Ok, I'm just going to come out and say it: the few negative reviews here are fabricated. Probably written by some competitor's sister-in-law. They have to be. They can be safely discarded. I live up in this mountain community and this is by far the best breakfast place anywhere around. Heck, If I were down the hill I'd still drive up here to eat. The food is always fresh, hot and plentiful. They use top quality ingredients, too. This ain't a Sysco joint. The bacon is absolutely fantastic, thick, lean and flavorful. It must cost three times what the average diner serves. The sausage is good stuff--Jimmy Dean, not the cheap, fatty garbage so many other places choose. The breakfast tamales are to die for, made fresh every day. And here's my little secret: It's not on the menu, but I usually order the breakfast burrito smothered in half green chili and half gravy. Incredible! And huge. Their green chili is made in house and it's some of the best around. Their 'grub' plates are awe inspiring. You'd better be hungry. And what the heck is up with these negative reviews about service? I call BS. We've been here a hundred times and not once have we received anything but excellent service. The staff here is quick, courteous, accurate and they always are helpful with a big smile and a thank you. And I can't remember a single time when my coffee got below the half way line. Ok, I guess people are people and it's possible that someone was having a bad day once upon a time, but if that were the norm I promise you I'd know it by now. Stop in, eat and see for yourself. Great place for a coffee and large Peanut Butter Cup cookie. Sandwiches and egg/potato type stuff looked great. Most important for me was that there is a new Tesla charging station right out the front door. Quick service with order at the counter is perfect during a 20 minute charge. read more

Total disappointment. $16.70 pre-tip for the biscuits and gravy meal (biscuits and gravy, 2 sausage patties, eggs) and an orange juice. Everything tasted like it was frozen/canned product. It was extremely bland and was served luke warm. The orange juice was the best part of the meal. The one positive of the experience was that the staff was all plenty friendly - buts that's not enough to overcome the poor quality, over priced food. read more

We stopped in for lunch. I wish I would have seen the soup of day. I would have ordered it but the chalk board blocked by the booth top rail. I had the grilled bacon tomato and three cheese sandwich. The food was decent, just basic diner food, nothing really too special about it. The service was a bit slow and inconstant. DW's is a great on the mountain diner. We come here often for breakfast and have yet to be disappointed. The food is good. Prices are good and the service is good. However. I have to point out our server Jessica. We've had her a few times as our server and we have to say... she sets the bar high for this place. Not taking anything away from the other servers but Jessica works extremely hard. She's always very sweet and just there when you need her. She provides the type of service you'd expect in a Gordan Ramsey restaurant. I'm not kidding. I travel for work and eat all over the country and Jessica is up there with some of the best servers I've have ever seen. Her work ethic is incredible and her attitude reflects that of someone who takes pride in there work. We need more people like her in the world to be honest. So this is less of a review and more of a thank you for always making our experience at DW's awesome. We hope that whoever reviews these for the restaurant will pass this along to Jessica. "Three strikes=You're OUT!!!!!! We have given DW'S three chances. All three times I have eaten there, I have barely made it home to the bathroom. I even had a different meal each time, just to make sure it wasn't a particular food that upset my stomach. I even drank only water with my meal the other two times. I thought it was just me that had a problem with the food, so on our third trip my Husband and I took our Mother from out of state, and our Daughter with us too. Needless to say, all of us were fighting each other for the bathroom as soon as we walked in the the door when we got home right after eating. I live in this community and support all local businesses especially the Mom and Pop restaurants because I how much work it takes to run your own business and be successful. I wish them luck, they would never survive in a state which has regulations requiring periodic inspections and food rating system. read more

I have been here a few times. Every time I have noticed that the whole restaurant is dirty! Bathrooms are filthy and the floor surrounding the kitchen is always dirty. They have great comfort food, but nothing even close to a healthy option. We will not be back. read more

Uhgggg....service is slow but fairly friendly. The food is even slower and generally tasteless. My husbands hot beef sandwich was the exception as he said it was flavorful and good comfort food. DW, please accept my apology for the unnecessary satire in my original review. Edited Review: I tried this place last weekend and while the wait staff was lovely, I'm afraid the food, in my opinion, was not. I ordered the pasta primavera but disliked it so much, I could not eat it. The bowtie pasta was very overcooked and fell apart when I tried to pick it up with my fork and the the spicy tomato sauce, to me, tasted like canned tomato soup. I've since learned their sauces are made by another company and not in house, which is possibly why I didn't like it. D.W., again I'm sorry if you found my original post offensive and hope you accept my apology. I do ask that you please stop sending me messages. We loved the atmosphere and our waitress was nice, but finding a dark hair (I'm blonde) in my rueben was really off putting. Add to that, they still charged me for it after I handed back my un-eaten sandwich. Looking back in the kitchen, we saw the culprit, one of the cook's hair was pretty free flowing. He didn't even try and pull it back after the waitress took my sandwich back to the kitchen to be remade. So, we are definitely not returning. read more

I'm not sure what's going on here. I have been here 3 times and the first and the last were horrible. The second chance I gave them was fantastic. I had the broaster's chicken and it was fantastic. I couldn't get enough. I ordered it to go on my 3rd chance and it was disgusting. This place is "ok", it seems like it has potential. I mean the food is "ok" but the prices seem a bit high for what it is, the restaurant (tables, floor) has been dirty when I have been there, but the staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is kind of "cabiney". I dont dislike DW's, I just have better options in the Conifer area and when I want to eat I generaly go to one of those other places. Cute decor, clean, thoughtfully made food... Pancakes had cinnamon in them I think. The homemade donut holes are a must! We had a really nice server. The portions are HUGE. Not an update that'll alter much what I originally said back in June..but I thought I would add that I returned to this place with husband and 2 yr old in tow today. It was mid-afternoon and there was only one other party there. Service was OK...the fella managing our table was chatting with the other party for a long time, and I knew my kid's lunch was waiting to be delivered (heard the bell ding) so that annoyed me a LOT. But the child ate up all his lunch and enjoyed pulling a toy out of the treasure chest. Husband enjoyed his Tuna Stack. This visit, I completely zoned out when it was time to order and ordered Black Tie Pasta. 3 minutes later I was like "OMG did I order *pasta* in this joint?" because you know there's no way a place like this will do right by pasta. I was right to be concerned: the pasta was so overcooked and mushy, it was nasty. The sauce was totally un-special and thicker than I personally enjoy. And the chicken ("blackened") was so salty it was nearly inedible. HOWEVER. The garlic cheese toast that came on the side was heavenly. So, again, as with the visit in June, it's OK. Be careful what you order and don't expect too much. Nice homey atmosphere. There's bar seating in the back that was kind of cool. read more

My order came with bacon; however, it looked very brown and burnt. It wasn't hard however. My guess is they didn't clean the grill off. Other than that, it was average. read more
