This place is really nice and colorful. The location is not bad and I have never had to wait. The service has been as good as the drinks. The only thing I would change is making sure the customers know the heat level of the sauce. Oh, the salsa they serve is not that good.

Flying to Birmingham, Alabama, for Thanksgiving, not only did my dining partner and I enjoy a delicious traditional turkey dinner with family, but we also had the opportunity to dine at two decidedly diverse ethnic restaurants as well. In between bites, we even managed to squeeze in a visit to the newly released Wicked at a local theater. The day following our Thanksgiving get-together in Birmingham, a group of family & friends (18, to be precise) met for dinner at a Mexican restaurant in nearby Mountain Brook. Occupying a corner suite in stately Cahaba Village Place Shopping Plaza, Condado Tacos is an extremely popular south-of-the-border establishment where, as their moniker clearly suggests, tacos are the name of the game. In the course of reviewing, I have partaken of numerous variations on the taco theme in a variety of restaurant settings. That being said, however...those recently sampled at Condado make the others pale by comparison. ... But I've jumped ahead of myself... As I mentioned above, we were a party of 18, which could be a major challenge for any restaurant, especially a casual eatery such as Condado. However, the service was spot-on from the moment we walked through the door. And the margaritas were right on target as well. Not too strong, not too sweet, plenty of salt on the rim. Just right...No wonder several of us promptly ordered another round. Dinner began with Chips & Dips... homemade chips and three dipping sauces: traditional guacamole, smoked cheddar, and house salsa (pictured). All excellent. From there, it was on to the tacos... And I should mention that, under ordinary circumstances - in other words, were these normal, everyday, run-of-the-mill type tacos - my dining partner and I would undoubtedly have ordered two apiece. However, as noted above, the renditions served up here are very special indeed. First of all, the tortillas are significantly larger than those encountered in any taco joint you would care to name. Secondly, the fillings are infinitely more generous. And since we considered gastronomic discretion to be the better part of peristaltic valor, we decided to order one taco apiece and then split a mutually agreed upon third... ... Which, as it turned out, was quite a fortuitous and satisfying arrangement. My dining partner went directly for the Baja Shrimp - sautéed shrimp companioned by rice, jicama & cabbage slaw, pico de gallo, and a mango-basil Baja sauce. I, on the other hand, decided on a bit more heat and opted for the Buffalo Chicken with the above-mentioned jicama & cabbage slaw, queso blanco (white cheese), and tiara of chives. Our shared taco was the most intriguing Chicken Bacon Ranch, morsels of roasted chicken teamed with smoked cheddar queso, crispy bacon, lettuce, diced Roma tomatoes, and a beguiling avocado ranch sauce... All three were right on target. In addition to tacos, Condado also offers a variety of Crave Bowls, Build Your Own items and interesting Sides, all worthy of consideration.

We came here on a Monday night to grab a low-key birthday dinner. The inside is super funky, has lots of art, and is very colorful. I built a bowl with chicken and just about all of the toppings. It was a great portion and left me with leftovers! If you download the Condado Tacos app, you get a free half-size dip of your choice on your birthday. I used my reward for the street corn guac (+ served with chips). We also ordered a 4-oz side of loaded tots. These had the appearance of Hush Puppies in a bowl of queso. There were only 3; we did order the half size, but I wouldn't have been upset if there were a few more tots in there. I tried bites of the tacos and burrito that my parents ordered. Everything tasted great! I ordered a seltzer, and maybe I haven't mentally adjusted to today's increasing prices yet, but $7.50 for 1 seltzer is crazy. I'm also freshly 21, so I've never really paid any attention to a bar menu. I still kinda wish I could unorder that... Unfortunately, chips and salsa are not complimentary, you have to pay for them if you want an order. Condado is a franchise, so there probably isn't much leeway for change within each individual location. Overall, the service here was great, the inside is cool, and the food is pretty good.

This place is in the same shopping center as Whole Foods on highway 280, just on the opposite end. I came one weekend with a few friends and walked in to a very lively atmosphere with colorful decor. Our server was really working the room and kept everything coming out at a good pace. The house salsa was good, but the chips stole the show in my book. They were kinda thick and not overly salted. The tacos looked great, but I wish they'd had more flavor. Same thing with the street corn. I'd be interested to try different options during another visit.

This restaurant has something for everyone! Honestly, I did not love the tacos but I really liked the dips and the bowls were so good. The servers are so nice and always very accommodating.

This place is so great! We absolutely love all of the dip choices (the queso is amazing!), and the tacos are delicious and inventive. I'm particularly a fan of their margaritas, too. The menu is pretty easy to follow. I recommend a dip trio- so you have options. I also recommend the "taco recipes" so you don't have to build your own. We've had a blast coming here- my kids love the atmosphere. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and the murals painted by local artists are gorgeous. The only disappointment out of our visits were the nachos. Even our waitress, when she dropped them off at the table, recognized how lame they looked. There was barely a layer chips, with barely any cheese, and barely any steak. And weirdly, the steak tasted like fish (my son also got steak tacos and wasn't a fan).

Ok tacos.... I'm wary of any taco place that doesn't have Al Pastor. The tacos were doing too much in my opinion. They have a soft and crispy shell on all of them and frankly the two tacos I had (Korean BBQ and a steak) were way too sweet, I couldn't even finish them. Wish the menu was more simple. I want a classic taco not all this new-age, jazzed up stuff. Happy hour specials looked ok. $6 house marg on weekdays. Taco Mama is better in my opinion.

Came here for lunch with some friends to give them a try as the menu looked good and I had heard some good things. It was, sadly, not very busy, that day, but the wait staff checked on us very frequently and made sure we were taken care of and were very friendly. They have some great lunch specials of which we all took advantage. I had two tacos and the mexican street corn as my side. The sides come out with some chips, and they come out before the meals. The street corn was very good, but I would like to try the queso next time as well. The tacos I tried were the Purple Haze (chili sauce, chorizo, cabbage, queso fresco, and cilantro-lime aioli) and the Korean BBQ (pork, smoked queso, bbq sauce, pineapple salsa). Both were very tasty, and I would order them both again. I probably enjoyed the Koren BBQ the most of the two I tried this trip. I hope to come back and give them another shot and try out more tacos!

What a fun, new taco place! Who doesn't absolutely love tacos?! Of the tacos that I ordered, The Heater was by far my favorite. I loved how the two I got had double shells with cheese and sauce between them. So yummy and different! I like how you could also choose to build your own if you like. That may be what I do the next time. I didn't try a margarita this time, but the looked absolutely amazing. I say skip on the chips and salsa though. Not only do you have to pay for it, but the chips are trash. Thankfully our waiter was wonderful and was able to help us out in making our selections since it is so new, and quite different from any taco place I have visited.

I've been really excited to try this place ever since it opened. However, one of my good friends had a bad experience here where she waited a very long time only to never be served. Based on her experience and being short on time this past Friday, I decided to just get their app and place a pick up order. I did have to wait a while since there was not someone at the counter, but I saw my order ready on the shelf. I ordered The Heater taco. It sounded really good with tequila lime steak and pepper jack cheese. It was okay, mainly jicama and cabbage. I also bit into something very hard and inedible what I thought was a chicken bone. There shouldn't be any chicken in this taco so I'm not sure what exactly that was. I will not write this place off the list, but I will not be ordering that particular taco again.

Update: I came today for the second time and have now changed my review from 5 stars to 1. Today we came in and ordered food and drinks. The "shift changed" we received our food and have been here for more than an hour without anyone even coming over to ask if everything was ok. When I finally asked for a manager and told him what was going on. He said "we could have asked for help soon" I'm sorry mr manager I shouldn't have to alert you to all the trash still on the table and empty cups. Guess service has gotten worse and not better from my first review Great food! The service could have been better but I can't complain. The place was packed with guest and was a bit noisy but it wasn't so noisy that I wanted to leave.

I saw this restaurant reviewed on Instagram and immediately wanted to try it out. The decor was great. Great place for a family meal, business lunch, girls/friends hangout or a date night. Best service ever! The menu was easily laid out for making the right choices. I however didn't make the right choices. The food was good but I just didn't have the correct combination to get the best flavor. I'll return to get the correct combination for the best flavor for me.

However, you do get served. First of all, this place had AC that was broken or malfunctioning. My group was seated in a corner and we were sweating like hogs during the entirety of our experience. It was actually cooler once we stepped outside (in mid July). I was starving for the steak nachos but was massively underwhelmed. I feel like nachos are one of those things that are hard to mess up. However, the steak was more like ground beef, and despite the amount of cheese and chopped vegetables, the flavor was lacking. Also, there were barely any chips, and the cost to have a refill of chips is $2. When I asked for a water, I was given a water bottle without any notice beforehand that this would be the only option and obviously an extra charge. I will say that the service is very speedy, attentive, and thorough. The margaritas were very tasty (lime, prickly pear, strawberry were the best). However, they were quite small relative to other margs around town and significantly more expensive. For the venue size and atmosphere, I was a little disappointed at the price point for the portion sizes. My nachos, water, and margarita ended up being $25 before tax. I would probably try a different place for the same vibe next time.

It's excellent, but what makes it next level is that SALSA BAR with the best salsas I've ever had. It reminds me of taquerias in California. I drowned my taco in all of the sauces. In fact, I could probably be happy eating tortillas and salsa here. Because, yes, the tortillas are that delicious. As is that guac. Again, some of the best I've ever had, gimmicky tableside guac included (never felt that was such a great thing anyway). Here, you get a generous portion of the creamiest quality guac you can imagine. I can't report on the margaritas other than to say they look gorgeous.
