I made it to my first meeting on the 5th and am hoping to get to another meeting this Wednesday. I can honestly say I was surprised to see 15 or more (I lost count!), knitters when I arrived. They had pulled the little tables together to form one very long table to the right of the room and everyone was knitting away. Socks, scarves, baby blankets, afghans, and shawls were projects I saw in the works. This group is probably the nicest group of strangers, second to Yelpers of course!, that I've met. Everyone wanted to know about each other's projects and we went around the table with introductions and a little blurb about the project she was knitting. If you're in the area and could use a little inspiration for a project, or just want the company of some really nice ladies and a hot beverage you'll love this group too! Oh, and the best part: it's free!

I did a multi hour private class for which I paid a premium, I felt OK about it and good about my decision afterwards. I planned on returning to continue with the same teacher, however when I called to arrange, I was told that the teacher had been dismissed. The lady I spoke with explained that the dismissal was not for ability or quality of teaching, that the studio ensured the quality of teaching always met the studios high standards. When pushed however I was told that the dismissal came as a surprise to other staff members, but was also not a surprise as the studio owner requires 'yes' teachers to all requests, and that he is VERY commercially minded. This teacher was clearly NOT a yes person, just very competent and a thoroughly nice person! What also surprised me was the extent to which she supported the studio, despite what seems to have been one way from the owner! So a very disappointing conclusion, maybe I will be able to arrange private classes with her, but for anyone considering the studio for classes - buyer beware and don't believe the very believable owner who will say anything to get the business and revenue. It's a shame he behaves in this way, but I strongly believe it can only be the start of the end for the studio

You cannot even stay on and hope someone answers, as recording says that specific Michaels is not available. All the employees seem to have only been there a week or two. I could not find anyone to answer a simple question about return policy. Steer clear.

On that day, I decided to go to the shop to see what yarns were on sale. Very quickly, I found two kinds of yarn I wanted to buy.While the owner was trying to sell on line, I said that I wanted to pay for the yarn. She became angry that I was bothering her during the on-line sale. She did take the payment for the yarn, but what she didn't know was that she'd just lost one of the regular customers. I never went back and do not intend to. With that business sense, I don't even know if she's still there. I wouldn't be surprised if she hadn't survived.
