I am a very happy new diver. I came across Conch Republic looking for a place to complete my check out dives for my open water certification. They truly are the friendliest dive shop! From the dive shop to the boat and everyone in between, everyone was awesome. My instructor Kelly was very knowledgeable and helpful. It made us a lot less nervous on our check out dives. The boat was clean and the crew was very organized. The crew got us out right after roll call and head count. No milling around the dock with this crew. They want you in the water. After all that is what you are there for. I think with a lot of things in life, you get what you pay for. Conch republic is worth every penny. I've been out with a couple of different dive crews and with all the different dive outfits in the Keys, these guys are the ones to go with. Everyone here is knowledgeable, friendly and more than happy to go the extra step to help out. Our group had every level of diver from masters to beginners and they could accommodate all of us, without blinking an eye. As a Deaf diver I need a little bit of extra prep, and these guys knew what to do and how to help with out any trouble at all. Gear rental was a breeze and scheduling was easy. read more

I tried a couple of dive operations in the Keys and I really liked Conch Republic. I am an experienced diver (50-100 dives a year) but lots of local Keys dive ops are geared exclusively toward the once-a-year diver on vacation. Conch Republic can handle both. You can snorkel, shallow reef dive, or go on some deeper dives like the Conch Wall that are too far for other boats to travel to. Everyone was great. They also don't limit you to short dives like some other outfits. One of the sites we went to had more fish in one area than I have ever seen in my diving career. They do nitrox fills, and they will even let you store your gear there if you are doing multi-day diving. The shop is small but well stocked with goodies and souvenirs you will want to bring home with you. Main dive boat is a beautiful, big, roomy Newton with twin ladders and handholds. They really are the best. They also have a smaller Island Hopper that looks comfortable as well. The even do rebreather work. Definitely check them out. read more

Our favorite dive shop in and near Key Largo! Adam was great, and the captain took us to fantastic reef sites. We had an average experience prior to this dive, but CRD was far and away the most friendly and personal dive group we used. If you are interested in a guided dive anywhere in Key Largo, you MUST ask for Lila at CRD! She's a great teacher and very knowledgeable about marine life. She spotted so many sharks, eels, crabs, and shrimp on our dives! read more

There are so many dive outfits in the Keys. My wife and I chose CRD from the reviews and we were not disappointed. They are safe, informative, helpful, and have easy going personality. If you are a novice diver, they welcome you and help you along. The boat was roomy for a group of 25 divers. I appreciated the 2 ladders on our boat (one traditional, one fin ladder). The most helpful aspect of CRD is their website, you can book online and know which dive site you are going to that day. The dive site is very well described. They are located just off of Tavenier creek and a quick shot out to the ocean. read more

I went on a reef dive with Conch Republic Divers today and couldn't be happier. Not only did they accommodate me at last minute and arranged for a DM to be in the water. We had a wonderful experience running a satellite youth camp of over 100 campers in Islamorada, FL. Capt. Gary and the crew over at Conch Republic couldn't have been any better in their customer service as our teens from ages 12-18 scuffled off the back our their boat as we explored some fantastic reefs perfect for snorkeling! Also, I was able to do some diving with Capt. Gary, and he was very professional and friendly as he refreshed me on my SCUBA skills and we took off to get some underwater footage of the campers as they dived. My 2 teen sons and I signed up for 8am dive. We went out with Mark, dive instructor, and a really nice Capt with a soul patch beard who's name escapes me. They were both awesome. Very professional, very nice. Mark took particular care of ensuring our rigs were set up properly and he did a great job of keeping an eye on all of us. He also was great at finding cool sea life along the dives. Both dives were terrific, sharks, nice reef formations, lots of colorful fish. Just what we wanted. They provided water, snacks etc. also was one of the lowest priced dives. We will definitely be back. read more

We had a really good time with Conch Republic! They were able to get me certified, which was a big accomplishment for me. Me and my husband had a blast. They have a fun efficient crew, and a really good boat. Their boat is fast, modern, and large, with ample sized overhead area and places for all your scuba gear. They also have snacks and drinks on board. Everyone on board had a great time. We had such a fun time that we're going back out with them to dive to the Speigel Grove wreck this Sunday afternoon. I cannot give this shop 5 stars all because of the way Captain Ken talked to me when I first got on the boat. I set up my gear and noticed the O-ring on the rental tank was damaged. It tok me almost 10 minutes to figure out who actually worked on the boat and another 5 to find a replacement O-ring (ill bring my own next time). When I did we got it switched out and it was noted the valve was bad captain Ken says "well grab a different tank" however did not show me which tanks were not claimed or accounted for. He also chose to leave the bad tank on the boat. There was an advanced open water student on our trip who happened to grab that bad tank for his second dive, but seeing as though he lacked experience didn't think to check for leaks. The tank needs a new valve and we were still on the dock, no reason it should have stayed on the boat. The crew overall was good once we got underway, but initially they put a salty taste in my mouth with their attitude. To the crew/employees at conch republic, remember not everyone on your boat is a vacation diver with 10 logged dives. Maybe get an idea of who is on your boat before talking to everyone like they're beginners. Overall the trip was nice, the reef wasn't the best, they put us on a reef that was known poor vis when other captains were saying other reefs were open with 50-60 ft vis. could have easuly ventured to one that had more than 15 foot vis. read more

My wife and I dove the Speigel Grove with CRD twice. Very professional and informative dive shop and dive crew. They had Nitrox available for us. The boat was very nice, clean and modern, plus the boat was fast! Coming from Calif's 56 degree water, it was a pleasure diving in Florida' s clear 86 degree water without a wetsuit in October! We will definitely dive with CRD the next time we go to The Keys...Can't wait! read more

This is a friendly and professional operation. We recently relocated to area and wanted to get our PADI Open Water Certification. We choose this business because it came highly recommended by other businesses in area and we live local. We opted not to do computer study but to read material and do classroom there. We stopped a few times to look around and to ask questions. Owner Brenda and and one of her instructors, Dan, answered all our questions in such a friendly manner that we decided to do our training with them. Our instructor Mark Birk was a consummate professional. Friendly, experienced, confident and full of patience, Mark guided us through classroom work and tests, into pool for closed water exercises, and then on to the ocean for practice dives and certification. Total time after doing study material, four days. We totally enjoyed the experience, had super dives, and fell ready and competent to enjoy this sport. I will go out of my way to direct prospective divers here. All personnel, their two boats, and dive shop are top notch. I should also mention that we are in our mid 60s and they made us feel like kids again. I would go back and do it again in a heartbeat. Did 6 dives with Conch Republic Divers at the end of July 2014 and had a great experience. The boats weren't overcrowded (even though it was a weekend) and all of the staff was friendly and helpful. I like the fact that the shop is right at the boat, so you can pay and do waivers inside, do gas analysis at the shop, then load all of your gear on the boat. I've been diving with outfitters that rush you through the gas analysis or don't provide tank tags, but CRD does it all safely and without hassling you. The only reason for 4 and not 5 stars is that you have to pay extra for an in water guide, which is a standard service other places I've been diving, but not in the Keys for some reason. Especially for the deep wrecks that can have strong currents, I want someone who is local and knows the site. I did pay extra for a guide and did not regret it, but it did add significant cost to the total price. read more

We took a group of divers to Tavernier in late July 2011 and arranged for five days of morning two tank dives with between 10-15 people diving each day. The shop operations and the condition of the boat were good and professional but the boat / dive crew were awful. They did next to nothing to assist anyone with weights or gear assembly and made no effort to socialize with the divers to learn levels of experience and to just make everyone feel welcome. In route to and from the sites they stayed on the flying bridge the whole time and only came down when we reached our dive location. None of the crew ever got in the water with us or did anything more that a briefing and assisting in our entry/exits from the water. They also did not assist anyone in changing gear over to a fresh tank between dives. On our first morning during initial gear assembly the man next to me was having trouble with air leaking from the tank/first stage connection. He asked a crew member to to change the "O" ring to see if that would solve the problem. The facial experation the crew member made indicated that he was not very happy to be asked to do this and he didn't really want to expend the effort to correct the problem. That was kind of the way the whole week went. On one day our first dive was on a deep wreck and the second was to be at a shallower depth on a reef. For the second dive they anchored in 8 feet of water and the deepest I found was 22 feet and was a waste of time. My feelings are that they could have traveled maybe a bit farther and put us in 30-40 feet for a better dive but I think they were in a hurry to get back to their dock and didn't want to take to extra time to go to a better dive location. I've been diving for 37 years and have been a Master Instructor for 20 years, so I've seen many operations and this one needs to be corrected. I always tip well because I'm part of the dive industry but I didn't leave a cent, nor did anyone else that I observed. I"ll return to The Keys but next time I'll dive with someone else. read more
