Capt Tony was an entertaining, fact-filled, tour guide. We throughly enjoyed our tour and learned so much about the local areas we were visiting. 10/10 would recommend to family and friends looking to have a even-paced, thoughtful tour of the Tarpon Basin. read more

Captain Sterling's Boat Tours - Boat Tours Near Me - Key Largo, Florida

Thank you for a great tour yesterday, Captain Tony! We had such a fun time yesterday. Our tour group was small, just one other couple with us. Tony did a great job searching out manatees, birds and iguana for us to see. He had a ton of knowledge of the species around and all kinds of local Florida info and stories. He learned our names (or wrote them down but nonetheless the effort was there) and had us also help to be on the lookout for wildlife. I'd totally book this tour again so if you're looking for something fun to do in the Keys, book with Sterling's Eco Tours! There's also a sunset cruise but the receptionist told us not as much sea life is seen on that tour. Thank you again, Tony! read more

Captain Russ's sunset cruise was so beautiful... he is very knowledgeable and it was just a perfect evening. We were so fortunate to see a manatee and a variety of birds. Highly recommend doing this tour at the beginning of your time in Key Largo and he'll give a bunch of recommendations for local restaurants and things to see. read more

Our family took a tour with Capt. Tony' for a 9 a.m. Everglades Eco-Tour in late December. It was well worth it. Capt. Tony is a font of knowledge about Florida's flora and fauna, and about the lore, history and people of the Keys. We were lucky to spot many species of birds, including some up-close sightings, as well as a lucky encounter with a manatee. We learned much about the saltwater Everglades and its mangrove forest. Capt. Tony is an engaging guide -- fun, educational entertainment for our 10-year-old, as well as our teens. A great memory from our Keys vacation. read more

Amazing experience. Captain Dave was a fountain of knowledge. We really appreciate the wealth of information he shared. It was so amazing!! He kept us out a little past the scheduled 2 hours. He was really well spoken, and all 4 of us highly recommended the tour. Another thing that was great, he told you when to pull your phones out for a photo op rather than being tied to them....great time! read more

Captain Tony was a fantastic captain and guide. 2 hours of fantastic sights and information about the Keys and Key Largo in particular. Saw Manatees (although not really many around this time of year), heron and plenty more. I would highly recommend a private tour and do it when you first arrive. Captain Tony has a list of other recommended stops for your time in the Keys. read more

Captain Tony talked for 2 hours straight, we learned a lot and saw a manatee and enjoyed the ride and somehow got talked into licking mangrove leaves. It was a fun activity to do early on our vacation, and helped us to really enjoy the Keys more while we were here. read more

Captain Russ was great and super informative. His knowledge of the area and eco system was very vast. As a 100 ton master captain I was impressed with his boat skills and ability to entertain a crowd. Highly recommend this trip to visitors as well as locals looking ok'ing to learn about the area read more

We had a great time with Captain Russ! He was entertaining and jus plain fun. The best part was the education about the ecosystem. We learned about the importance of the mangroves, saw manatee and lots of fish as well. Loved the locals we got to chat with in the canals. Everyone loves Capt Russ! Great tour. read more

I really didn't know what to expect but I can honestly say this tour was the absolute best if you're interested in nature, history, and fun. Captain Dave was awesome and super knowledgeable, the rest of the patrons on the tour were very good humored and friendly as well. You sit on these patio-type lounge chairs as the captain tours you around on open waters looking at mangroves and various wild animals. I definitely recommend checking this tour out if you're in the Keys, and definitely bring sunscreen and a hat for the sunny days! read more

I had an amazing boat ride with Captain Tony! He really seems passionate about providing tourists with valuable information about the area he lives in. He was funny, informative and really made it a pleasurable experience. The boat ride was calm. You can see the mangrove trees, homes of key largo, possibly manatees, Iguanas, some great birds and it was reasonably priced. I was able to make a short notice reservation because I had a previous reservation cancel. It all turned out great. I would definitely go for another tour! Quick tip: make sure you bring sunscreen! You are in the sun the entire time. It's about 2 hours long. There is a cover on the back of the boat but sometimes it is down during the trip. read more

We've been on this tour twice. It did not disappoint! We learned so much about the keys and the Everglades.

Captain Tony was the keystone of our 40th wedding anniversary tourism! He was like boating through the saltwater everglades with your favorite natural science college professor and best friend. We learned more than ever about the saltwater everglades with Captain Tony. This is a must-do! read more

This trip was AMAZING! Captain Russ was knowledgeable about all things saltwater everglades and brought a comical "flair" to the tour. He knows a lot of people along the way which made it personable with SO many locals. He was accommodating to everyone on the boat as far as what we all specifically wanted to see which made for a great trip. Bird Island was incredible to see. I strongly recommend the sunset tour to see what happens at this red mangrove island. 5+ stars!! read more

We took a tour with Captain Tony and absolutely loved it. It was our last day in the keys and we found their website and said why not try it. Captain Tony spent two hours taking us around the everglades (he was very knowledgeable and we learned alot) and he had us lick mangrove leaves. We were also looking for Manatees. We finally saw three females and a calf as we were pulling back into the dock. We had an absolute blast and would highly recommend. read more

Omg! Where should I start off? Owner if reading make sure to contact me. Terrible experience! Lady called Jill, what a rude and ignorant lady. I was told by her they have a sand bar tour 2 hours duration. I drove 30min from Islamorada in order to enjoy the sand bar tour that all my friends were going so I wanted to meet with them all since their tour was sold out. When I got there captain informed that there isn't sand bar tour available for the day anymore. I called her back and she was super rude saying she never mentioned sand bar tour. I was like okay are you kidding me right?! I was so mad. To sum up, very rude customer service and lack of communication. In my opinion she just wanted to fill in the spot for the tour and not inform customers. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place and would avoid at most since there are so many options available around the Keys. read more

Had a great tour with Captain Larry... we came to see manatees and we were not disappointed. We saw 5 manatees, oodles of iguanas, and several different birds. We even saw dolphins swimming at the dolphin rehab center. We did apparently have a miscommunication on our booking time and the number of people in our party... not sure how it happened when I spoke with them 3 different times. Regardless, they owned the mistake and got a boat to take us out after a short wait, and provided a discount for our inconvenience. This was very much appreciated ... especially after we had driven 6 hours for the tour (Orlando to Key Largo). We highly recommend. read more

A great experience. A knowledgeable captain providing some great information about the area's history and wildlife. We were extremely lucky today to have a private tour. Our gain was someone's loss. While good weather isn't guaranteed, we were also fortunate to have chamber of commerce weather. And did I mention, the manatees. We saw at least 6 including a baby. read more

Captain Larry is the best! He showed us manatees before leaving the harbor. We followed dolphins, saw giant iguanas, ibis, great white herons, snowy egrets, cormorants and more. We saw osprey eating fresh catch, dolphins hunting and more. We toured the mangroves and learned so much about coral, mangroves, and the biology of the keys. It was better than expected and far more informative than other tours we've taken. Captain Larry has an encyclopedic knowledge of the keys and it's marine life. He really was quite wonderful. Can't say enough about his tour guiding skill set. I look forward to follow up tours with the kids so they can learn all this wonderful information up close and personal. read more

We went on this tour with my family and we very much enjoyed it. This is not an airboat ride like you would see in the towns closer to the Everglades. They take you out on a pontoon and show you lots of marine life and and various plants. We saw manatees, sharks, countless fish, many bird species, and the elusive blue croc. We had captain Russ and he was very knowledgeable and friendly. Definitely recommend. read more

We took 3 boys ranging from 12 - 17 on the sunset cruise with Captain Russ. It was fantastic. All of us, grownups and teenagers both, were completely engaged in the tour. Captain Russ was very knowledgeable about the Everglades mangroves, wild life, and weather. He was very happy to answer our seemingly endless questions. I give this experience a 10 out of 10. I plan to schedule this boat tour on future trips to the Keys. Russ recommended this tour as a first stop when visiting Key Largo. He had many recommendations to make our trip more meaningful. read more

Holy sea cow!! Spending a few hours with Captain Dave was the highlight of our trip to the Keys. He balanced his obvious respect for all; nature, the environment, the locals and their homes/businesses along with his professionalism in showing us around and educating us while he did so. We couldn't have asked for more. We felt safe, comfortable and in great hands. Highly Recommend this gem of an an experience to all! read more

Captain Tony was fantastic. The Everglades trip was both entertaining and educational. I highly recommend!

Captain Tony was a great guide on this 2-hour pontoon trip through the saltwater Everglades. You will NOT see alligators but we did we see at least 6 different manatees and three were right next to the boat, different species of birds, fish, jellyfish, and several chameleons. Captain Tony is highly informed about not only the ecosystem of these Everglades but also the politics that shaped and continue to shape the area. It's easy to get the sense that he loves this area and is an active supporter of its health and well-being. He tells great stories throughout the tour and provides many breathtaking photo opportunities of the scenery and wildlife. Money well spent! Don't forget to leave a tip!! read more

My husband and I vacationed in Key Largo recently, and happened to stumble on an ad for Everglades Boat tours. It wasn't as it sounds venturing out for alligators etc. but was instead a very informative and refreshing tour of various sites, red mangroves, John Pennencamp park, history lesson, geology lesson, by Captain Tony. Excellent tour the boat captain was so nice and knowledgeable. Moe (captain in training) was very nice and helped drive the boat to the perfect snorkeling spot. We saw lobsters everywhere (nope can't take any of them), a lion fish, a moray eel, and many other species of sea life. Moe even took a picture of my son and I with the captain at the boat afterwards. These two were so professional! It's so nice to find people that take sea life, boating safety and customer service seriously and can still provide an informative and memorable trip. Thank you! Best 60th birthday ever!! read more
