The person who told us about here said something to the extent of, ignore what the place looks like you will leave satisfied. Easy parking in their own parking lot. Entrance is around the side of the building. A sign at the front of the building, telling you to go around to the side door, would be helpful. Server Tifanny is excellent and helpful. Food is fresh; portion sizes large. Reason I gave 4* and not 5* is because I reserve the 5th star for restaurants with "gourmet" or creative recipes that provide a unique experience. Interesting use of herbs and spices in necessary to earn my 5th star. Pear salad with blue cheese is fresh and a great starter. I saw patrons at other tables order the same starter and I recommend it. I requested it with the dressing only on the side. Salad was enjoyable but didn't wow me like some of the salads I had in Saratoga Springs and Glens Falls in the past few days. Baked haddock entree was very filling. I wasn't expecting such a generous piece of fish. Fish was very fresh and well-prepared. The side dishes disappointed me; Mashed potatoes were saltier than I would like and not an exciting side dish. I like to eat healthy, so I prefer quinoa or other whole grain to white potatoes, and if I eat white potatoes, I much prefer roast potatoes to mashed. From the front of the building this place looks like a dive bar, but don't be turned off as the entrance is on the side of the building. The staff was super accommodating to us not having reservations and having two kids. We feasted on fresh bread, shrimp cocktail, eggplant parmigiana, scallops and risotto, and fettuccine Alfredo. We definitely recommend this place if in the area and would give it 4.7 stars if possible. read more

We're do I start, very non assuming place as you see it from the street. When you enter you're greeted with a smile and sat on time for your reservation. The menu is small just as I like it. Jack's has been at this location for 18 years. I never heard of it...and one of my neighbors refers to it as a "diner" (but he's never been there). It ain't no diner!! I mean, I have no issues with diners...I grew up in diner-land (NYC). But Jack's has white tablecloths and higher end options; making this a lovely destination for special occasions. What I really loved was the lack of pretentiousness while providing great service. The menu has options for all tastes and preferences- truly "American" themed. Two of us had the pear blue cheese salad-which we both devoured and really enjoyed. The other two had the shrimp Gorgonzola and did exactly the same...they loved it. Left nothing to the imagination. The bread that's brought to the table is light and fluffy with a crunchy crust.... accompanied by a plate of seasoned olive oil and a small dish of butter. They also bring out a plate of pâté with crackers (that are in the plastic packages...which made me giggle). I'm not a huge fan of liver, but the pâté was very good. Main dishes included the filet, pork schnitzel, scallops and salmon. All rave reviews. I had the salmon and I asked for it to be rare-it was almost rare but honestly cooked perfectly. The horseradish crust was delicious and the mashed potatoes underneath were smooth, buttery and decadent. The asparagus was the only rough spot; parts of it were tough to eat. That said, I would get the salmon again. Loved it. Dessert? Of course! We were celebrating a birthday!! Crème brûlée, cheesecake and chocolate mousse....all gone! I had the mousse and it delivered...chocolatey, smooth, light and heavy at the same time. So good. I was so full...all of us were. Went home and crashed in a blissful food coma. Don't let the small strip mall location fool you. The inside is large and the tables were very well spaced. I'll definitely be back. read more

This family-run restaurant is a true gem. Its location in a strip mall might escape your notice--and what a shame that would be! The host is warm and welcoming, the space open and friendly, and the service was delightful. Here's a special shout-out to our server, Morgan, who added a great deal of fun to our dining experience. The menu has something for everyone. I began with a lovely Caesar salad WITH anchovies (!!!), followed by delicious and perfectly-prepared sea scallops. The bread pudding dessert was decadently good. Service was wonderful and the full bar had all of our favorite liquors. I opted to start with the chicken wings and then ordered the chicken piccata with mashed Yukon potatoes. Others had the haddock, and crab cakes. Pate was complimentary to start things off. Dessert included the cheesecake with blueberry coulis and a chocolate mousse. It was a warm, humid evening so we all ordered our summer drink of choice: "Rose Kennedy's"--Ketel vodka, club soda, splash of cranberry and a lime wedge. Everything was very good. read more

Jack's Bistro is always an impressive and enjoyable dining experience in a friendly environment that somehow manages to feel both classy yet comfortable. One of the house specialties is calves' liver with bacon and carmelized onions--I realize not to everyone's taste, but one of my favorites, done to perfection here. But no worries if you object to liver, plenary of other fine choices here. Pretty much every seafood dish I've had here has been excellent as well--salmon or scallops entrees, not to mention an excellent mussels appetizer. I also love that they offer many entrées in half-portions--not a bad idea if you want to try a few of their excellent salads/appetizers or fill up on complementary bread (with Saratoga olive oil & balsamic you can pour over provided herbs) or chicken liver pate on crackers. Good desserts, nice coffee, full bar.... staff is incredibly wonderful and friendly... just a wonderful dining experience in a nice, unassuming location. read more

Staying up in Lake George for Amerericade bike rally and decided to venture down the road a bit as not to have to wait for a table with all the bikers in town and as luck would have it us old Marines landed well. I had the crusted salmon and my buddy had a chicken dish both of which were a solid 5 star experience, not just a meal . The hostess was extremely friendly and seated us , asked if we would like a drink before ordering and left us with what was undoubtedly some of the best pate I've ever had and after traveling 64 countries I consider myself a fair judge . It was accompanied by fresh homemade bread and crackers . One of the Owners (David) came and we had a little small talk and a bit of a laugh. His brother Christian was busy in the kitchen preparing our meals . What a pleasant surprise this place was! My wife and I wanted to celebrate our 1 year anniversary and go to nice place for dinner. We also wanted to stay near Queensbury as we were planning on seeing a movie afterwards. We stumbled upon a place called "Jacks." Neither of us had ever been there or heard of it. We should've made reservations (I suggest everyone does) but we did not as we did not know what to expect. We walked in, and although we didn't have reservations we came at a good time and were treated very nicely as we entered and we were promptly seated. We ordered an appetizer and our main course. We were treated extremely well by the waitstaff the whole time. We received our appetizers and actually were given time to eat them and relax. Once we finished we then received our food, all in a very reasonable amount of time. I ordered the Chicken Parmigiana. It ranks right up there with some of the best I've ever had. This place does not cheap out on ingredients. You can tell that they put care into their food, and you can tell that their waitstaff cares about their presentation as well. Overall, What a hidden gem this place was! I highly recommend it to anyone looking for something new, and high in quality. We will definitely be returning. read more

We arrived about 45 minutes before closing and had to wait for a table. The staff was so accommodating and friendly. The wait was well worth it as the food was amazing and as was the service from our waiter David who was funny and efficient. World Class... Food and service were both excellent. Lots of smiling faces starting with the Maitre D' and extending to our wonderful waitress Melissa. Food was also a treat. My wife had fresh oysters for an appetizer and scallops for her entree. I had chicken Florentine soup, and chicken Oscar. We finished with blueberry / white chocolate bread pudding - an unexpected treat. I cover all of the US and Canada for work and am on the road 3-4 nights a week.
