This is my 464th review. As the quote above suggests, Coned! has been one of those ideals that you either love or hate. Reading the mixed reviews and the discussions in "Talk" there are a lot of mixed reviews. I, personally, am neutral. Coned! is pizza spite the fact that it sounds like an ice cream shop. They are a food truck turned brick and mortar location. They have a specialized cone pressing machine and a custom oven that cooks said cone in under 4 minutes. I am one of those fellas that like to bite the bottom of the waffle cone and suck out the ice cream--yea, don't do that to this... you'll burn your mouth! It's basically two pieces of pizza into one, all rolled into a cone shape. It doesn't fall apart and is surprisingly easy to eat. They have some dessert cones, too, such as peanut butter and jelly. The place itself is rather small. They do have a private bathroom. Most of the seating is high stool chairs which would be hard for some, especially those with mobility issues and sitting on stools-- beware of that. The staff is sweet for the most part, mostly teenagers. They aren't the most consistent bunch. When I was in there I noticed a drawing and when you order you're to be given a certain amount of tickets per order. The gal gave some people some and not others. It was free drink day and she offered some customer some and not others (including me) with any purchase. This seemed a little bias to me. I had to ask for the drawing enteries. read more

The employees recommended the meat lovers and said it was their most popular, but the taste was comparable to a Little Caesars $5 pizza. The pizza sauce was also too sweet. Tried the seasonal pumpkin pie cheesecake cone and was completely underwhelmed. I also had to go up and remind the employee that we had ordered dessert too. If a new video game doesn't come in 3D, VR, or 4K, I won't watch it. If my pizza doesn't come to me in an irregular shape...I'll probably still eat it, who are we kidding? But hey -- pizza in a cone? That's exciting. The hype surrounding the recently opened Coned! and their irregularly-shaped pizzas was real, albeit a tad subdued. We couldn't get very far in life without hearing about it, so we tried it out as soon as we could! And then I procrastinated for almost a month before writing this. Woops! We tried three different cones between the two of us; we each got a pepperoni, I got the bbq chicken, and Ken got the chicken alfredo. We also learned, halfway through eating these, that they have ice cream cones (it's just ice cream, but the cone is still pizza dough). We each got one of those, too. I ended up feeling so full, I almost died. Here's the thing: despite being a cone, it still tasted like pizza. This is good! However, it tasted like pizza with a *lot* of sauce. More than normal. So if you're big into pizza sauce: you'll love this. I don't know if it has to do with the physical dynamic of it being in a cone, or just the way they proportion their ingredients, but at times you are practically drinking the stuff. - The Pepperoni - With a red, marinara-style pizza, drinking the sauce isn't so bad. The peps were there, the cheese was the right amount of gooey, the crust was pretty solid, nothing special to really note about the taste. Good stuff: Kenny and I both agree. - The BBQ Chicken - The bbq sauce they use is very vinegary. Not something I might notice on more normal pizza, but remember, you really do end up *drinking* this sauce. If you like drinking vinegar, be my guest. Otherwise, the other ingredients were fine but it really got drowned out by the sauce. I can't say I'd recommend it. - The Alfredo - See "The BBQ Chicken" and replace "vinegar" with "alfredo." - The Ice Cream - Now this is worth it. Their ice cream is great (I have no idea who the source maker is), and the pizza-dough cone reminisces of a scone sundae like the kind at Merritt's. If you're stopping at Coned!, you'd be remiss to skip dessert. - The Verdict - Coned! is fine, acceptable pizza...if you stick to the marinara style. I don't know if they're going to read this, but the one thing they need to consider to really up their game is to cut back on the amount of sauce per cone. It noticeably drowns down the other texture and flavor you expect to get from pizza. The fact that it's in the shape of the cone can't hide this from the scrutinous taste buds of Boise's most prolific pizza pundits. Neat idea, though. Two stars for being inventive, but our cones and salad were disappointing. For the pizza, this conical format doesn't allow for browning of the toppings or release of oils in the pepperoni, leaving it warm but unfinished in the center while the crust is very hard and challenging to chew. One bite and grease and sauce were spilling out. It was awkward and not enjoyable. As for the salad, the iceberg lettuce was brown, as if it wasn't rotated or was simply not fresh. Your kids may think it's fun and unique treat, but beware of trying to eat it in the car! Ask for EXTRA, EXTRA napkins! Kudos to them for trying something new. Pizza Cones are a super interesting concept and I really enjoyed the one I got. They have a pretty good selection and they are relatively quick. This place is right down the road from my work and now I feel like I have a place to run to on my short lunches that will make me feel satisfied for as much, if not less, than I'll wind up paying at work. Regular pizza is better. With coned, get uneven amounts of cheese/sauce/toppings with each bite. With a flat pizza, you get the same amount until you get to the crust. It is nice if you're at an event because it is much easier to eat in the go. Overall it was ok but if you're craving pizza, just get good pizza. The overall taste was average for pizza. read more

So the cone is made out of pizza dough and the inside is whatever fillings you would like. We have also always had great service here and there is a fun backdrop wall for you to take pictures with your pizza cone for social media if that is your vibe.
