This is our go-to for figure skates and sharpening for the past 10 years. You just need to tell them what level your skater is, and they'll take good care of you. If the skate in pinching in an area, they can bump the boot out or add padding. My daughter started with Jacksons doing single jumps and is now in Edeas doing double combos as a collegiate skater. We have always been happy with the skates & service and highly recommend Cooke's. read more

Took my kid in this weekend to get fitted for some hockey skates and the employees could not have been nicer. Amazing staff with a phenomenal selection of hockey skates. The fitting process was way more in detail then I had expected and they really took the time to help us. Definitely recommend Cookes if you are in need of skates. read more

Excellent service, fitted both my sons with new skates. Very knowledgeable and made thoughtful recommendations. Dom was excellent.

Cookes has taken care of all my wife's and my figure skating needs for the last seven years now, including custom skates and sharpening and adjusting blade angle and shims. They are the last of the craftsmen. They will work with you till you are absolutely satisfied with your fit, the skating is up to you. I highly recommend them to anyone in the New England area - it's worth the drive. They have a full line of blades and boots for you to choose from and new technology to map your foot shape for hard to fit feet. They also have extensive hockey skate inventory and can custom fit them as well. read more

Just want to say that I feel so lucky that I came in here to get myself fitted properly for figure skates. I had gotten cheap Jacksons for myself thinking they would be totally fine. I was SO wrong. By the end of a session of adult learn to skate classes my right ankle/foot in general was in so much pain I knew I needed to see someone. I came in and Scott got me into the most comfortable skates my feet have ever been in. I can't emphasize enough how shocked I was about the difference between the ones he adjusted and fitted me with and the old ones. Scott was so knowledgeable, kind, and patient. I'm so grateful! I just brought my kiddos in since my daughter needed adjustments and was complaining about her skates. Will be coming here for as long as we skate! read more

They hit me with a freakin 4% "Non Cash Adjustment "- didn't know until I got home and looked at the receipt / never told me beforehand - RATTY way to do business , I'll never be back! read more

Came in here to get a new pair of skates, get out of rentals finally. They took measurements, realized i over-pronated, asked what i was looking to do, and made a great recommendation. While they didn't have the right pair in stock, they ordered it. Just picked up the new skates yesterday, baked and molded to foot, then had me walk in them, realized my ankle on the left rolled out a bit, so put in a shim, then re-checked. When looking for a good pair of figure skates, would definitely recommend them! I called ahead for an appointment, would recommend that. read more

These guys are amazing - helped me and my wife get fit for new skates, molded them to our feet and spent probably over an hour making sure they were perfect. Truly expert in what they do, delightful to do business with, and everything a local business should be. read more

Cooke's is the only place I would ever go to get my skates sharpened. Scott is the best! I send all my students to him to get their skates. They are top notch, and take the time to get you fitted properly. read more

Cookes is a great skate shop. They are well stocked with hockey and figure skates. They take the time to fit you correctly according to your size and the type of skating you will be doing. The staff there are very friendly, courteous and put the customer first. read more

My daughter has been going to Cookes and working with Scott for more years than I can remember. This shop is as good as it gets! Master craftsman, superior work, and great customer service. This is where the best of the best go and everyone is treated like a rock star! My daughter has very odd and hard to fit feet and often requires some adjustsment during the year and Scott works with her until she's comfortable and happy. We are off to Nationals next year and can easily recommend Scott and Cookes to any one of any skill level! I play hockey and I have also experienced superior attention to detail and great customer service. Kudos to Scott and his crew! read more

I have bought a few pairs of skates from Cooke's. They are a little pricey and don't have a huge selection. I also don't like getting my skates sharpened there because you leave them and have to come get them later if its busy. Overall go to Cooke's if your in need of a stick but for skates and protective gear go to Pure Hockey. read more

Cooke's is by far the best place for hockey equipment, particularly for skates. Paul and Mike are the most patient people I've ever encountered. They will work with you to make sure you are 100% happy with your skate purchase. They adjusted one pair I was considering three times until it fit like a glove. Do not waste your time buying online or at any other store. If you're going to be wearing those skates for years, come to Cooke's to make sure you get the right pair for your feet and they will be molded perfectly to fit your comfort. read more

[EDIT: The owner of this shop took my negative review as a reason to stalk me at my place of employment. He didn't stop until I got the police involved. He is dangerous, and you should be careful.] If they don't happen to have your size in stock, you'll need to buy them, sight unseen, before you'll have an opportunity to try them on. Then, if they don't fit -- too bad, because you own them now! They also won't even tell you what brand of skates they intend to order for you unless you pay an additional fee. Don't expect them to tell you this up front, however -- you'll need to make an "appointment" and then sit around for an hour and a half before they reveal this to you. The staff is rude and their practices are deceptive. They seem to believe that their reputation will convince people to fork over hundreds of dollars with no promise of actually getting anything (like, I dunno, ice skates that might actually fit) in return. They have much more interest in cheating people out of money than in serving customers. read more

Great experience getting skates today. They really know their skates. Mike, the owner, was very helpful and tried to help us save money. Friendly and careful to get you the right fit. Make sure you schedule enough time because it gets busy or better yet, make an appointment. read more

Spent 10 minutes looking for some one to help me figure out the prices of roller blades because they weren't listed on the skates or on the shelving. After directly asking for help from some one down stairs they said that they would call some one. After another 10 minutes of no show I simply walked out. If they would rather play on their phones then make a sale I will just go somewhere else. read more

I only went to Cooke's to get mine and my fiance's skates sharpened but while I was sitting waiting I couldn't help but notice how much Scott cares about each and every one of his customers and makes them all feel like a superstar. When I decide to step up and get a professional grade pair of skates I will definitely head to Cooke's and get a custom fitted pair. read more

Excellent, attentive service from Scott for my recent skating boot fitting! He was knowledgeable and there was a great selection of boots.

My daughter is a goalie and couldn't get skates that were comfortable. Bauer's heel cup chafed, Reebok's insole was too flat, and there were only those two options. After hours and hours of patient fittings at Sports Etc. the staff there reached the limits of what they could adjust and sent us on to Cooke's, where Scott built a hybrid skate for my daughter--Reebok on top, Bauer below. It solved the problem--she's been skating in them for almost a year and no more sore feet. We were at Cooke's near closing on weeknights, so there wasn't much of a crowd, but everyone was really patient with us being there so late. The other customers who were there were figure skaters who were getting custom skates built. It's not a fancy shop but the work and service are absolutely first rate. read more

My family and I bought and serviced our skates at Cooke's for over 10 years, throughout our skating careers. Scott is incredibly patient, through numerous fittings, stretching, fixings, on and on, making sure things are good. I can't possibly recommend them enough. read more

Thanks to the Scott and the Cookes team for spending all the time required to help our son find skates that fit him appropriately! It was a fabulous experience and we wont go anywhere else in the future. As we watched the flow of customers in and out, all were receiving this personalized care. Thanks for your dedication to the younger generation of these great sports! read more

Great experience. We flew in from out of town for a hockey camp and my husband said "we have to go check these guys out!" We made an appointment for a skate fitting and they took a generous amount of time with my husband trying different skates and working through which ones would be the ones we took back home. Would definitely recommend. Very knowledgeable, patient and inquisitive in diagnosing what type of skater and skate needs my husband had. read more

I have two beginner skaters in the family. I went to Cookes to have a pro check my 6yr old sons skates. To make sure they were the right size. I felt as though all they were concerned with was if I was going to make a purchase. I got upstairs to the Manager Mike, and he seemed pissed off like we were bothering him (place was empty). First thing he asked was "did you buy these skates here" when I said no he seemed offended. He measured my sons foot, and said these are the right size. I told him I sharpen them regularly. He then asked where do you sharpen them. When I didn't say here. He tossed my sons skate on the chair and walked away into the back room. He left us there. I was stunned. I work in the service industry 23yrs now. I know for sure that's now how you retain repeat customers. If you run a small business first impressions are everything. It doesn't matter if you making a purchase or not. My kids are young, and will be skating for many years. They lost my business forever. Won't be going back. read more

I went here for new hockey skates last year because they're supposed to be the best at fitting people. My vapor xxx's were a size 5 and fit perfectly but needed replacement after 12 years. We had trouble finding skates for my wide foot and I ended up with Bauer S1 5.5D which was a little big in the front. I was told a little big is no big deal and that the skate blade is the same length as the size 5. Now a year later, the broken in skates feel even bigger with my foot sliding around the inside of the skate (yes I wear socks) and I have trouble almost tripping up on the front of the skate when sprinting. So I randomly stepped on one of those Bauer 3D skate fitting systems at Hockey Monkey - It says I'm supposed to be a 4.5EE (which has a shorter skate blade than 5.5). Tried on the same Bauer S1 and they're the best fitting skates I've ever put on my feet. I'm so angry that Cooks compensated for not having wider skates in stock by putting me in longer skates which have negatively effected my game and made me waste $650. Next time just say you don't have the skates that would best fit me in stock and save your integrity. read more

Brought 7 year old son in for pair of hockey skates and could not have asked for better service than we got from brian. To initial sizing, heat fitting, punching out few areas then a shim to perfect the blade alignment to the final sharpening. Took about an hour and price was basically same as run of mill outlets but with all the extra service a much better value. Simple recommendation,if you need skates go there even if it is hour away like it is for us. read more

These guys are pros. I have sent dozens of people to get skates fitted and everyone is satisfied. They custom fit skates for skaters with all different types of foot and ankle issues. Mike made custom adjustments to my son's blades and it resulted in an immediate improvement in his skating. Can't say enough about these guys. read more

I got fitted for some new roller skates and Cooke's is the absolute BEST! Scott is a true professional. He measured my feet and got the EXACT correct fit. If I could give Cook'es 6 stars, I would! I needed an anjustment on my figure skates and made an appt. with Scott Cooke. He was friendly, very knowledgeable, and spent alot of time with me to be sure that I was problem free with my skates. He heated up my skates and molded them to my feet for superior comfort and sharpened them. I was shocked at how low the price was to do so much. I returned after the adjustment because part of the skate was digging into my leg, and Scott fixed the problem at no charge. I highly recommend Cooke's Skate shop for all your skating needs. read more

They are too busy. Everyone in NE goes there and it is the luck of the draw to get good service or not. I stopped going there 2 years ago because they were not paying attention or asking questions, just taking in the cash. My recent experience backs this up 100%. Left a pair of figure skates for 2 weeks for a rebuild, they were not ready. While I waited in the lobby, they hastily did it, leaving adhesive on the skates and had to cut my old laces off to do the job. When I asked why they didn't replace the tongue they said it does not come with rebuild. 5 extra minutes of customer care would have solved this problem. So, I had them replace the tongue, which seems to be all I really needed. On top of all of this, they charged me for sharpening and the maximum charge for the rebuild, no discounts and delivered with a poor attitude. It would have cost them nothing to throw in the sharpening but they didn't. I wonder if they realize that i actually skate on those?? I will never shop there again, and I will be in the market for new skates a year from now, as well as new blades. Scott never spoke to or looked at me, leaving this schlock job to another employee. read more

If you want to get into the perfect skates for your feet and get excellent thorough service, then go to Cooke's. The other places like Hockey Monkey will have teenagers who pretend that they know what they're talking about and tell you what you want to hear but you may end up regretting your decision once you get on the ice. The guys at Cooke's will take their time to make sure you get the perfect skates. They understand the anatomy of the foot which was great for me with my problem feet. I wish I had heard of Cooke's earlier because I was skating with pain for 2 years and tried 3 different pairs of skates and nobody at any of the other stores could help me. I was mostly going off advice that I could find on the internet. When I went to Cooke's, they could've just tried to sell me another pair but instead they told me the pair I was currently using were close and they made multiple adjustments to them. Over 2 visits, they spent a couple hours with me and helped me get my skates perfect. Now I can skate pain free and I love it. They only charged me for the first visit and hardly charged me for the labor in the first place, mostly just charged me for the orthotic parts... Thanks guys! I love Cooke's!!! read more
