I finally got a chance to stop in and try this ice cream and cookie shop. They have some pre selected combinations or cookies and ice cream or you can create your own. I did a chocolate crinkle cookie with a white chocolate almond (?) ice cream. I can't remember the fruit flavor in the ice cream. The ice cream was somewhat flavorless. I didn't really taste much to it beyond vanilla. The cookies are a flat cookie with a crunchy edge and more gooey soft center. Not my favorite as I love a thick airy soft cookie. Service was quick and friendly. The inside is colorful and fun. I have another favorite ice cream shop in the area so I can't say I'll be back but it was fun to switch it up and try something different. read more

Cookie Cookie Ice Cream is THE best sweets stop in all of Pittsburgh!!! I've been coming here for some time now & I have never been disappointed. Tonight, I got to meet the owner, Addison, who does a wonderful job of educating customers, provides a great customer experience, & maintains excellent store cleanliness. A cool thing I just learned is that this business partners with schools to allow students to learn how to bake, and even practice their customer service skills! These folks love to spread the love beyond their sweet treats! On several occasions I have seen Cookie Cookie Ice Cream partnering with groups within the town and giving back to those in need. They go above and beyond here in every single category, which absolutely deserves more recognition!!! Personally, I have some food allergies and these folks ACTUALLY offer phenomenal allergen friendly options! So many businesses only have one or two options & it's always something boring like "vanilla or chocolate" but not here-- they have an incredible rotating variety of dairy free flavors! Tonight I am enjoying the dairy-free Pumpkin Spice ice cream and OH MYYYY!! It was an immediate "YES" after sampling it! Moral of the story, don't go to those silly franchise ice cream shops. Looked forward to trying this place and really wanted it to be great. Unfortunately, it was terrible. I got a 1/2 doz of mixed cookies and 2 pastries. The chocolate chip cookie was like a rock. There was something with small marshmallows that tasted like burnt brown sugar. The scone tasted like rotten carboard and was even harder to chew. The other pastry had a crunchy top but under that is was so soggy I couldn't even pick it up. None of the cookies had a good flavor or texture. The entire box went in the garbage. read more

I had heard about this place since it opened but never made it in and now moving away we had to make a stop when we drove by. I am so glad we did. The whole story behind the shop is amazing not to mention delicious. It is so bright colorful and cheery with such a sweet smell. We tried some of the homemade ice cream which was soft, smooth and creamy full of flavor. We also took home some of the cookies which were some of the best we have ever had. A bit of a hidden gem for both the township and the region, really. They make their own ice cream and bake their own cookies in store, to start. They always have a pretty wide variety of flavors of both, as well. And you get MASSIVE scoops and cookies bigger than your hand... all for a very, very affordable price. Get a 'sandwich' and see what I mean! It's got a nice vibe. There's usually a good song playing and the store is decorated with colorful, 'kitschy' seats and artwork. Beyond all that, the store is incredibly supportive of 'special needs' and differently abled people, both hiring and donating time and (I believe) even money to local events and charities. Who doesn't like the idea of a super fresh ice cream sandwich where you get to choose your cookies and ice cream for a totally unique dessert? The cookies and ice cream were wonderful. Service is friendly and they do a great job with the ice cream being soft enough to be squishable to eat easily and not too soft that it melts quickly. The cookies were soft enough to be duper delicious, but hard enough to use in an ice cream sandwich without falling apart too quickly. We will definitely be back and recommend trying it. Great family owned -homemade cookie/ice cream shop!!! Plenty of seating & friendly service. I had the chocolate & peanut butter ice cream together.. so delicious!!! My boyfriend got the vanilla & mint chocolate chip & it didn't last long. We also tried a peanut butter cookie. Oh my goodness.. very good. This is the sweetest small business! I was greeted immediately upon entering, everyone was friendly and smiling, and I couldn't have felt more welcome. The space is bright and inviting and there are several tables to sit at, if you want to stay to enjoy your treats. I asked for two scoops of ice cream (a small) and an Andies mint cookie to go. The ice cream flavors I had were peanut butter and mocha. The peanut butter ice cream was the best I've ever had. It tasted exactly like a nutterbutter. The mocha was rich and chocolate-y. They paired perfectly together. The ice cream consistency was so creamy. There was not even a tinge of iciness to it. So delicious. The cookie was thin and crisp on the edges, but soft in the middle. Cookie cookie ice cream is such a cute little place in Kennedy to go to for some ice cream and other sweet treats! It's a good place to go after a day at the park or a softball game! I have been here a few times with my softball team, and everyone loves it so much! It has such a wide variety of sweets, cookies, and ice cream. Cookie cookie ice cream pays if forward in that the vision of the family owned shop hires both physically and emotionally challenged individuals to help give them a sense of worth in the community. I stopped in here briefly and met with both the owner Connie and her son Addison to learn more about the business and to sample a little of their ice cream. Connie explained to me that they have "cake auctions" from time to time to teach their employees how to make outstanding decorated ice cream cakes for the public to enjoy as well as help other charitable causes. They just came off a birthday bash fundraiser with food donations accepted to Pittsburgh community food bank. The birthday bash featured a special flavor with a waffle "unicorn" horn placed in it. The proceeds from the ice cream cake sales of that event went to "camp parc" which is a special needs camp in the Laurel Highlands. Ice cream is made in house daily along with their cookies and other baked goods. Coffee and tea is served here as well. The shop has a cute ice cream parlor feel to it and makes you feel right at home. They have much in demand ice cream flavors and you can sample as much as you would like before purchasing. They also are coming up and welcoming unique suggestions for ice cream such as "avocado cheesecake." They even had a flavor named for Bob's diner next door since that business used to stand on the site they are now. Try a little bacon and waffle in your cone! Good and very different. For non dairy items they use coconut as their base. The most popular flavor in that line would be coconut mango. I sampled that too and loved it. The assortment of ice cream made it difficult to choose but I finally decided to go with a kiddie size of their dark chocolate ice cream. I made my purchase and sat down to eat my little dessert. It was so good!! They host parties here and all their bake goods are made fresh in house. It definitely is worth a visit not only to enjoy a great dessert but knowing you are "paying it forward" to help the underprivileged. Right when we walked in, the staff was attentive and quickly took our order and answered any questions we had. It was about 8:45pm and they weren't trying to shove us out despite how close it was to their closing time when we arrived! They had several dairy free options and they were all coconut. Their cookies were large and the portion was very generous. They even had some gluten free cookies left! While it doesn't appear they are baked in house like the gluten-filled cookies, the cookie was excellent. It was nice to see any ice cream place that still had some sweet treats that those of us who can't have gluten or dairy due to allergies can enjoy (be careful of cross contamination)! read more

I am admittedly biased in this review. The owners are Conne and Addison. I have known Connie for forty years or so, and her son, Addison, since he was an infant. Connie bakes cookies using many of her mother's recipes and Addison is in charge of the ice cream. Besides being some of my favorite people, they make some of my favorite treats. Okay, black coffee is pretty basic, but it pairs so well with everything else in their shop. The ice cream is of the highest quality (I have studied at the Carvel College of Ice Cream Knowledge; also known as "Sundae School") and their cookies, pastries and cakes are delightful. The product is top notch, but that's not all. The site is also dedicated to training people with special needs to enter into competitive employment. The ice cream itself is incredible and I greatly appreciate the simplicity of ingredients; this place has the best strawberry ice cream I've ever had, because it's JUST that. No dyes or gross "natural" flavors. Creamy with ideal texture, fresh, and a nice flavor. Cannot ask for more. The pistachio was also on another level! As for the cookies--better than most bakeries. Huge, flavorful, and SOFT...as soft as they can be to still hold up exceptionally well with two scoops of ice cream between them! I highly recommend the chocolate cookie. I could go there just for that! I love that you can do whatever combo you want. Traditional sugar was the other I chose, and that was yummy, too! Finally, and what is most important to me above all else, is the service. Idc how great the food or product is, I will not come back with disgruntled employees. Been meaning to visit for a while now, and what a treat this place is! I heard about Cookie Cookie because of their work with individuals with disabilities (I work as a disability counselor), and I knew that I'd want to stop in and support them. Plus, I LOVE ice cream! I did not realize the size of their incredible cookies or that their ice cream is homemade with some SUPER interesting flavors. I want to visit weekly just to try everything! My husband and I each ordered cookie sandwiches with two different cookies each (I chose snickerdoodle and chocolate chip, he chose chocolate crinkle and chocolate chip) with two scoops of ice cream in between (I chose strawberry and peanut butter, he chose vanilla and banana). The cookies are so soft and delicious, and the ice cream was flavorful and perfectly textured - not icy or bland at all! We also sampled the black sesame and fig ice creams and I want to go back ASAP to make a sandwich out of their more unique flavor offerings. Today was my second visit here, after having finally stopped in a couple weeks ago. This place is nothing short of AWESOME! It's bright and happy, with wonderful colors and totally unique tabletops--created by the owners! They have done most everything themselves, a true accomplishment and a reason to be proud! The employees are unfailingly friendly and helpful! The owners have hired handicapped individuals, and today I was fortunate to see the owner teaching one such an employee a new skill, and she was so patient and very encouraging, helping this young woman to catch on quickly and feel good about herself. You don't see an employer working to build up employees that way very often. They have an amazing assortment of handmade ice cream, some flavors you'd expect and some you wouldn't. Truth be told, I've yet to try the ice cream, as both times I've been here, it's been morning and I was on a quest for coffee, but I sure do plan to get around to it! Now, the pastries. Ah, the PASTRIES! Beautiful huge cookies with a great variety, to start. And muffins and danish, and turnovers, oh my! On my first visit, I had a wonderful cherry danish, and this time I opted for a cranberry chocolate chip muffin that turned out to be nothing short of fabulous!! SO fabulous, in fact, that I got half a dozen to go, to share with friends this afternoon. (Although, truth be told, I'm making a good argument to myself to keep them all...!) I got a plain old coffee, although they also do a bunch of other coffee house-type specialty beverages for those who prefer those. The coffee was great, not horribly strong but with plenty of body and flavor. The coffee and muffin made my day. And today, I learned from talking to the owner that they have live bluegrass music on Fridays around 6pm. AND I found out that they also do pies, so, YAY! They're also incredibly accommodating, as she told me that with a few hours notice, they'll create pretty much any custom item you want! Doesn't get any better than that, right? Okay, those of you out there who have read my reviews before know that I can write good reviews for good places. This time, though, I'm going to add this: Cookie Cookie absolutely DESERVES your business! This is a business that gives back in a number of ways, and they deserve your support.
