Dogs with sauce and mustard with fries.

This is a local eatery with a varied diner-like menu that specializes in Coney Dogs--hot dogs with mustard, onions, and a house-made sauce. My dogs are delicious. The interior has an old school luncheonette vibe. The staff were attentive and very polite. If I lived in Scranton, I'd probably eat here every day. Not many of these places left in the U.S. where the family runs it, passes down recipes, and makes the town a better place. Next time I go, gotta try their soups.

I wrote a review a few years ago and confessed the only minor negative about this restaurant is the cook who doesn't believe in wearing gloves. Well, we went in this weekend after a while and he was wearing gloves. Thank you grandpa for paying attention and reading our reviews. Coney Island Texas Wieners are the best in the area!

This place knows how to constantly put out the best dogs and burgers. Don't pass up the chance to visit here and don't confuse it with the other one down the corner. This is original and hands down best. Pete and his brother are great and the service is always attentive and friendly.

Five stars for the hot dog. Five stars for the fries with gravy. Five stars for the friendly service. Five stars for the retro setting. This is not a five star restaurant, though. No jacket required. Little counter/diner joint about a block from Steamtown. Hot dog is served split, with onions chili and mustard on horizontally sliced roll. Very different but very good. Fries had options for chili gravy and cheese. Loaded dog and loaded fries ... Under $6. Check in yelp and save 10%, only 60 cents so I put in the tip. Also had birch beer instead of root beer. Nice touch.

Scranton is on the way to everything, so there's no excuse for not coming to Coney Island Lunch. If you love a greasy spoon in a city stuck in time, it's definitely worth the trip. We drove up on the way to Binghamton University, now every time I hear "Scranton" I think of The Lunch. It's way old school. The whole town is. I think I might love it there. It's not thriving, but it's getting along fine in 1955. The grill is exposed in the front for you to see when you enter, you feel like they are cooking just for you. The prices were so cheap and the people were so personal, we just kept on ordering more and more food. I could eat there forever. It's like the excitement of eating here metabolized the food just as I was eating it - what a great state of equilibrium! Their speciality is the Texas Weiner. Here is a description from the website: "We start with a Berk's All Beef Wiener. Sliced in half, but not all the way through, and grilled to perfection. Every action is performed in front of the customer, the way its always been. Then we serve it on a steamed National Bakery Roll (a local favorite). Add our Dsseldorf mustard and fresh diced onions (diced by our 1928 Model Hobart Chopper), the wiener is then topped with our famous homemade Chili Sauce. Mmmm..good!!!! " For me, it's just as much about being in a down-home middle-America type of diner as it is about the food. It's really just chili dogs, chili burgers and fries. They have other items too, of course, but who's gonna get a tuna sangwich? The prices are stupid, every thing's just about 2 dollars. Go and don't stop eating til god catches up to you.

By far the best Coney Island style hot dog ever. Bun stays strong with an ample portion of topping.

There was the option for Rodizio (endless table side meat with the buffet as well) or Boardwalk which is just the buffet. We chose to do the Rodizio all 3 of us. The buffet, was underwhelming. As a positive I will say each item we grabbed from the buffet was absolutely delicious, the correct temperature, and FRESH! They refill their boardwalk bar constantly. The buffet just didn't have many options. There were 2 tables basically side by side. One hot side where there was garlic broccoli, brown sugar carrots, mac and cheese, beans, rice, mash potatoes, and sweet potatoes, shrimp (which my wife adored) etc. In the middle a very amazing yucca stew. Then cold side had regular salad bar options, tomatoes, cheeses, lettuce, dressing, potato salad, pesto pasta, etc. Maybe if we went with the boardwalk option which was $39 something we would have been fully satisfied. However we did pay $70 each for the Rodizio. There were 13 meats, we were there for 2 hours and didn't try all the meats. The meats came pretty slowly with big breaks in between and some cuts of meat went right by us over and over. As well my husband and I requested medium rare, and consistently were offered well done or very well done meat. As well some of the meat was under seasoned in some cases. Some of the meat when it was actually medium rare was absolutely phenomenal, like the lamb with rosemary was all of our favorite. Again to some positives, the owner was very involved, walking around and asking everyone how they were, the entire staff was friendly. The tables were cute with candles in the middle, and the atmosphere was cozy. The place isn't very big so as more people fill in it gets a bit loud and hard to hear your gaucho say what meat they are offering, but they kindly repeated for me over and over despite my terrible hearing. The drinks seem to be amazing, we tried both sangrias white and red, and then got a pitcher we ended up taking most of home (yes they let you!). Which I thought was awesome, and the sangria is to die for! Like I said the meat was slow and inconsistent, but worse was our server, which I will not name because she was a teen and maybe this is her first job, but she consistently walked past us without checking in. Finally we flagged her down to beg for a water refill, and she refilled half the rooms water and stood talking in the kitchen for a bit, before getting us any. Now lastly to dessert. I got the liquor chocolate cake, it was delicious, but in my opinion quite small, though admittedly I'm a fat girl, so I like a good size dessert. My wife also got a dessert, the flan, she also complained it was small. They also only put like 3 strawberries on each which was disappointing because it enhanced the flavor a lot. All in all, it's a fun experience. 10/10 for kindness and vibes. 9/10 for the quality of the buffet. 7/10 for buffet variety 5 or less really, for actual service. Our bill was for three rodizios, two desserts, one beer, one glass white sangria, one glass red sangria, and a pitcher of white sangria. Mind you it was a Tuesday and they do sales of almost half price on sangria by the glass and pitcher. Our bill came out to about $308. I don't feel our experience met expectations. When we go out for anniversaries we drop $300 or more without thought and a good tip, (special occasions we go all out). So we considered if we liked this place coming back for our anniversary, but I wouldn't bother. I left a small tip for the lack of service, and would never go back. I still would recommend it to others if they have patience, maybe speak up more than I did about meat preference, and just want the experience. Go and see for yourself, but just keep in mind to be vocal about preferences, and ready to wait.

They specialize in farm to table and healthy food. Our plans before were running long but luckily their reservation policies were flexible enough that I had no problem moving my time, even on such a busy day. The restaurant was POPPING when we arrived around 4:30. We were seated promptly. The only downside to our experience was that the table was SUPER shaky and wobbly. We asked our waitress for a shim or piece of paper to steady the table but she informed us it was the table head itself, not the legs, so nothing could be done. I was not thrilled about this but assumed that these were tables they hauled out of storage to accommodate the holiday demand, so I can understand. Our server was very warm and friendly despite the chaos. Prices are on the high side but the quality is good and the portions are large. I went for the lobster cobb which was a special and it was LOADED with lobster meat. They really heaped it on. A little light on the avocado, but overall it was really wonderful. My mother went for a seafood scallop risotto which I also tried. It was creamy and flavorful. Our food came out in a reasonable timeframe, and our server was good about getting our check. One thing I really liked was that they put which dishes on the menu are over 500 calories, and most were under. A lovely, healthy dining choice with a nice ambiance. I'd return!

The service was slow, but once we were greeted our drinks and food came out quickly. The inside is spacious, it's in an old building dating back to the mid to late 1800's. The high ceilings and metal work inside gives an old industrial feel. The menu had a lot of tasty choices and the beer menu was fantastic. My wife really enjoyed their Buffalo Chicken Flatbread 13.95 - popcorn chicken, house wing sauce, cooper cheese, blue cheese, scallions. It was more than a serving, sizable and fresh. The flavors were balanced and outstanding. I had the Bison Cheesesteak 16.95 - Chipotle bison, pepperjack, bacon chutney, mushrooms, chipotle aioli, toasted hoagie roll. The flavors were balanced, roll was fresh, the serving was large and it was pretty darn good. The meat had a hot dog/pork pate taste. My 5 year old son ordered grilled chicken street tacos 13.95 - Pico de gallo, jalapeno sour cream, queso. Choice of grilled chicken or beef. It came with three and he ate half.
