Just purchased a new Mazda CX-9 Signature at Concord Mazda. Marie, was our Product Specialist and from the moment we met her, she was like family to us. When we initially arrived, we requested to see every available exterior color in the Signature trim. We were driven to their inventory lot and I watched my Wife, review every Signature color available until She finally made her decision.
Marie, developed instant rapport and got us through the administrative phase of the purchase fairly quickly. Both Marie and the General Sales Manager, Eric Dawkins shook our hands and congratulated us after our final decision was made. The final paperwork was completed by the Finance Manager, Omar Draz, in his office. Omar, professionally outlined the details of the contract in full disclosure and made sure that all our questions were answered succinctly.
The "No Brainer" pricing as advertised online partially got us in the door and it gave us additional room to add some extended warranty coverage. Personally, we would tweak the extended warranty components to add more 'substantive value' in terms of what it actually covers on the vehicle. However, we both felt given the "No Brainer" pricing that we would derive sufficient benefit long-term from having it rather than not having it - though we would like it to be more robust in certain ways we think are important.
At the end of the signing, the vehicle was presented to us for the first time. Marie, helped us connect our phones via Bluetooth and we promptly began our own vehicle inspection. Upon inspecting the vehicle, we noted a barely visible scratch on the right rear passenger door. We never purchased used vehicles in the past because we always want the experience of first time ownership which includes that "new car smell," optimal vehicle performance and the visual appeal of a clean driving platform. Needless to say, we were somewhat disappointed in the scratch.
Immediately, Sales Manager, Umar Naeem and our Product Specialist Marie Ang, demonstrated concern that our thus far positive experience not be tarnished or made long-term. Umar, insisted that the problem would be rectified and they made arrangements for their Service Department to resolve the issue. We purchased the vehicle on a Saturday, but had to come back to take physical delivery that Sunday, because we forgot to bring our current insurance card with us, given that we were driving a rental vehicle on the day of our purchase.
By Tuesday, we met with Customer Relations Manager, Brianna Walk. Brianna, basically picked-up the ball and never dropped it. She responded quickly, came out to visually inspect the vehicle and provided her experiential estimate of what Mazda of Concord would be able to do with the scratch. She provided the confidence that we needed to get over the psychological hump of taking delivery of a new vehicle with apparent, though very minor, damage. Literally, within minutes, Brianna, comes back to deliver our vehicle with zero visible scratches, whatsoever. It was my requirement that they not use a Rotary Tool in the application of any chemical to the clear coat. Brianna, assured me that the work was done quick and all by hand, which greatly relieved us. It was a very minor superficial scratch, but still a psychological hurdle when purchasing a brand new vehicle.
We always purchase the manufacturer's flagship offering no matter what we buy. That's been a family tradition of ours for more than 27 years. The Mazda CX-9 Signature is that flagship vehicle. We were initially somewhat skeptical about the 4-banger turbo powered engine, but after driving it for three days, we are no longer skeptics on power! The Signature, does exactly what it is supposed to do when called upon with more than adequate throttle response, reliably consistent tip-in and turbo lag that's hardly noticeable with smooth almost 'linear-like' acceleration.
Mazda, got the power to weight ratio spot on and did a brilliant job of placing the majority of torque on the low side of the RPM curve. The steering is precise and matched nicely with the vehicle's weight and balance while not being overly responsive, nor overly indulgent in its under-steer potential. We love the quietness and comfort of the ride and the fact that we can seat 5 of our family members comfortably (for a total of 7) - and did so immediately the same day we took delivery.
Not all things in life can be perfect at all times. Though, we would like to offer a Fifth Star we feel that our Four Star rating here is a clear representation of the evident commitment to customer satisfaction that Mazda of Concord has demonstrated for us as first time CX-9 Signature owners.
We'll be back in the market again in February, 2018, for a new Tundra 1794. But, who knows. If the fun continues in the new Mazda, we could very well be on our way to a second CX-9 Signature in a different color. Hint: Red! read more
