We went on a couple of snorkel/sandbar trips with this company and had a good time on both trips. We like the fact that they'll pick you up from the Islander resort where we were staying. We do wish they'd go out to alligator lighthouse for snorkeling. We'll probably use them again in the future. read more

PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING! LOST ALMOST $1000 (Revised to add this paragraph, which trip advisor won't allow edits to include this warning): Be careful. We had 5 adults on this trip. All 5 left reviews on trip advisor and he thinks I'm posting all 5. He's threatening legal action saying we're trying to ruin his business. THIS ALONE is why they have 5 stars on trip advisor. Trip advisor will remove your bad review if he disputes it and you don't reply promptly. Well I replied promptly and so will my family. This guy is crook! BE CAREFUL! He admits on my comment there that winds were 20 mph. That's all I really need. He should have canceled. Booked snorkeling and sandbar for 11. Sent a text 3 hours before departure to ask if weather was a concern. Matt replied quickly saying snorkeling was out due to weather but the sandbar had great weather and the water was calm. (photo posted). He refunded us $330. Not ideal, but we were past the point where we could cancel and decided to take this mans word that the sandbar was worth $816 and that the weather was nice. Weather seemed ok until we got out on the water. The winds for whale harbor at 1pm on 11/22/21 were 19-20 mph (you can look this up). 6 of our group got in the water thinking if they just kept their body in the water they would be ok. 5 refused to get in. 2 were crying. We immediately put the 3 year old in moms hoodie and rocked him to sleep, he was freezing. Holding him provided a personal heater so we were all passing the baby around to keep warm. There were 40 people on this boat and less than half got in. The people who got in stayed at the back of the boat where the wind was being blocked. My brother in law tried to take one of the kayaks out but the wind was just too strong to have any fun. A good captain would ACKNOWLEDGE that the crowd was miserable. Like "shoot guys, I tried. Thought the wind wouldn't be bad but I was wrong. What are you guys thinking, you want to stay, you want to head back." But we got nothing...he cowered in the back of his boat and pretended like nothing was wrong. You look at the photos he advertises and there are tons of other boats and tons of people in the water. On our trip there was ONE other boat and it was a fishing boat, not a soul in the water. At the tail end of the 2.5 hours of hell another snorkel boat showed up (snorkel girl) and less than half of their passengers got in too. I don't know what either of these two captains were thinking. Actually I do. This guy decided $4,000 was too good to pass up and he didn't care that the wind was 19mph - he was not going to cancel. He didn't make eye contact, ignored the problem. Not a single person left a tip. It was hell! $816 to sit on a boat less than half a mile away from the parking lot. This guy could see from his dock the spot he parks his piece of crap boat, could see the flags out there flopping around like crazy! He didn't care! Someone said they were cold and he said, we at least it's not as cold as it was this morning. My husband was the last off the boat and told Matt that he should have canceled the trip, he would not respond or make eye contact. I text him a couple times afterward asking for a full refund and he flat out ignored all communication. (photos shared) We've snorkeled with horizon divers in key largo for john pennekamp, captain pips for sombrero reef, taken the seaplane to the dry tortugas, fished with key largo fishing adventures, eaten at 50 different places. Shopped all over. Stayed at 12 different places. Quite literally have encountered 100 different business owners in the keys over the years and have not had a single bad experience. We LOVE the Keys. Love the easy going laid back island life. We've had 3 different adventures canceled on us due to bad weather (I've left reviews on their cancelation methods saying we appreciated not being charged for a bad experience and appreciated the good call of judgment). This man needs to be put out of business. He is a crook and I plan to work with my credit card company on this because it's crooked. Refusing to make eye contact, refusing to address the situation, and refusing to respond to our inquiries for a refund. Taking people out in bad weather to make money. You clearly lack ethics! I hope you lose your business. Book with a company who won't take you out on a bad day and rob you of almost $1000! read more

AMAZING!!! Is the only way I can describe his experience! My husband booked this snorkeling tour purely at my request. I wanted to go snorkeling, but with a company less "touristy". When I tell you the caption and the first mate where above expectations I mean it. They were both professional and personable. Including my husband and I, there were only 6 passengers on board, which I prefer. I could not rave more about this place. We snorkeled for an hour+ and then went to the sand bar for an hour+ . The drinks were never ending, and the first mate even paddle boarded out to us to refresh our drinks! The best part of all of it is ... there was a doggy on board! Professional yet personable is the only way I can describe the staff. This place will forever more be our snorkeling adventure EVERYTIME we come to the keys! I'm surprised reading some of these reviews... if you're a Karen that wants to complain at every inconvenience.... This probably isn't the place for you. This was the second time my wife and I have done an excursion with Clearly Unique. They gave us such a great experience last year that we had to go again this year. The crew is very friendly and nice. They are patient and are truly there to show you their home. The snorkel locations are accommodating based on weather. We saw a pod of dolphins and Braddy the Captain took time out of the day to take the boat towards them and spend 20 minutes around them so we can all have that experience. The boat operators were super friendly, helpful and fun! They provided clean equipment in excellent condition and answered all questions thoroughly. At first, we were scared to go kayaking, since we had a 15month old with us on the boat and we just signed for snorkeling. But the owner suggested strongly that we go on this kayak trip and so we signed up. That was the best decision that we made. Kayaking was amazing! We kayaked through mangroves and to a lagoon. It was definitely a very secluded place and close to nature. We saw a baby shark, green sea turtles(wow they are so quick), ospreys, several other birds, several sponges, variety of fish in that clear water, a relatively harmless jelly fish too! The water was warm and weather perfect to enjoy the trip. The little one had so much fun too! And then we expected a similar experience from snorkeling. It was unbelievably poor. The place where we were taken to snorkel, the waters were murky and there was not a great coral reef or aquatic life. All I could see was sea weeds through unclear waters and a few fish (not too interesting). If we just signed up snorkeling like we planned to, I would have given this place a 1 star. Overall, it was a good trip and a wonderful experience. The jet-boat was super fast (not like the slow sail boats, so that helped with my motion sickness) and we loved the ride back to the harbor. read more

Okay fella. I posted this review (as anybody would after being stood up for a tour) and forgot about it until you decided to comment a year and half later. Instead of hounding people who post an honest review about your company, admit your faults and work on them. We got there 15 minutes early because that is what you said do. We already wasted time and money getting to the dock, we are not about to sit around for another two hours waiting for somebody who already stood us up. Sheesh! read more

Do not use this company. My friends and I booked a tour to go clear kayaking and snorkeling with them. We got to the dock and there was a huge thunderstorm coming. We didn't feel comfortable being out on the water in that storm. The captain said he would try to get us a refund from the owner. I have called and emailed repeatedly and no one responds to either. I am disappointed to lose the money but the poor rating is mainly for the fact that I can't even get an email reply. read more

Made a reservation over the phone for the morning session even though he said that he did not have enough people to take out a morning session. The next day I asked if I could be put with the afternoon session just in case I would be able to make it and he told me that would not be a problem. I called later and told him I would not be able to make the following days reservation as I had thought before, keep in mind this is our third phone conversation at this point. He laughs and says "as long as your outside of the 48 hours you're ok I guess" and basically tells me that he is going to charge me the full price for two adults when before all he told me to do is to call beforehand, throughout this whole thing he is chuckling and laughing. When I brought up that he did not say anything about this "rule" he said "it's in the literature" and laughs again. I try telling him that I called the reservation in and did not see any literature on his place; he cuts me off, says "sorry" laughs and hangs up on me. After speaking to locals about this place I am extremely glad that I 1. Did not go and 2. Did not give the owner my actual credit card number as I have heard about a ton of these shady practices in the keys. Apparently the "clear" boats that they have are extremely scratched up and cloudy, the scenery is pitiful at best, and the owner is extremely rude. I wish I would of asked around before calling this place. There are a ton of things to do in the keys, avoid this horrible human being at all costs. read more

We had a fantastic tour with Captain Eddie. He is a very small charter. He picked us up at the docks and had the kayaks loaded inside the boat. In addition to my husband, there was a local that lived on his houseboat in the marina. He boated us over to a small island of mangrove trees. It was super windy and I was thankful I was in a shared kayak with my husband. Eddie was very knowledgeable and led our tour from a stand up paddle board. Once we got inside the lagoon area of the island the wind was calmer. He wove us through a channel inside the mangroves and showed us jelly fish, horseshoe crabs, sea turtle and other fish. When we headed back to the boat he pointed out some large sting rays and a couple sharks in the water nearby. We had an amazing day. It was very personal and Eddie seemed very knowledgeable. read more

We got swindled! Do NOT recommend! Will be contacting the Better Business Bureau about this company for sure. Of all the companies we could have booked with, we had the misfortune of booking with this one. We left their boat feeling cheated and scammed. We made it as far as the parking lot before my husband decided to turn around and walk back to talk to the captain and first mate about our dissatisfaction, but they were both nowhere to be found. Unfortunately strong winds made for unfavorable conditions the day of our snorkel/sandbar excursion. Rather than cancelling this excursion and refunding all passengers the full amount of this booking, this company chose to pack us in like cattle and take a full boat of people out knowing that the experience that they would be providing would be extremely limited at best. The snorkel part of the excursion was skipped entirely due to poor visibility (for which only a 25% refund was issued) and the sandbar/kayak portion of the excursion was a bust too (for which no refund was issued). The strong winds and choppy waters made it too hard to paddle around and the kayaks and paddle boards went largely unused as result. The excursion should have been cancelled due to the above mentioned conditions, but this company chose to put making money ahead of their passenger's comfort and experience satisfaction. They charged an above par price for a well below par service. They over promised and under delivered. We were bamboozled. The experience given was not the experience advertised. The crew assured us that we would have calm waters at the sandbar and when that wasn't the case, they chose to ignore the fact that a majority of their passengers were frustrated and unhappy. Everyone on board was bundled together with their parties trying to stay warm. We were all cold. Kids were crying. It was bad. The crew made no effort to acknowledge or take ownership of the situation and aside from reimbursing 25% for not going snorkeling , no service recovery steps were taken. Only reimbursing 25% of the cost of the excursion when 50% of the excursion didn't happen isn't appropriate compensation. They charged everyone onboard for a service that wasn't provided after we were no longer within the cancellation window so we had no option to cancel on our own. At the point that a passenger says to the crew, hey you really should have cancelled this and they reply that they know, seems like they should have reimbursed everyone the full amount. To keep everyone's money shows greed and that they don't care about their guest's experience. We thought we had booked a family friendly snorkeling tour. Had we known this was just going to be an overpriced booze cruise to nowhere (with cheap "rum punch" and off brand cola), we never would have booked it. Won't make that mistake again and hopefully our review will save others the trouble. Terrible customer service. Deceptive advertising. Do not be fooled! Do NOT recommend! read more
