He charged me an exorbitant amount - $57 which I had to prepay!! I needed them for a wedding in a couple of days so I told him I would pay it but that I wasn't pleased with the cost for approximately 15 minutes of simple work. When I went to pick them up at 4:15, the door was locked and there was a handwritten note on the door indicating he'd be back by 4:30 so I waited. By 4:45 (with my groceries melting in the 85degree heat), he hadn't returned so I called. He picked up and said he'd be back in 5 minutes. When I got home and tried them on I discovered that the work was shoddy, the straps were 2 different lengths and both shoes had dirty black crumbly bits of who-knows-what inside them. I went back the next day and expressed my displeasure and asked him for a refund (or even a partial one) which he refused to give me so I told him I would put a stop payment on the charge, which I have and which would result in a chargeback fee from his bank, and that I was going to write a negative review and he still refused to make good on his sloppy work. He is a careless, irresponsible, unpleasant man and I advise strongly not to do business with him!

In five years, I've had several shoe repairs, a leather pocketbook repair, and some miscellaneous…read morerepairs that required heavy-duty sewing. All were done excellently, and at a very reasonable price. (Sam charges before the repair, so there's no surprise high cost). Once I went in to have a shoe stretched to have room for a bandaged toe, and he said that the shoe material would spring back within a couple days. So he recommended instead, that I remove the thick inner pad until the bandage came off; he cut a thin leather to replace it, at very low charge. Another visit, I was second in line when a lady came in to pick up a glossy red shoe that had been severely scuffed. Sam had matched the color perfectly, but no one could have restored the full gloss where it flexed. But the lady was not satisfied. So Sam refunded her money completely, despite having done a couple hours' work. He is competent, helpful, and ethical. That's the way he does business.

Who knew that furniture disassembly and reassembly was a thing? I certainly didn't until I treated…read moremyself to an extra cozy Boston Interiors sectional and the sofa portion wouldn't fit up my front or back staircase. Whoops! I had already been waiting two months for delivery, so to say I was disappointed is an understatement. Then the panic kicked in. Since it was a custom sectional, I would get majorly dinged if I returned it. But what other options were there? That's where Melo and Sons came in. The delivery guy put me on the phone with his manager to talk it over. Yes, returning the sectional was an option, as was taking out my dining room window to bring the sofa portion in that way (hell no!) Or... I could have some pros disassemble it at their warehouse then reassemble it in my living room. Of my three options, the third was the winner by a longshot. As I was the first delivery of the day, I patiently waited until Melo and Sons opened then gave them a ring. Joanne immediately answered and put my nerves at ease. It was obvious I wasn't the first numpty to purchase a too big piece of furniture that needed saving by them. After providing her all the requested information, I had a delivery date for about three weeks out. By the time my Boston Interiors salesperson called to discuss the failed delivery, everything was already tucked and tied with Melo and Sons. When the big day finally arrived, Mike and George showed up right on time and quickly got to work. They laid down moving blankets to protect the floor then brought up the disassembled sofa in several carefully wrapped pieces. Aside from being the consummate professionals, they were funny to boot. It took them less than two hours to reassemble the sofa and at long last reunite it with its other half. That evening, after three long months, I finally got to relax on and enjoy my sectional in its full glory. All thanks to Melo and Sons and their niche specialty.

I bought a leather tote bag in October for a Christmas gift and was told that I could return it for a store credit if the person receiving the gift didn't like it or couldn't use it. When I went back after the holidays to return it, I was told that it was an accessory and not returnable. The clerk who sold me the bag was no longer employed there and there was nothing they could do about it. I then emailed the owners and never received the courtesy of a response, so I kept the tote bag. I have used the bag about 3 or 4 times. It is now February and the inside lining is separating from the leather. I'm sure if I return to Madox for a refund or repair I will be told they can't do that. The bag is basically a low-quality piece of junk and the customer service is the same. I would not buy anything from Madox Jewelry again and would not recommend the store to anyone.
