The crew at SeaMonkey Divers have been really accommodating and helpful to our group of 4 with varied experience levels. From prepping all the gear, providing water and snacks on the boat, and making sure everyone is good to go - made for a smooth trip. Underwater, the sites were all close by, and the pace was nice and relaxed. Plenty of marine life from moray eels, nurse sharks, sting rays, conches, turtles, barracudas, and schools of fishes. We had a fantastic experience this morning with the crew from Sea Monkeys! We had a party of four with scuba divers and snorkel eta and it worked out really well. Great operation. For starters, the price was right- $75 per person for a two tank trip. The boat is small, meaning at most 6 divers, so it's not a cattle hearing operation. Great dive master - she was obviously thorough, but easy going. They did one of the best pre dive briefings I have ever seen. In the water; She pointed out a lot of interesting life, and there was a lot to point out. Today the two dives on alligator reef were just perfect, great visibility, Rays, ell, large and small fish of all types, barracudas, grouper, lobsters all over, a huge crab. My regulator leaked... I found this only after leaving the dock! They had extras on the boat for no charge... With most operators, this would have been a wasted day for me. They help set up gear. They helped my wife into and out of the water. Her back bothers her, so they let her take her gear off in the water and lift it for her... Not unusual on a $5000/week resort, but great on a $75 dive... They carry extra fins, masks, etc. that can save you... The charge to use their regulator: $0.0... I know I mentioned that twice, but I'm really impressed. They hung out gear out to dry so it will be ready in a day or so when we come back... They then fixed my reg. The charge for that: $0.0 also... Nice, polite, friendly, but safe and careful. We will be back in two days. read more

Colleen and Ed were extremely personable and down to earth and actually seemed interested that we wanted to book a dive/snorkel trip...unlike so many other companies whose workers seem as if they could care less. Small boat with 4 of us and colleen took her time with us, had all the gear prepared so we didnt have to lug anything or even change tanks. Retirees that bought a dive shop in paradise, they spend their days in beautiful weather helping tourists discover the beautiful reef that traverses the Florida Keys! Unfortunately because of our schedule, I could not stay longer. But having dove all of the world (literally), I can honestly say they are one of the more responsible and professional shops I have dealt with. Moreover, their prices are average when compared to competition anywhere. I had a number of great dives...not too deep because of the reef, so our bottom time was long and enjoyable. She (Coleen, the dive master) had a knack for finding those less than common species (nurse sharks, lobster, etc.) that took the hard work out of diving. My last night there - after I had dove - we had a limo taking us out for nightlife. I mentioned to him where I had dove, and he (as a local) said I made the right choice. 5 Stars isn't enough for how great these guys were to us! From the moment of contact these guys were exceptionally responsive and ridiculously helpful for our needs. Our request was a private dive to spread my father-n-laws ashes. The shop was patient, kind, helpful, respectful and took care of everything for us. We rented our gear since we were traveling from LA and this was our only dive of the trip. The gear was new, top notch and fit perfectly. Our dive master and boat captain were fun, knowledgeable and made sure we were completely happy. We honored my father-n-law then had a nice easy dive at Alligator Reef. SeaMonkey is amazing! We called early in the morning looking for a good deal on a jet ski tour. They worked with our schedule and made everything happen the day of. The price was extremely reasonable for a 2 hour trip on the Atlantic, Gulf, and through multiple mangroves. Chris, our guide made the trip super fun, and even though some waters were a bit choppy that day he made sure to take us places that were easy to navigate. The only downside was that at times it was quite hard to hear Chris when he tried pointing things out to the group. All in all we had an a blast and will definitely be back next time we are in the Keys! read more

We had my 11 year old son certified over a two day period. The equipment was great, the staff was fantastic and the diving was excellent. Mark was the instructor and he performed a superb job, he was courteous, professional and a fun instructor. My son said it was one of the best days of his life. Colleen, Bill, and Capt Buddha were all incredible! I've never experienced the kind of service that we had. From loading the boat, to setting up our equipment, to changing tanks, to washing our gear; the staff at Sea Monkeys did it all! Not only was the dive a memorable one, but the boat was clean and they were so personable. Even Skipper the dog was waiting to greet us at the docks. By far, best dive boat and crew I've dove with! What a garbage place this is. We only went here because robbies cancelled their snorkeling due to problems with the boat and considering there's literally nothing else out this way we came across sea monkey which says they do snorkeling. As soon as we walked into their office they didn't even acknowledge us, and when we asked about snorkeling the woman's response was " you wanna snorkel today?" Then said the weather was not appropriate for snorkeling. I'm not a weather or nautical expert but it was a light breeze and sunny out so I have no idea if it's good or not to snorkel. Either way they had no interest in dealing with us so we just left. They were extremely condescending and probably only care about diving which is fine but don't advertise other services like snorkeling then. I'm assuming the 2 people I spoke to were the same rude people others here have complained about, so don't waste your time. Also we ended up finding a place in key largo, Sundiver, which took us snorkeling and the weather was totally fine and we had a blast. read more

Bill, Coleen and Brent gave us an amazing time scuba diving in the keys. They took good care of us and helping us see eels, rays, lobsters, turtles, nurse sharks and more. They were excellent at communicating and even provided phone calls to update us on the weather. I am giving this place 1 star because thats minimum possible. I would rather give it 0 star. The most unprofessional and rude business I have ever seen in my life. I booked Snorkeling tour for myself and my wife over phone with Colleen. She never mentioned any cancellation policy while booking. We were planning to go for 6 ppl Snorkeling tour, but as my wife was not feeling that well, and we had to drive all they way from Miami we thought about canceling the tour if its possible. So, I called in morning at 9am to cancel my 1:30pm tour. Bill was really rude to me over phone and told me that I had to pay full $100 for 2 ppl for snorkeling tour as I can't cancel so late and there was 24hr cancellation policy which he said I was told during reservation (which was a lie as I wasn't told anything). But, I understand that its not possible for them to get new customer that late and so it was fair for him to ask us to pay. So, we decided that as we can't cancel we will end up go and do it. We told them that we will come as we can't cancel it. Everything was fine till now. So, we drove over 2.5 hrs to Islamorada from Miami for the snorkeling tour. But, when we reached there they told us that as we called for cancellation, they cancelled our tour and gave spot to someone else. Bill was really rude to us saying why did we call to cancel. We tried to talk to him about our conversation that we were not allowed to cancel and so we told him we are coming. Bill and Collen both were really rude telling us that it was our fault that we called. I feel I have never seen someone being so rude and unprofessional to their customers in any business. If they are worried about someone not showing up after reservation, they can take credit card information while taking reservation as most places do. But, just taking someone else as they got a customer thinking that we might not show now is so stupid and they didnt even called us to inform us that. Not only this, they didnt even try to be sorry about it and offer us any other watersports to do or tour on next day or anything. They just rudely told us that we cannot do nothing. I will recommend you not to trust them with reservation over phone. We had amazing trip of south florida, but only disappointment of the trip was to deal with this people. read more

My wife, 14 y/o son and I took the 2-tank dive to Alligator Reef. The dive master was so knowledgable and helpful. She has over 2000 dives on this reef alone. The boat captain made all tank changes and gave all the safety briefing. Since we are novice divers this was perfect for us. 15-25 feet, felt safe the whole time and saw everything imaginable. Fantastic service, above and beyond expectations. We had a very specific and unique request, from the very first contact these guys didn't bat an eye. We hadn't been diving in 10+ years but the boat captain and dive master were patient and positive. The boat was in great shape, rental dive gear was top of the line and new. We have dove with the Sea Monkeys in both 2013 and 2014 and will again when 2015 comes along! There's nothing better than a 6 pack boat with a great crew. Since the previously onsite Hampton Inn was bought out and being remodeled this summer, we stayed in Key Largo and intentionally drove out of our way to dive with our Sea Monkey friends. If you like shallow dives 15'-30', Alligator Reef is 4 miles straight out from their dock. Lots of great marine life to see there too. They do deep dives as well. Very rude and unprofessional people. We booked a Snorkeling trip with Seamonkeys specifically because their online ad said they only use the best dry snorkel equipment. This was important to me because my dad was with us and had never snorkeled before and he did not want a mouthful of water. I had my own dry snorkel. I saw what they gave my dad, which did not have a dry top, and I asked for a better one. The captain laughed and said there's no such thing. I was very aggravated that he'd never heard of an actual dry snorkel! Their ad also said they would spend time practicing with newbies. The first mate basically pulled my dad in the water before he was ready (after telling him he didn't need a vest, to just use a noodle) and he went straight underwater and came up choking because he indeed got a mouthful of water. Instead of helping him get to the ladder, she just stared at him. He immediately got back on the boat and refused to try again. I don't blame him. The reef we went to was nice and the rest of us snorkeled while my dad stayed on the boat; however, they never offered him a refund or even apologized for nearly drowning him! We had to follow the first mate and couldn't snorkel on our own, which made me feel rushed. I wanted to follow a sea turtle swimming but she was dragging us off to look for something else. Overall, for me, it was just ok, but for my dad it was a horrible first and last time! I would not recommend Seamonkeys for a private snorkel trip to anyone, especially if you don't have your own equipment. read more
