Our internet line was not properly buried. We had our yard aerated last fall and the line was cut. A new line had to be ran, however, CC uses a contractor to do the actual burying of the line so they were not able to bury it same day. It has been over 8 months! The line is still exposed despite calling numerous times (at least 3 times a month). Mowing the yard is a pain! I am about to cancel service. I should not have to pay until this line is buried and buried well! This is terrible customer service even if this is something that is being outsourced to a third party! Worst business practices ever. Do not use this company if any other solutions are available in your area. Left us without phone service at a Not for profit for months at a time. We received a letter with approximately 56 days to find new service for our entire company as they were discontinuing our service. CC does not want to spend any funds to update their infrastructure in our area. They then raised our final billing 3x the previous rate. Had to pay the increase to Port our current numbers to our next carrier. Talk about kicking you as you go out the door. What a horrible company. They do not care about their customers at all. I fit, this company provided good service for us, we had no problem with anything until I made a simple change on our banking ! no change in the account or card just a simple change on the address for my statements. this change in zip code caused our automatic payment to be denied! It caused an interruption! They disconnected our service and when we called to fix this issue they questioned the address on the card being billed! since when is it their business to question that? after being told there was a 100 $ reconstruction fee and monthly rates are going up due to this violation of my banking address we are stuck paying extra for the remainder of the contract! First, I have never put a bad review on the internet, but this company is awful! No wonder they make you sign a two year contract. No one would stay after a month. Our TV lags and forget about downloading and uploading information. Our phone hotspot has almost 100% more speed. They said they can fix it for more money. No way! Zero stars. My father lives in a senior retirement community and has no choice but to use CC for cable and internet. Those have worked fine but he keeps getting charged for things he shouldn't. When I've called or emailed about the problem, the call is always dropped (I've called many different phone numbers) and the email never goes through. This is the worst customer "service" I've ever tried to deal with. It's really no customer service at all since I've never actually been able to speak with anyone at CC. Absolutely the worst cable reception ever. I changed my service to fiber after having standard cable for many years. Now the pipeline cannot keep up with simple cable needs. Moved to this service 5 months ago and can't wait to get rid of them. Have used chat, email, and phone to get a question answered with no luck. Most are rude: email wasn't responded to, phone people aren't real friendly, chat person didn't answer the question and finally said "thanks for contacting us, have a nice day" and clicked off. I've been increasingly displeased with the level of 'service' of this company. Twenty years ago they were decent; however, as competition and prices have increased, the service and quality and declined. There should not be an inverse correlation between the two, Consolidated. Most recent and final insult? The email change! Here are my gripes: 1) The incorrect time stamp on my incoming (and perhaps outgoing) emails! Some people actually pay attention to the date and time of emails and as some of these may be used as evidence in a court of law, Consolidated should remove its head from its rear and get this corrected. 2) My contacts were wiped when Consolidated made the anticipated email change. Yes, I still have an address book but have no idea who most of those people are! The real important emails that I routinely use are gone. And we just got a lousy, "Sorry" from Consolidated because they aren't able to help. WHAT?!! Perhaps Consolidated management and employees need to enroll in the Nordstrom charm school so that they know telling a customer "We can't help you." is never, EVER acceptable. Good thing is that I can change my communications. At this point, I'm thinking two tin cans and string and snail mail will be superior options to what Consolidated Communications is providing. I can only hope that the company is acquired by a competitor--service couldn't possibly be worse. read more

I've been with Consolidated Communications since January 2016. I have the 30 mbps internet service. Since that time, my bill has continued to increase for the same service. They now offer my same service for a fraction of the price. In fact, according to their website, I could get the 50 mbps for the same price that I am currently paying for the 30 mbps. But, when I called them to inquire, they told me NO! I'm not asking for favors. I am only asking to get the same prices they are publishing! I am not in a contract with them so it's not a matter of me breaking a current contract. I called twice in a 2 week period and got the same results with both customer service reps. They were rude and dismissive. It must be the culture of Consolidated Communications. They said that these online rates are for new customers. They did put me on hold for over 15 minutes to then come back and offer me the 50 mbps for $65/mo. The published rate on their website is $44.95. SEE MY PICTURE! I am paying more than that for the lowly 30 mbps. Another corporation who doesn't really care about the customer. read more

If you want below average service at an above average price, then Consolidated is for you. TV reception pixelates for most sporting events -- every Royals & Chiefs game. The TV menu system looks like it was programmed on a Commodore 64 from the 80s. They have far fewer extended services than TWC or ATT, like mobile. Lenexa Customer Service Office is Closed?? I went to the Lenexa Customer Service office on November 2, 2019 at 9:30 am as they were always open on Saturday's. There was a sign on the door saying the office will be permanently closed on November 14th. Why is the office closed on November 2nd then? I can't press 4 on my remote (the 3rd one I've had in 18 months). How am I suppose to get a new remote on the weekend? You are out of my way during the work week. So frustrating. read more

My Arris DVR box keeps generating errors. The content is often on the wrong listed channel. Other times the tv box can't connect with the separate DVR. Rebooting the DVR box fixes the issue. We have had the problem for over 6 months. We swapped out DVR boxes, had technicians to the house 4 times, still happens. Happens to our neighbors, also. The lady at Consolidated referred to it as a "tuning" issue. One of the techs said that HQ was waiting until the problem hit social media before fixing it. I am tired ot it. I can get Google for a little more with a LOT faster internet. Was a better local company before all the mergers. read more

We have been enjoying consolidated communications for years. We build a new house in 2017 and counted it a privilege to call consolidated Communications to install cable in our new house. The service continues to fail us. We have to reset the cable box. The first time they came out and replaced the box but after a week it started up again. "No signal Detected" on the TV is now a daily or every other day occurrence. The service techs say they are working on the issue but it seems to have not be fixed. They need to resolve this issue. I work remotely so they will be getting a call from me whenever there is an issue even if a service tech comes out to unplug and plug it back in. I will be switching soon if this is not resolved. read more

Horrible customer service! Stay away and find another provider. Signed up for service and they couldn't even call or make it in the 4 hour window they provided. I had to call and make sure they were coming. Tech called an hour late saying he was there. Tried calling back and his phone would not receive calls. Called customer service and dispatch and by the time I got through, 10 minutes later, they said tech had left already and won't return! I have had this service ever since the companies name was Everest. Never a bit of problem with them. They were bought out by Sure West and noticed a decline in services. Now they were bought out by Consolidated and I am very sorry I didn't go with Spectrum. After my bill snuck up to over $210.00 a month and I got a flier from Spectrum for far superior service for $50.00 less. I called Consolidated to see what they would match. Which actually wasn't all that much. But they did say I was going to get a 50 meg internet line where the one I currently have is 18 and dropped the price down. Two months now and I have still to see my 50 meg line. So I log in and go to the online submit a ticket. First couple of times were ignored. When they do answer, they say I have to supply my PIN number. In my reply I stated the obvious, I have to submit my pin to get to the form to fill out. Can't you just look at what I am getting and fix it? No we are not allowed to do anything without the pin. So than I get on online chat, Customer service says yes it is 50 you need to chat with Internet, Internet says I only have 18 talk to CS. I even copied over my statement that showed 50. Reply I got was "If you have a problem with the bill you need customer service. Phone time. Get on with customer service, which sends me to Internet (after a good 30 minutes), which says" I understand you are having trouble with your internet speed CLICK dial tone. No one picked up after my dial back. I am so fed up with this company read more

Well folks, I have had issues with cable losing connection however, always friendly to me in helping. I checked other services from different cable companies. I got the basic plan of 125 channels and internet from another well know rated 5 star cable company. Thought I would have good selection of my favorite programs ...WRONG Out of the 125 they offered , 55 were selling items, and advertisements for products to buy. I can do this from internet .Why !!! would I pay for advertisement I don't want.? I want cable to watch programs not buy items. My internet was fine very few issues. Website is incredibly out-dated and non-user friendly. Customer service has been sub-par at best. Had a recent tech support issue, and called to get a resolution. The agent seemed annoyed that I called, and actually hung up on me about 4 minutes into the call. I gave him my number twice before this happened, so even if it was an accidental disconnection, they could have called back. You get what you pay for I guess, but I would HIGHLY recommend AVOIDING Consolidated Communications. read more

Consolidated changed their spam software in January 2019, and it does NOT work. Consolidated created a "quarantine" folder on all the internet webmail accounts, and it is catching lots of good emails. I discovered that several valid business invoices that I have been receiving for years now go to the "quarantine" folder. No one at Consolidated can provide the criteria used to "quarantine", and it cannot be changed by me or the technical staff. This problem has existed for 8 months, and no one at Consolidated can tell me when it will be fixed. This is totally unacceptable. Consolidated did not notify me about this update, either. I've been a customer of Everest / Surewest / Consolidated for over 20 years. Service used to be good, but Consolidated no longer provides good service. In addition, my bills have increased over 12% in the last year. read more

Have been trying to make a change to my account for 3 weeks now. They keep telling me they are "diligently" working on the problem. I don't think so. I want to upgrade my bandwidth but they are showing I have zero bandwidth and that has to be fixed before they can help me. They do continue to bill me for bandwidth, however. Called in to talk customer service. First rep was nice enough but I had to call back because the problem was more than my internet, I was also having problems with using video on demand feature. The second customer rep put me on hold without telling me so. He fixed my problem but never told me he had fixed it. He just never came back. I stayed on hold for 15 minutes. I have been a Loyal customer from the very beginning. Since they have been taken over by Consolidated the service has gone way down. My internet and phone have been going off and on for the past month. I have called numerous times to be told that there is an outage. And they have been working on it for 3 weeks! Every time they have me reboot. And it stays on for half the day off half the day. This morning we received a call saying everything was working. Guess what? This afternoon no internet or phone service. My granddaughter had her grad party here and prepared a cute You tube video to show on my TV, but we had no internet all day. I have had to use my cell phone hotspot which has cost me $20.00. Today I called to discuss a credit for the last month and was put on hold for 20 minutes. I guess I am not the only unhappy customer. I am sick of calling internet tech everyday. Get it fixed or I am out of there. I called back customer service and have been on hold for 30 minutes this time. I will keep it on hold. Oh how I wish for the good times with Everest! I contacted Consolidated several weeks ago after their new email system went up. I found almost all of my emails were gone and asked them to check into it. I had to call yesterday for another matter and mentioned I never heard back from anyone about my email. The Consolidated person said they had no record of my 1st call. Nice! After going through all my folders I found just "a few" issues. I have a quarantine folder with over 2000 messages, and most appear to be trash I've already deleted. I know I keep more messages than I should, but I do empty the trash regularly. I now have 2 sent folders and 2 trash folders, and which folder a message shows up in appears to be random. So a message I send today can show up in either sent folder. That's a really handy feature! My spam folder includes emails from my regular contacts. These are not spam! And speaking of contacts, mine are gone. Consolidated's answer to fix all this is for me to go through my folders and straighten them out. Not sure how I'm suppose to fix the missing contacts problem. So, in summary, it appears that Consolidated did a quick dump into my email account to make their problem go away and I, in turn, got the problem dumped into my lap. Not a happy customer! read more

Service is out about 20% of the time and the 80% it does work it only runs at a quarter the speed I signed up for. Customer service is extremely rude (I am as cordial as can be) and lives hanging up on you, which is frustrating to say the least after you sit on hold for 20 minutes each time you call. They miss every appointment after the initial set up and their techs just mark that they showed and fixed the problem. I wouldn't recommend this isp to my worst enemy. read more

Everything would have been fine if it had not been for Bob. Sorry Bob, you apparently deleted the ticket you were assigned so I assume there would be no record of that it was you who told me that, "we don't allow third-party modems on our network; we never have. No one in the area (Kansas City Metro [Overland Park]) has a non-provided modem plugged in and working..." The speed is fine and the price is a tad high, but that's due to not being allowed competition. I'm forced to pay for basic cable where I live and now it seems the "Optional" equipment is not so optional and I have to pay for that too. Now here's were it gets a little technical because I just so happen to know a little bit about computers: I had an ARRIS SurBoard 6183 DOCSIS 3 modem. (Which I bought and used without flaw with TWC). Everyone but Bob says all it needs is to plug and play, and we don't have a way to add your MAC address, it shouldn't be needed. (It shouldn't be needed for a provided modem, because all the MAC's are already added to their DHCP server). Now CCI claims you can use your own modem, found here: Device Attachment Policy Customers have the flexibility of attaching any MODEM of their choice to their Consolidated Communications High-Speed Internet service provided that the modem supports the technology that the customer is provisioned on. Consolidated Communications will not support any MODEM related issues for the customers that attach a non-certified MODEM. Consolidated Communications customers may attach any device of their choice to the MODEM they select. Consolidated Communications also provides a Modem / Wi-Fi routers to customers at no charge. This device provides the technology to attach many customer devices to Consolidated Communications High-Speed Internet service. Additional router equipment is not necessary for most users of the service. https://www.consolidated.com/support/terms-policies/internet-terms-policies/broadband-management-policies The part that they squeeze in is they can employ a MAC filter as part of their "technology" a person is subscribed to, but that is deceptive and not actually "technology" that is a practice or policy capable within the DOCSIS 3 technology. In fact it is usually employed by all DOCSIS 2 and 3 services. It would be odd if it were not, what is odd that "Technical Support" if you can call it that, does not know about CCI in KC's MAC filter, and the local technicians along with everyone else are under orders not to add third party modem MAC addresses. But the problem with that is, if all that is preventing the connection is their refusal to do what is needed on their end to allow my modem to connect, it is not my equipment that is not allowing the connection due to some technological incompatibility, it is the refusal of their company to abide by their own company policy either through ignorance or negligence. Now I've been through my fair share of shake downs but this is the most petty and based on complete paranoia. Just on the small chance my equipment was the issue even though the ARRIS modem shows that the DHCP request is not being responded to in the modem log and an ACCESS DENIED message by the WAN connection indicator. I went ahead and bought the EXACT SAME MODEL MODEM that was provided. Cisco DCP3008. Which has the exact same Firmware file name and version number. Plug and play? Nope. 8 full hours of trying to connect gives me no internet, it is constantly scanning saying that the DOCSIS DHCP is perpetually in process after the downlink and uplink are completed. So an experiment, this model has a reset button for factory settings.Since the firmware is exactly the same then I know CCI has not modified it, so the modems work exactly the same and scan the same exact way. Upon resetting the provided modem, it established the downlink and uplink and was granted a DOCSIS DHCP provided IP address and was granted access in less than a minute. Less than a minute from a blank slate on the provided modem. My same exact model/firmware modem 8 hours later is not granted access from the same staring factory reset point. This means and can only mean, "BOB," was telling the truth. They have MAC filtering turned on in the KC area and no one across the company is allowed to add non company modem MAC address. Say I buy the modem they gave me? Well the problem with that is then it won't belong to them and eventually they will remove that modems MAC address and/or serial number from the access list. While the speed is fine and everyone but "Bob" was friendly, "Bob" was the only one who knew what is going on. The issue with "Bob" is he doesn't seem to think being forced to rent optional equipment is any kind of unethical issue. Well it is, and it's against the regulation for company policies are part of established contract and the contract is being violated, and false advertising statute, etc. Breaking an agreement that is offered is bad. read more

I am so angry right now with the Technical Support. One of my cable boxes is not working. I called support, it took several minutes for anyone to answer, then they transferred me to the TV group. It took many more minutes for that group to answer. The person that I was connected to asked for my callback number in case we got disconnected. He was helping me troubleshoot different issues with the cable box. Then my call failed. I was on the phone with them for 33 minutes total. I waited 30 minutes for them to call back, they never did. I called again and went through the same wait periods, first for someone to answer, then for someone to answer once I was transferred. This person asked for a callback number. I explained that I provided that to the 1st person and never received a callback. He said they didn't have any control over that because they were required to answer the phone as the calls came in. I asked if you get disconnected from someone, why don't you call them back immediately instead of answering the next call. He said that they didn't have any control over it. So, I was on the phone the 2nd time for over 30 minutes and we were in the process of picking a time for a technician to come out, when the call failed again. No surprise, there was no call back. What I can't figure out is why do my calls to them keep failing? I can talk on the phone for a long time to a lot of different companies, without the call failing. It's almost as if they have it programmed to cut off after a certain amount of time. In any case, management should require that if they get disconnected from a customer, then they should call the customer back immediately, instead of answering the next call. If that is not mandated or supported, then please don't give me false hope and ask for a callback number! read more

Do yourself a favor. Find another company! Worst customer service ever. The service has not functioned right since installed. After repeated visits by "repair men" and finally a new system it still doesn't work right. No compensation has ever been given on a bill for bad service or outage of service. When I called today I got a rude service rep on the line that didn't care about the problems I am having.
