There was lobster, pan tried noodles, pan fried silken tofu, fried shrimp & broccoli... I had two plates! Burp! Pigged out! Not only was food good it's pretty spacious with a main dining hall and upstairs as well as many private rooms. The decor was beautiful with even a beautiful koi pond. So pretty! Definitely bringing my beloved family here one day soon. Service was great. There wasn't enough straws or hot water for tea and whenever I mentioned to hostess she was fast. The worst restaurant experience I've ever had. How do you have so many employees on shift just to walk around and do nothing? Nothing we tried to get someone's attention worked. Not raising my hand, not saying we wanted to order, and making eye contact only made them look away. They did not even care when we got up and left; they did not even acknowledge us. There were plenty of empty tables and way too many servers with big bluetooth headsets for them to be acting like we weren't worth their time. I would not have cared about anything, not even them doing prepwork in the dining room, if we could have just eaten congee and sweet potato pancakes. But no. Save yourself the frustration and go anywhere else. We ended up going to Prince Tea House where everything was cute and the servers knew how to do their jobs. read more

Came here tonight for what Chinese call "siu-ye" - a late-night or midnight snack. For Chinese, congee is rice gruel or jook, a very basic common dish. That's what we ordered, sampan jook (we got lured by their menu photo of this dish), plus e-fu noodles. Both so basic to make. Well, we were wrong. The food was disappointingly bland. I will say the service was good and responsive. We even got free dessert, a pleasant surprise of four slices of fresh and sweet watermelon and four cookies that looked like almond cookies, but tasted more like sugar cookies. This gesture was definitely welcoming. We entered the restaurant and went downstairs, greeted by a Koi pond - swimming Koi is a Chinese sign of fortune and luck. I want to say this place has been here forever but this was my first time here. The restaurant itself was decent sized. There's dining tables on the first level but the bulk of the tables are on the lower level. There's a cool pond with some koi fish right as you come down to the lower level. Plenty of tables with private rooms in the back as well. The have a full menu as well as dim sum carts flowing around the dining area. You can order the dim sum right from the carts. I finally visited Congee village here in Flushing after many years visiting the Manhattan restaurant only. I must admit this location is very cool! Now I have to admit, some of the prices are outrageous!! Barramundi Sea Bass (2.5 lbs) was a whooping $95!!! And a big plate of Snow Pea Leaves w.Garlic was $26!! Crazy high prices but the food is delicious! The Barramundi Sea Bass dish was a large portion, and has to be one of the best fishes dishes I've ever had in a Cantonese restaurant. Other restaurant also serve this dish but Congee Village's version is outstanding. (It better be at $95!! lol) Customer service is excellent. The servers are always friendly and attentive; very accommodating to my senior relatives. Note that there is a parking garage in the same building as Congee Village but does NOT offer a discount to Congee Village customers. Rates are $12 for 2 hrs; $15 for 3 hrs...not too bad! You can take the elevator straight up to the restaurant from the garage. This has been the most requested restaurant for my relatives from San Francisco. Congee village has been my goto for the not so hectic dimsum place. I like it that it's not overcrowding, you can sit comfortably. For a dimsum restaurant, they don't open until 10:30 and if you want congee of noodle dishes, they aren't available until 11am. I don't understand why people have to wait until 11. For the most part, their food is solid, doesn't really stand out. I do like they're made to order steam rice rolls, the cilantro is my favorite. Came here with a huge group of people which was great because it allowed us to try a bunch of different dishes. To start off, I always love the Sautéed Snow Pea's Leaf with Garlic and Lobster with Sticky Rice. They were definitely a table favorite along with the Pork Chop in Peking Style. It was a couple of people's first time having frog was that was fun to watch as well but frog honestly just tastes like tender chicken so we all enjoyed that as well. The only dish that I thought could've been done better was the Honey Walnut Jumbo Shrimp. It was just okay because I felt like the breading was too thick and it wasn't crispy at all and overall was just lacking in flavor as well. The honey walnuts in that dish though were still delicious. Service here was okay. The dishes we ordered were great and got to the table very soon after ordering. I came with a group of 3 and we sat comfortably. The tables weren't super close together like what you'd get in the rest of Flushing and the AC was flowing. I hadn't known this gem existed for years. The sampan porridge ($8.50 per order for 4 small bowls) did not have the usual ingredients, but it was delicious nonetheless. I added a deep fried dough to go with the porridge for $2.50 and was happy with the portions. We got sweet & sour pork for the table and it was fried and flavored to perfection. I couldn't stop eating it and the portions were huge. I would definitely order this again. The fried filet fish dish with salt and pepper was disappointing because the ratio of fried fish was less than the saucy side. There was complimentary fruit after the meal and desserts too. It was a gathering for my family and we order so many dishes - we got soup, lobster stir fried sticky rice, fried mantou, sweet and sour pork, and of course the Peking duck Service was super quick and responsive, we had dinner around 7pm on a Saturday and there was a good amount of tables open but still busy. Great place for the locals and older folks to gather for dinner. I really like the interior and how spacious it was compared to other restaurants. My friend and I stopped in while waiting for a shop nearby to open and it paid off! We didn't check the reviews until after we had sat down and the low rating had us worried, but our experience was great. I came here with my family as a really large group. My uncle had already arranged a private table and paid for this 11 course meal that came in at over $1000. The majority of the food was not good. It was just bland. The thing that really bothered me was some of the higher priced menu items were not served. For instance, we were supposed to get duck. There was no duck. We did get an extra soup. It's Mother's Day weekend & we made reservations in advance. We still had to wait 40 minutes after arriving 10 minutes early for our scheduled reservation. They clearly overbooked and were not prioritizing reservations over walk ins. Then they ran out of their specials... which was one of the reasons why we came here. It is 7:15pm.... Seems to be pretty popular spot for lunch for asian groups. Loved the internal decor. The servers were very nice and very willing to help. It was easy to request more food / dim sum items. Food was okay, but overall very salty. For the lobster rice, the lobster was delicious but the rice was dried - and it was just too much rice. I would recommend ordering a plate of lobster with ginger and scallions and a different type of fried rice to balance out the meal. The noodles were yummy and vegetables tasted fresh. The salted fish, chicken, and eggplant dish had a watered down, salty flavor. The mini pineapple buns were delicious, just make sure you eat them while they are warm. Be careful when eating the custard buns, the filling was more liquid-y than anticipated. Lastly, I thought the chinese sticky rice tamale was nasty so probably don't get that. We really don't drive to Queens unless we're visiting 2 of my sisters who live by Kew Gardens for the holidays. So when one of my husband's ex-colleagues and her husband invited us to dine here on a Saturday in early May, we couldn't say no. Hubs' friend's initial plan was to hit the Bowery location but scratched that to avoid chaotic Manhattan traffic. Their '36-36 Prince St' entrance looks more like an office building than a restaurant- so exited and turned the corner. Congee Village is grand- at least I think it is. It opens to the main floor, walkway leading to a dining room and stairs for their main(?) dining space below where you get the full scope of their open kitchen. Since hubs' friend and her husband frequent this location, they actually ordered for us- especially when I told her I'm a Pescatarian and love vegetables. Plus, she talked to the servers fluidly throughout our meal and requested anything in particular. Beverages were great and everything else went uphill. Hubs' and friends enjoyed the crispy boneless pork chop dish and the sautéed beef chunks+veggies. She raved about the lobster sticky rice she usually orders for her family and ordered it for the table- except, she'd asked our server if it can be prepped without the bacon(?). Negative. Hubs and his friends enjoyed it. The fish+veggies was great and so were the vegetables dishes I ate. Service was pleasant and so attentive. Ambiance is amazing. But not enough crab meat in the e-fu noodles with crab meat. It shouldn't be costing over $20 when it barely has crab meat. The congee are all pretty affordable. The guilinggao is ok. The tea has a deep earthy and herbal flavor. Service was pretty fast. They gave me the check asap when they saw my hand up. It wasn't slow. Tried to eat here yesterday, and I say tried because after rudely being pointed to a table and given menus nobody seemed to want to take mine and my friend's orders. It was not busy and there were plenty of waiters walking around with their hands behind their backs doing absolutely nothing. I have eaten here before a few times and while it did take a little while to get service those times it was nothing like this. We ended up just leaving to go to a different place that actually cares about customer service. If I could give zero stars I would, never wasting my time trying to eat here ever again.
