Highly recommended…read more We coffee lovers crave excellence, that pure, easy on the palate mixture of subtle influences from the soil that suggest the complexity of the 1,000 organic compounds that makeup a strain of this magnificent equatorial bean that has smitten millions over the millennia. Yet we don't know how to find great tasting coffee. As luck would have it, the local Convention and Visitors Bureau rep. suggested this place. Once I found out their Papua New Guinea medium roast bean is the old Jamaican Blue Mountain bean transplanted to Papua New Guinea, I had to try a cup -- black. One taste is all it took. I was hooked. The rest is history. Now I have shipments of Camano Island Coffee Roasters coffee sent to me every 8-weeks. My favorites and the Papua New Guinea Medium Roast and Columbian Reserve. But I've also tried the Ethiopian, Brazilian, Honduras and other blends. They're all good and, best of all, the beans are sent to you the day they are roasted. If you don't have a great coffee brewer here's a tip from Jeff Erickson, owner of establishment. His tests reveal a simple conical pyrex type recepticle with a convex receiver using brown filter paper makes the best coffee. Brown paper is preferred because it doesn't contain bleach that will leach into the coffee. It's easy to go online and order. Just go to https://camanoislandcoffee.com, set up an account, shop, and you're good to go.

Oh so good pastries, cakes and pies. Everything you get from The Baled Cafe is out of this world…read moredelicious. Gotta get here early if you want the good stuff before they run out. My favorite is the almond croissants I can eat a couple of them on one seating. They also sell chocolate and interesting and unique household items and artwork. We bring all of our friends that come to visit. It's a place you have to stop at when on Camano Island

I'm downgrading my previous three star review to two stars, based on the business owner's snarky…read moreresponse to my review (see photo). Five months ago, on a Saturday or Sunday, my boyfriend and I had lunch at The Baked Cafe. The burgers were good, the buns were mediocre, and the fries were outstanding. The meal was over $40, without drinks. The owner was the only person working. After reading other reviews, we expected a wait, but over a half hour was excessive. There are only two booths, and we were lucky to get one. Because of this, you may end up taking your food to go or eating outside. I left a honest review after our experience, and the owner responded (more like reacted) quite unprofessionally. He mentioned Wednesdays; we were not there on a Wednesday. He mentioned that if we prefer "nutty" (it's Nutty's) or "five guy" (it's Five Guys), that he "felt sorry" for us. Well, I won't feel sorry for him when his business fails.

It's not that they have bad food; they can make a decent sandwich. It's not that they have bad…read morecoffee, or bake bad cookies. They actually do an ok job sometimes (don't get the croissants though. Raw in the middle). It's just that the service can be so distracted it feels like you're interrupting them when you go to the counter to order. And your food might show up all at once, or more likely whenever they get around to it. They may or may not forget your order while gossiping or arguing. They might over steam the milk in your latte. The soup might not show up with your sandwich. Your mocha might not be stirred, leaving all the chocolate in the bottom. And so on. But if you listen closely you'll know who is dating who and what they think of having to work shifts they don't want... Maturity, focus and attentive management would turn this cute concept into a shop to patronize. As it stands, we avoid it because we just don't need the frustration. There's nothing here that isn't being done better elsewhere. Nice idea, gen-z execution. Not recommended at this time.
