I've been looking for a new nail salon to consider my "go-to" for at least three years after my favorite place switched ownership resulting in a severe shift in quality and customer service. I was thrilled to find my "new" nail spot with Contempo Nails. Hannah and Jenny are incredible and their work is excellent. They always manage to get me in whether I call over a week out or same day. Three weeks ago, I had a gel mani and (aside from my natural nail growth) it still looks brand new. Their spa chairs are luxurious and externally hygienic. This place is not the best if you are looking for quality gel nails. This photo is 5 days after I went to do them. They very really nice and gentle but the work is not good enough for me. I pay 51$ for this and pedicure. I went Tuesday to tell them that the work wasn't ok and they glued my nails and that was it ! I was so sad and disappointed. Never coming back. read more

I've been coming here for a few months, say about 6 or so. The owner is always very nice and welcoming. She knew who I was after just one visit! Their pedicures have always been fairly quick and basic. I'm getting ready to go on vacation, plus my feet really needed some extra TLC. I specifically asked if they could do a longer pedi, and I stated the above reasons. I was told OK. They never give you any options, they just go to work. After I was well into my pedicure, the salon started to get busy, and that's when things started speeding up on *my treatment. Little to no buffing or dry skin removal. An extremely short leg massage. Immediately followed by polish. I was asked if I wanted to sit there while the polish dried and I said "sure". Before I knew it, my shoes were being put on which I took as a sign that it was time to go. I don't know if the owner told the technician to hurry up, because they communicate in a foreign language that I don't speak. RUDE! I left feeling like I was "in the way" or that I wasn't welcome there. That's no way to make your paying repeat customers feel! My "longer" pedicure took just about 20 minutes! If I wanted to go to a pedicure factory, I'd go to ProNails on Jefferson. I *thought this place was better! I would have paid for a longer pedicure, but $25 for a ~20 minute treatment is a rip off! If I had the option of picking no stars I would. I am in town visiting from SoCal and needed to get a pedi and a fill. I chose Contempo because I used to go when I was younger (it was called Mimi's then) and was satisfied with the work they did. I didn't make an appointment because I figured it was early enough to walk in and Napa is a small town unlike the cities I reside, LA and San Diego. I was deciding on the right color when a lady snapped at me shouting "ARE YOU DONE PICKING YOUR COLOR?!?" She continued to hound me about my color and how she could do my nails right away but to not take anymore time at the color wall. I sat the color down and walked out. I would not recommend this place simply because you can't treat people that way and expect them to shell out their hard earned money. read more

This is by far one of the best nail salons to go to in Napa. Hands down. You are always greeted with smiles and kindness. The beautiful thing about this place is that there are lots women working here that can assist you with whatever nail fixture you're looking for. They rarely make people wait or come back at another time because they're busy at that moment in time. If you do have to come back or wait, I highly recommend it. Any other nail salon is going to make you wait longer and you won't get the service you're looking for. On weekends I would recommend making an appointment. I can't talk enough about how kind these women are... I've never felt more comfortable at a nail salon like I do here. If you would like to have a great conversation with one of them it is absolutely encouraged or if you're looking for a lil R & R while you're getting your pedicure they allow you to have your peace and quiet. As far as pedicures go, a long massage is what I'm always looking for and Mimi LOVES to give long foot massages. I recommend booking an appointment with her. She is a popular lady and most of her day gets booked up fast. There is a wide variety of nail polishes as well as shellac colors. This place is very clean and the pedicure chairs are extremely comfy. There is a TV on display for every one to watch regardless of what treatment you're having. You will definitely walk out of here satisfied with your nails did. They take their time but are extremely quick to get the job done. I have been coming here for a while and the ladies here do a great job. I always get pedicures never manicures, so I assume that they are great at that too. It isn't a fancy spa but it's affordable $20.00 for a pedi. I think that it is 30 for both a pedi and mani. The ladies are a little hard to understand sometimes but still very nice. They have over sized pedicure chairs that have the built-in massage and they keep them very clean. They are open till 7:00 everyday , except for Sunday. If you have a favorite you can request one of the women specifically if you call ahead of time otherwise you just walk in. read more

I have had many great mani/pedis at Contempo. I have found that Sandy is the best gal for me. Sandy is very detail-oriented and gets every last bit of cuticle. She spends a nice amount of time massaging my legs and feet. She isn't too rough like I have found other technicians to be at different salons. I usually bring my own polish because I know its fairly new and can fix a chip if I need to--almost never happens unless I get a manicure (I work with my hands and wash them a lot). Massage chairs are awesome and the atmosphere is very friendly. Like other posts, they do always remember your name and most other women I see there seem to be regular customers. I wasn't impressed. The place was really dirty and it was obviously they were reusing tools back to back between clients. I requested my gel nails to be applied as thin as possible. I got the opposite and I pointed it out to her. She said she'd file them down. They still came out super thick. There was a huge line behind me. My seat had already been promised to a new person in a few minutes so I wasn't able to have her work on my nails longer. She also didnt apply the gel all the way up to my cuticles. So there is already a huge gap after only a dew days. And they charge $50 for a full set with shellac. Not worth it! read more

Pros: Nice ladies, large space. Cons: Subpar work. limited nail colors, pricey! I treated my nieces (7,8,12) and my sister to mani/pedis this weekend. My nieces were serviced first. They had a great time getting pampered and the ladies made them feel special, which I really appreciate. By the time they got to my sister and I, I felt like they were rushing. I understand it was Prom weekend, but I'm still a paying customer. Word to the wise, ask for prices prior to getting there. They aren't posted anywhere. I gave them my credit card to pay, assuming it would be about the same amount I pay at my normal spot in The City (maybe a little more since it's in Napa) but I wasn't expecting $187!! This was for basic mani/pedi. No gel/acrylic, etc. Ok, the girls had dots added to their hands and toes, but really?! I paid, because, really, what choice did I have? I figured at least I had my nails done and they look nice right? WRONG! It wasn't until I had left the salon and we were on our way to lunch that I had a chance to really look at my nails..they left some of my old nail polish (bright orange) in the creases so you could see it through the new lighter color! Everyone there is really great and have done a fabulous job with my nails and pedicure! They have won me over and I now go back every two weeks! This place is OK. I got my nails done here a couple of times. I don't remember the name of the woman, but I got her twice and she is a very bad manicurist. One time I went there for a pedicure, and she exfoliated my ankle bones. She literally cut my ankles with the plastic exfoliater. I had to wear bandaids on my ankles for about a week because I had open cuts/wounds! I am not even sure if she was licensed yet because of such a poor job she did. Ouch! read more
