Once I found out their Papua New Guinea medium roast bean is the old Jamaican Blue Mountain bean transplanted to Papua New Guinea, I had to try a cup -- black. One taste is all it took. I was hooked. The rest is history. Now I have shipments of Camano Island Coffee Roasters coffee sent to me every 8-weeks. My favorites and the Papua New Guinea Medium Roast and Columbian Reserve. But I've also tried the Ethiopian, Brazilian, Honduras and other blends. They're all good and, best of all, the beans are sent to you the day they are roasted. If you don't have a great coffee brewer here's a tip from Jeff Erickson, owner of establishment. His tests reveal a simple conical pyrex type recepticle with a convex receiver using brown filter paper makes the best coffee. Brown paper is preferred because it doesn't contain bleach that will leach into the coffee. It's easy to go online and order. But if you listen closely you'll know who is dating who and what they think of having to work shifts they don't want... Maturity, focus and attentive management would turn this cute concept into a shop to patronize. As it stands, we avoid it because we just don't need the frustration. The reason I love it is the flavor. I love the roasts that come out of this shop, and they are all made in small batches the Oak Harbor shop. I usually default to the French toast, but I'll basically take whatever they have brewed that day. Recently though I switched from drip to Americano at the urging of one of their baristas, Alea (she's the one with the stunning curly hair and great smile). Anyway, she whipped out this americano and it was so smooth, nutty, and rich. The crema on top was like candy. Now I get it every time. I'll admit, this stand has got it a little rough. It's right beside the ferry which leaves every half hour, so they sometimes get slammed during the time between boats. Occasionally they have two baristas which helps on the busy weekends, but I don't envy them in that little red box! Basically, I think the world of everyone who works in that box. They are the sweetest people and no matter what the other Yelpers say, I'll be going back for a long time. (Tomorrow morning, in fact)
