Cook Out is a vibe. It is not the best food you'll find, but they are fast, they are cheap, they are open late, and they are one of my favorite places to eat in North Carolina. For $10.98, i got a double burger tray, with Cajun fries, a spicy chicken wrap, and a peanut butter fudge milkshake. The fries were a bit soggy, but the Cajun seasoning is nice. The burger had a double patty, and you could taste that it was grilled over flame. And the spicy chicken wrap tasted way better than I expected for the price. The peanut butter fudge milkshake was thick af. I could barely suck it through the straw til it melted a little. I'm definitely coming back next time I'm in North Carolina. read more

Never been here, visiting from out of state. The employee taking the order was the most patient, friendliest, polite person. I should have gotten his name. The inside crew, complete opposite. Dude are you mumbling, grunting, or actually speaking??? Food is decent enough. read more

The food is good, hot and fast. My go to Oder is the chargrilled cheddar style chicken sandwich tray with Cajun fries and nuggets. I love a good Cheer-wine with no ice. The service here is impressive for fast food meals under $10. You really can't beat this! The staff seem truly happy to serve customers and are extremely polite. The parking lot and drive thru are always clean and not overly congested. read more

Normally I would have given Five Stars. Food was exceptional for a drive through fast food restaurant. I had a tray with double hamburger, cole slaw, and onion rings--all was quite good. The portions are great. Letting you try new things. And let's face it Cook Out buildings are cute, always with lots of activity. The service while good, would not allow to double up my entree on my tray. The menu even says you can double up or get two sides. I've done it before. But this order taker/window valet wouldn't budge or even check with his manager. Doesn't matter, I'll be back. And 4 out of 5 ain't bad! read more

What's up NC state. So funny story, all the other managers at NC state were telling me since I'm not from here, I had to get one of two things (1/2). So consider this the first one. COOKOUT! Cookout is a fast food restaurant known for their expansive menu, low prices and large portions... really all I could ask for. I came after the last day of the Kevin Keats camp with two of my buds and one guy (from NC) said had to get a tray and sub for a milkshake. I ordered a burger, chicken quesadilla, fries and subbed my drink for a PB shake ($1.50 extra) Overall the food was fine, nothing crazy nothing insane. The burger was solid but mediocre. Chicken quesadilla tasted like Taco Bell (absolutely not an insult) and the fries were standard. The shake was meh. But holy F get the cookout sauce. Bruh it's amazing. Tasted good with everything I ate. I also ordered a shirt for $3 but they forgot to give it to me.... So subtract 3 bucks from my order It's fine food, great for college students, I'd love to try it again but get some diff food. Maybe try some other sandwiches/sides. Pretty pleased with this much food for basically less than $10 3.75/5 read more

The professionalism needs improvement. The receptionist doubles as assistant. Seems like they could afford to hire office staff. Very long wait times. They don't follow up on referrals. good service and the burgers were good enough , I ordered two double cheese , both plain , no bun - they came wrapped in foil and most of the cheese was stuck to the foil ( there has to be a better way ) on other occasions the same order has been unwrapped in a styrofoam tray which was better for preservation of the product read more

So for anyone outside of North Carolina, Cook Out is a drive through staple with many choices. My tip would be look at the menu before you get in the line because once you are in front of the speaker with a dozen cars behind you there is NO TIME to decide. Also if you didn't know Cook Out has 30 different flavors of shakes...yes...30...! For our order we got a couple of Slaw Dogs a hamburger, some fries (which were great) and two pumpkin pie shakes. The shakes had pieces of pie crust in them and no lie tasted like a creamy pumpkin pie. The people who work there are on fire because cars just keep coming and the wait time is minimal. read more

Cook out is a classic fast food place in the south, and I'm so glad I got to try it! If you like cheap, heavy, but yummy fast food then this is the spot for you. Their service is fast, and you eat outside on the tables after getting your food. Their milkshakes are so thick, you have to eat it with a spoon, but it's so delicious. I got a cookout tray with a burger, fries, and chicken nuggets. Would recommend stopping by if you enjoy American fast food! read more

Fast and kind service. Line and efficiency was amazing. Got a 2 dollar T shirt with my tray meal of course. Classic cook out vibe. My friends got the peach milkshake and it was her first time going to any cookout and she loved it. My Reese's milk shake, corn dog and cheese bites couldn't have been better. The burger was maybe a tad dryer than others I've had from cookout but overall a great experience. read more

I'm going to pen out this review before I fall knee deep into a hush puppy induced food coma. Cook Out is something everyone should add to their Bucket List when traveling anywhere south of Maryland. Cook Out is my new fast food addiction and I'm so glad they're conveniently located everywhere in North Carolina. Cook Out is like having a family barbecue on speed dial. They're dishing out all the best sides and grill favorites! Burgers, hot dogs, Pulled Pork, fried favorites: Cheese bites, hush puppies, and the best Slaw ! The slaw and burgers are my favorite. Chili and what everyone craves, the shakes. I've tried a shake once and it was more like ice cream. Too thick. Cook Out comes in handy when you have a hangover, are a expecting mother with midnight cravings or when you haven't eaten all day and your blood sugar is dropping like it's hot. I recommend the western style burger tray, Hush puppies or my favorite Cheese bites with Slaw. Make this your one stop shop destination for Cheat Day! Thank me later folks. read more

I was in love with the idea of a cookout down the street. Now I'm disgusted with the fact that your running a business with all teenagers. Everytime I go to this place something is wrong with my order. This last time I went they put mayonnaise on my burger that was oozing out of the burger. I would post the picture but ill save you guys from throwing up like I did trying to down this trash. I thought kids can't work past 11 anyway where is OSHA???? read more

It was not that great. The milkshake was thick, which is good, but still lacking in flavor. I don't understand the hype around this place. My fries tasted old, like they'd either been cooked in old grease or had me sitting out entirely too long. I did not have a burger, I tried the chicken sandwich and again, it was just okay - lacking flavor/seasoning. If I had to leave it or take it - I'd definitely leave it. read more

Food: 9/10. Delicious quesadilla and milkshakes! Burgers remind me of Burger King. Service: 8/10 (forgot the cheese on the burger and didn't give us any napkins, but they were super fast and friendly. Price: 10/10. Lots of food for two people (less than $20) Environment: 8/10. Love the look and everything was clean except the bathrooms were kinda gross. Overall: 8.5/10. 100% will be returning and making this a new favorite spot! read more

I would like to start off with, I'm not a person who writes reviews. The cookout on Allentown Dr. In Durham. I ordered cookies and cream milkshakes, and when I received it . I saw no cookies, so I asked where are the cookies, he ask me do I want mitre on top, I did not respond. He brings the two cups back with cookies on top , instead of remaking them. I want my money back by this time,. Management come no hello , is this your milks , shattering with it, know I will remake them or nothing, just returned the money know hello or thank you. I think I was more mad at the manager than the milkshakes. So sad read more

Forgot my chicken tenders even after I asked if both orders were in the bag. He did not put the chicken tenders in the bag.

Cook Out is amazing for what it is, which is basically fast food. Their trays are a great deal and I think it is one of the must-dos for people visiting the Triangle (any location is fine). A tray with a burger, quesadilla and fries is the standard recommendation--where else can you get a quesadilla as a SIDE?-but the hot dogs and chicken nuggets are good too. The milkshakes are sort of a necessity if you go here. read more

I am not a fast food do-er. But, Cookout has made me a cheater. Sorry dine ins, sometimes we need a little break. And it's open uber late! Their burgers are juicy, perfectly fast foodsy in a delicious way. And it's not a patty thinner than a pancake! I tried the cheeseburger with bacon and onions, Cajun fries which were not so Cajun and the come back, banana pudding milkshake! OH EM GEE! Their milkshakes definitely bring me to their yard. My eyes lit up brighter than the sign I was looking at. Line was long but I only waited 6 minutes. Way to go! Total success. Buddy who told me about this deserves a high five! read more

Be ready to get what you pay for. This is good food and super cheap. For my first time trying Cook Out while on vacation with my hubby I was impressed. Pros: cheap and affordable. The price was great. You can get a large tea a burger (depending on what size your order and with what toppings) and chili cheese fries (you can not skip these) for under about $7.00 (weird I know and I ordered everything on its own I didn't do a tray or whatever the combos are) but anyway super great price point. What a steal! The burger I did the regular size cheddar style no onions and it was delicious. The chili cheese fries were great. Not spicy and not super soggy either they also gave you a fork which was handy. (The fries with our toppings are not my style) The tea was great and tasted fresh. Also my husband ordered the same burger only the bigger size and hush puppies. The bush puppies were amazing!! Cons: Really the only two issues I had was while Placing our order they didn't ring up the chili cheese fries so I had to go reorder them. (They got them out super quick though) Also I went to get a refill only tea and about 5 people walked by the window and made eye contact with me before someone helped me five minute later. All in and all I can totally see myself going here and ordering the same thing with a shake though because treat yourself. Totally worth checking out. Expect it to be busy though if you go late at night. read more

The most unfriendly staff I've ever encountered at a fast food restaurant in my life. I have been multiple times and it's not like it was a one time thing. They act like they could care less about getting your order right and the fact that they literally tried to get me to pay $.48 for a sauce packet after I had already paid 8$ for my meal was laughable. The guy in the window couldn't even read my ticket when I repeatedly showed him that it said "honey mustard" on it. He just continued to argue with me the whole time over a freaking honey mustard. I will never go back to this joke of an establishment and I will make a point to tell everyone I come in contact with how they should not waste their time or money here. Side Note: the fact that you have to pay for a sauce packet is complete and utter bull. Look around, nobody else does that or if they do they make you pay for extras... not a single packet. He wouldn't even give me a ketchup. At that point I just turned around got in my car and vowed to never come back. Peace out Cookout. read more

Walked in and felt like an episode of the twilight zone. Had never been to the food chain so asked the cashier what she recommended. Ordered the grilled chicken sandwich, tenders, chicken, wrap, milk shake and hush puppies. Hush puppies, wrap and milk shake may have been the only edible items. All other "chicken" items may have actually been fried bat. Consistency of the meat felt as though I had bit into a ball of clay. Only went because they had the shortest line of any other eatery in the area. I now understand why. read more

How could you not love cook out?? It's so good and so cheap. I always get a cheeseburger tray with ketchup, mayo, lettuce, pickles. Then Cajun fries, and either a chicken quesadilla or chicken ranch wrap. Both are great options. I then will get a cheerwine or upgrade to a shake (peanut butter fudge with Oreo). Service is fast and food is good. I've been here so many times on a Friday or Saturday night after partying and it always hits the spot. read more

Today, I'm picking on Cook Out at the Western Blvd location. What puzzles me is how can an burger joint consistently get it wrong! 8 out of 10 times when I have gone to Cook Out on Capital or Western, they've managed to get the order wrong. Sadly, it isn't until you get home or back to work that you discover the extra tomato that you purchased is missing, or they added cheese after you specified "no cheese", or you request no onions and the thing is just slathered with them... sigh I have gone on year-long boycotts by refraining to never go back. I have called their corporate office to complain, and they sent me a coupon so I could go back for more punishment. Yes, I share some of the blame, because I keep thinking that the previous experience was just a fluke... It must be a madness that takes me back... maybe it's those crispy onion rings, Oreo cookie shakes, and fizzy Coke floats? Anyway, I've decided to swear Cook Out off again. They're not going to trick me anymore... Five Guys, here I come! read more

Great food!! We were visiting, and I couldn't believe how much food we got, def a favorite! can't wait to go back!

Never seen so much food for the low in my life. Literally I came here and I thought I cleared them out and they said ok sir your total is $7.43 my jaw hit the floor l. I got a bacon cheese burger, cheese fries, onion rings, chicken wrap and a milk shake. There was a little bit of wait for the food and that was to be expected. All my friends from the south raved endlessly about how good their food was. I was impressed with the varieties of milkshakes also I might try the peach one next time I'm down here lol. The genius of cookout is the simplicity of the menu and the price pointing that keeps the clientele coming back for more. When I come to different parts of the country I like to experience their vilified and cuisine. Even though this wasn't exactly on the high end side I loved the meal. Can't wait to be back in Raleigh again for more! read more

They get my order wrong every time there idiots I'm tired of the disappointment every time I open my bag it's the wrong order they don't fill up my drink all the way so that's vary unfortunate Im allergic to the order I got! so I wasted my money thank you for that i ask for 2 ranches I usually get 1 i should get a refund Or my order made again but I have to pay for my order again if this happens again I'm not going to that location again read more

I am never returning to this location again. I was treated with so much disrespect today when the cashier, Andrew, blatantly ignored me telling him I wanted certain toppings on my burger. He was so rude taking my order and anytime he didn't understand me, he said gruffly, "what?!" I got to the window and asked them to read back my order because I didn't believe I was heard when I gave the toppings, and sure enough they had added zero toppings to my burger. Andrew immediately got defensive and spoke very rudely towards me and acted like it was MY problem he didn't listen to me when I was ordering my food, and no apology or anything was given. There was another guy at the window who was respectful toward me when he spoke to me but Andrew needs to be fired and not work with the public if that's how he's going to treat customers. Absolutely appalling. read more

Honestly , it was my first Time eating at this fast food place. It was late I didn't eat all day and happened to be the closest spot open. You can't get a better deal than a Cook Out Tray - a burger, 2 sides, and a drink for $4. Add about $1 and get a milkshake instead. And the milkshakes are customizable - so choose any flavors you want and combine them to your stomach's content (see below). My go-to is the burger with lettuce, grilled onions, ketchup, and Cajun seasoning. All of their sides are good - french fries, onion rings, hush puppies, chicken nuggets - all delicious. In the summer time - do yourself a favor and get the watermelon milk shake. It might sound gross, but it's my favorite milkshake flavor at Cook Out. When they don't have watermelon, I go with either: 1) Peach Cobbler + Blueberry - those Nilla wafers... 2) Banana Triple Berry 3) Oreo Mint (which is like Oreo + Mint Chocolate Chip) The possibilities are endless. Literally, endless. I can't believe there are still combinations out there that I haven't tried. Like... Reeses Cups + Mint Chocolate Chip - I mean, how is that even legal? Did I mention their pulled pork barbecue is pretty good too? Oh, and at this particular location, you can get a rad Cook Out t-shirt for only $2. Need I convince you any more to go to Cook Out? read more

There aren't many things in this world greater than having mini corndogs or chicken nuggets as SIDE DISHES to your hamburger. If that gets you excited, then Cook Out will deliver an ass-whooping of awesome surprises for you. A billion (slightly exaggerated) milkshake flavors? Fresh pineapple, watermelon, orange sherbert? Umm, yes. The milkshakes are worth coming here by themselves, AND you can get them late into the night. There were a lot of late work sessions that only a Cook Out platter with a shake could satisfy. The prices are absurdly cheap (you can walk away full for 5-6 bucks) and most meals are customizable to your liking. You add the toppings, pick from a menagerie of sides and Boom! Hot off the grill and into your waiting paws. It's beautiful. I suggest making your burgers Cajun with the grilled onions. Slather it with cheese and you have heaven in a bun. Bonus points if you see the Western Blvd. man in Food Lion parking lot and hook him up with some chicken nuggets. read more

After posting my previous review, I have been abused relentlessly by friends and coworkers. How dare any Southerner rate Cook Out 2 stars? After careful consideration, I'm inclined to reevaluate. The Cook Out tray still remains one of the best values in fast food. Get an entree, 2 sides, and a drink for typical fast food prices. Entrees include burgers, hot dogs, chicken tenders, and pulled pork, also known as barbecue 'round these parts. Sides range from the typical fries, onion rings, and hush puppies to the incredible, such as corn dogs, chicken wraps, and quesadillas. Upgrade to one of the better milkshakes out there for only $1 more. Plus, this is Raleigh. Where are you actually going to go to feed the beast when it's 3 AM? All that said, I can't do more than restore my original 3 stars. Not for this Cook Out. They have some of the worst fast food staff that I've ever encountered. Sometimes, if they mess up, it's not that big of a deal. One time I ordered a chicken wrap as my side and received hush puppies instead. Somebody is moron, but it still was a good meal. Other times, I've been shorted a chicken tender, given a burnt burger, and all sorts of other not-delicious mistakes. No fast food worker actually makes enough money to care, but the Hardees at Avent Ferry and Gorman is an example of actual good service. 3 stars and you can't make me go any higher. Cook Out is a good restaurant. This Cook Out is an okay restaurant. Oh and, beware of phantom upcharges. They once again added cheese to my burger without me requesting it. read more
