Yep, tire flat. So I jump online to figure out what time this bike shop opens, 11AM. I call in case they do a seasonal shutdown and they confirm they are open for business. We are promptly served, about 5 folks working upfront. We are in/out within 30 minutes with a new tire tube installed plus some advice on future service I will need after I request an inspection for other defects. So I suspect I'll take my bike back at the end of this riding season or early Spring 2025. Their inventory is awesome. There was a customized none-motorized bike upfront waiting for pickup that cost $8K. Mine blowing! They have lots of e-bike too. They have lots of bikes, period. They have a small 2 seat waiting area with coffee service. I bought my bike from them, many moons ago and she's still in pretty good shape(except from being dirty I was told with a smile). The recommended future service stuff is low cost routine maintenance type stuff IMO.

I was contacted after the original due date to inform me of the additional length of time. Once the repair was completed, I needed an adjustment to meet my original specs. This adjustment was performed while I waited, which I was happy about. Lastly, the final cost was about 20% higher than the estimate. No explanation offered. Overall, the shop is cool, nice inventory, nice location, plenty of accessories, cool staff and a competent repair shop. Hours of operation are from 12-5 from M-Sat which doesn't fit a normal customer's work schedule at all. I had to either take off work or plan a Saturday around this repair. But having said that, I'm sure management has a good reason for these hours of operation.

I had another bike shop repair the flat for $30.00 and it took less than hour. It was noted the debris was inconspicuously in the rubber part of the tire that most people miss. Daily Rider may have replaced the inner tube but missed the debris in the tire. I say may have replaced the inner tube because there wasn't a cap on the tire when I took it to Daily Rider. I'm told caps come with new inner tubes. Why didn't Daily Rider put the cap that came with the new inner tube after reassembling, I paid $90.00 for tire repair that included a new inner tube with the cap. When I took the inner tube back to get a refund because another shop fixed the flat that Daily Rider couldn't. The person who took four days to work on my bike to no avail said that I had bad luck and got another flat on the way home from the Daily Rider shop.

DC has some law against selling used parts but not so, fair Mount Rainier -- the city actually donates the space to this volunteer-run effort. The co-op was founded by a bike whiz who still works the wrenches there and is eager to teach the nuts and bolts of bike repair to anyone who cares to listen. Service and parts a tad more expensive than Phoenix, but still quite reasonable, especially for DC cyclists used to paying a premium at stores in pricey neighborhoods like G-town or Adams Morgan. You can shop for parts and do your own repairs if you're so inclined. My Review for Scooter Solutions and Cycles I honestly…read morebelieve that many of the people leaving negative reviews are bringing in old, badly damaged scooters/motorcycles and expecting a miracle. In reality, those bad reviews are a very low number compared to the actual crowd this shop serves. Every time I am there, I see the long lines for maintenance and repairs, and at least half of them look like old, beat-up scooters/motorcycles--not just brand-new ones. And the shop does a great job on all of them. In fact, I recently talked to a guy there who had a really old, beat-up scooter, and he told me himself that this shop always fixes his problems perfectly. Come to think of it, every time I go, I see multiple people with both old and new scooters/motorcycles all having positive experiences, getting positive results, and sharing positive feedback. My own experience here has been entirely different from the bad reviews and consistently excellent. Fantastic Customer Service, Fairness, & Why There's a Wait The lady at the front desk is always incredibly polite, nice, and highly knowledgeable when it comes to paperwork and explaining how things work. In fact, when I once asked if I could pay extra to skip the line and get my scooter/motorcycle fixed faster, she told me that they operate strictly on a "first-come, first-served" basis because they want to treat everyone fairly. I respected that level of integrity immensely. It is true that they are often backed up with a lot of scooters/motorcycles in line for repairs and maintenance. But there is a reason for that long wait time: it's because they do good business and people keep coming back! Yes, you might have to wait a little bit for them to get to your scooter/motorcycle, but once they do, they are going to fix it right. They tell you the truth about the timeline depending on how many scooters/motorcycles are ahead of yours, and they deliver real results. Expert Mechanics & Honest Sales Mr. Gus is the boss, and he is very polite and extremely knowledgeable about the mechanical side of things. The technicians who work under him are also incredibly kind and highly skilled. I have purchased two rides from this shop--first a brand-new scooter-style motorcycle, and later a second brand-new motorcycle. They are always completely honest about the price and they never try to pressure you into buying something you don't need. They patiently answered all of my questions and genuinely want to help. They go out of their way to make sure you get the best experience possible and leave completely happy with whatever scooter/motorcycle you choose. Neither of my rides has ever given me an issue, and every time I bring them back for scheduled maintenance, the entire team does a fantastic job. Why I'm Writing This I realized that people rarely take the time to write a review when things go well because they are busy with their lives. But the moment someone is angry or emotionally distraught--often without even understanding the mechanical issues they are dealing with--their first reaction is to leave a 1-star review. I don't usually write reviews, but Scooter Solutions absolutely deserves the recognition. They run an honest, high-quality business, and they are hands down the best place around for anyone who wants their scooter/motorcycle taken care of the right way.
