandwiches, bagels, smoothies, coffee etc. I ordered Veggie Deluxe from the Breakfast section. The Veggie Deluxe comes with 2 egg whites, spinach, tomato, and cheese. It comes in either bread or a bagel, but I choose wheat bread. The bread was well toasted, and the sandwich was good. But it was not fulfilling. I didn't try bagels but they looked great. I got Berry Fusion from the Smoothies section. The Berry Fusion had strawberries, blueberries, apple juice, coconut, agave, and coconut milk. The smoothie was good and had a cream on the top. There was nothing fancy, but the food was good. The weather was good, so we sat on a patio. Overall, the experience was not great but still I enjoyed the place because of its simple ambience. The customer service was not welcoming. We ordered so much food but still the overall total was very reasonable. The prices are very decent for the quality of the food they provide. The preparation time was quick. I would recommend this restaurant if one is looking for a breakfast place. The iced coffee in this coffee shop is delicious. Had a large one with an egg sand which and it was incredible. Then got a second iced coffee and a crumb cake for a treat. Highly recommend this place if you're in the area and looking for a coffee that's better than the chain spots and delicious. My daughter had a smoothie and it was really good too. read more

Update. Back here again and now for the last time. I just can't go back again. I was always a little nervous about the sketchy people behind the counter.... But today finally confirmed my suspicions. This place is DIRTY. It's hard to find good people to work, so we all make concessions. I believe though that the cleanliness of the staff is one compromise that shouldn't be made. I've never seen the owner, and it's clear they just hire whoever will show up. The woman working behind the counter had dirty hands with long disgusting nails and kept touching her nose while she fumbled through making my simple bagel order. I didn't notice until after I ordered it. It was so very disgusting to watch, I just threw out the bagel while it was still in the bag. The coffee is good. The little sugar and spice prep station is good too. If you go here, DO NOT get the food. Stick with the coffee. And use the sugar packets from now on too (not the jar and spoon for sugar). Eating here will be like playing a game of germ roulette. The food has never been great anyway, so you're not missing anything if you go to any of the other nearby places. read more

We stopped in on a whim, assuming that it would be a pleasant, quaint, and warm experience. While the vibe is certainly quaint and a bit home style and upscale, the experience was not pleasant. My husband and I left, after getting our food and drinks to go, and just immediately started ticking off the things we were disappointed and displeased with. Among our top complaints were that the prices were *not displayed* on anything, the cook/counter person (Jack) was consistently on the brink of rude. Also, we weren't aware that it was cash or check only, no cards, until we went to check out. Food and drinks were mediocre, at best. And to top it all off we didn't even get a Thank You from Jack at the end of the transaction!!! Thanks, but we won't be back, nor will we recommend this establishment. Popped in quick because I was in the area on errands today and it was the closest place. Absolutely loved it. Bagels were phenomenal, coffee was very good. The woman at the counter was pleasant. I came here to leave a good review. I was shocked it was on 3.5 stars and thought it deserved an average of 4+. I don't get the problem on cost. I ordered 2x extra large coffees, a bottle of water, 2x bagel sandwiches, and 1x bagel with cream cheese. It was ~$24. Seems super reasonable to me. Highly recommend! read more

Saw this place off the side of the road while looking for a place for lunch. The atmosphere is comfortable and casual. I like that the menu is simple but offers a good array of choices for both breakfast and lunch. I had the veggie quesadilla, which was the perfect amount of food and very well made. I like the selection of tortillas that they offer too. I recommend this establishment, but I will reserve the fifth star for fresh salsa and guacamole if they are able to offer it in the future. I used to go here all the time because the coffee is great but I can't stand the disinterested attitudes of the service people at both locations. They always act like they are doing the customer a big favor by serving them. And THEY DON'T TAKE CREDIT CARDS..., seriously? I have since then, found Coffee Planet in Glens Falls and if I have a hankering for a bagel or a yummy sandwich and coffee, I go there. Way better atmosphere and food. And I don't have to have cash. Decaf seemed to stump the two workers. "should we make decaf?" I'd like to start that I am originally from this area (Queensbury), but have lived in North Carolina for the past 15 years. I grew up coming to Cool Beans. While in the area visiting family, I looked up the reviews on yelp and Facebook. I came in with low expectations, but hopes that the bad reviews were WRONG. I am so happy to report they are. The Cool Beans I knew and loved as a child is exactly how I would expect a "mom & pop" coffee shop to be. My girlfriend and I frequently go to the coffee shops local to us in Raleigh, NC and this place is exactly as I expected. I strongly recommend this place. They only accept cash and check, but they have a convenient ATM inside this location (I can't speak for the one on Quaker Rd). TLDR; I love Cool Beans. read more

This place was a nice place to get coffee - I had a great cappuccino that tasted very fresh and was delicious. The food, though, left a bit to be desired. I might be a bit spoiled with the bagels I normally have, but the bagels here were more like toast (very flat, no real taste). Made the mistake of stopping at Cool Beans for the "biggest and freshest BLT in town" and a "coffee" to the tune of 9$ and change. The BLT was 6.99 before tax and had 4 slices of bacon and 3 very thinly sliced tomato. I call BUSH LEAGUE! And the coffee is absolutely terrible. Run of the mill weak drip in a long line of thermos. The mocha (which was $5 with a tip) was pretty basic and they didn't have WiFi. What coffee shop in 2011 doesn't have WiFi (especially since this place had a lot of customers)? Excellent coffee, best bagel I've had anywhere (sorry NYC), friendly and fast staff. Normally I'd gripe about a place that is (mostly) cash only, but Cool Beans is so good it can get away with it. I don't know what they do to their bagels to make them so excellent in texture and taste but just please keep it up -- you'd be hard pressed to find a place that fries real bacon, cooks eggs on a skillet and toasts the bagel so perfectly; warm and crunchy but not dry! A special shout out to the woman who was running this location last Saturday; I stopped in with 4 hungry guys on our way up to Lake George for a hike, we ordered 5 breakfast sandwiches and coffees and a whole line of people shuffled in behind us. This would be the point where I'd think most "baristas" would get that panicked look in their eyes but she just cranked out all our sandwiches in no-time, was friendly and chatty the whole-time, and my visiting hikers were blown away with their food. Thoughtful. That's how I would describe this place. Attention to detail in everything from sandwich ingredients to coffee syrup flavors is taken to a whole new level at this joint. While it may take a few minutes for your food to be prepared, there are plenty of papers out for reading. We always stop here before hiking to fill up on breakfast burritos that are hearty enough to see us through 8 milers. My personal favorite here is a sugar-free white chocolate latte. I like the atmosphere and the coffee is generally good but some of the issues that keeping me from going there are that there are no bagels when I go there, ever, to eat. There are flies and the staff seems not to notice you exist. The other location is better in these ways but there is no wifi and no credit cards are taken.
