I didn't even know this place was here in my neighborhood and I am so glad my husband surprised me. Owner is from Sorrento and very personable. Wait staff was friendly and attentive. He took chances by offering Calves Liver and Onions which my husband thoroughly enjoyed. The baby octopus in Cherry Tomatoes appetizer was tender and flavorful. My Pistachio encrusted Sea Bass with Roasted Asparagus was excellent. A different take on Tiramisu-more Mousse like was rich and delicious. First we ordered the fried zucchini and calamari at first I thought it was great until we realized it was sooo salty. Then for dinner we had the penne ala vodka. The worst vodka sauce I've ever tasted. Bland isn't even the word.Then the chicken parm came out. The chicken parm tasted just like the fried zucchini and calamari. A warm italian establishment with a cozy and friendly staff, it's a great addition to the lackluster choices in the neighborhood. Clean and simple menus make it easy to choose without feeling overwhelmed with choices. It's becoming a local favorite for a good reason. Had a big dinner party here and got to try a bunch of things and everything was well made. Nothing really exceptional but just good across the board. Pair that with fair prices and this place is a easy choice to get your Italian cravings satisfied. The staff was very accommodating for a big party and tended to our every need. My husband and I have three young children under the age of 6, so when we go out to dinner we try to frequent kid friendly establishments in the area and avoid more finer dining for the sake of other patrons. (If you're a parent, you know what I mean!) Concettina just opened up within the last 6 months and had great reviews so I begged my kids to behave so we could try it out. I'm so glad we did! We were warmly greeted by several staff and brought to a nice table in the back where the kids had plenty of space - and then the unimaginable happened - a member of the staff brought out a box of toys, markers and paper to the table. Genius! Now my husband and I could enjoy our dinner in peace! They were so accommodating to my children who ate their entire meals (rigatoni and chicken fingers) We ordered the grilled octopus for an appetizer and it was cooked so tender it could melt in your mouth. We both had veal osso bucco (braised veal shank) for our entree. Delicious! I'm a huge fan of osso bucco and this was one of the best I've had. For dessert, I couldn't pass up the panna cotta which was lovely as well. We briefly chatted with owners Alberto and Mary who were very friendly and welcoming. Timballo de vegetali is an appetizer with chopped zucchini and eggplant baked with fresh ricotta cheese on top, kind of like a Italian version of the ratatouille - delicious! He had the fresh Pappardelle Bolognese, the pasta is cooked al dente and the meat ragu is beefy and the right amount of tomato. I had the Battuta di Vitello Saltimbocca. Yeaterday was my 3rd time at this restaurant and it definitely won't be my last. Personal touches and customer service go a long way, when you add delicious homemade food (from the appetizers to desert), it's an easy 5 star review. The owners remembered me from the beginning, first entertaining my two kids with crayons, cards and a transformer figure to play with. They automatically knew what my "go to" dessert was (Terrine- masterful blend of chocolate mouse, almonds and magic). The Cavatelli and Fruite di Mari oozes of excellence, an essences of love, patience, carefully picked fresh ingredients and home-cooked richness (please excuse my Italian spelling errors). Let me start off by saying how comfortable we were coming here and how nice everyone was then the food came and I was blown away. Everything here is fresh and homemade, you can see it even in the desserts! We started coming more often and got to know the owner who gave us a little back story and turned out my favorite meal on the menu (pennetta Alberto) was his growing up and was his moms recipe along with many others on the menu. My neighbor calls & says let's go get dinner. She says up at Willets Point & Francis Lewis Blvd. I pass this Italian restaurant all the time so let's go in & try it. The ambiance is nice & so we say ok. The weather is unbelievably nice & so we sit in the outside dining area. Alberto seats us. Guillermo serves us. Several people came & helped in serving us. We ordered the grilled octopus - the veal special for the day - linguine w/shrimp, mussels, clams. I only have dessert photos bc the entrees looked so fabulous I forgot to take a picture . It may look like your typical Italian restaurant, but it is anything but that! The menu is very large and I would recommend getting any of the seafood dishes as they compliment quite well with a pasta dish. The restaurant was filling up quickly (it was almost 8 pm) but we managed to snag a table. When our food came, our expectations continued to be exceeded. By the end of the meal we were planning our next visit. I absolutely loved the scenery here and everyone was very friendly. This place is perfect for groups or a casual date night. Wow. Came here for dinner date with my boyfriend because he saw it was a new restaurant in the area. Instantly seated by our server Guillermo who was spectacular. Did not expect that amazing service. He kept a good eye on our table and never let our water cups be empty. Free bread on the table to hold us over... we ate all of it... Definitely get the fried calamari & zucchini. Fried with a nice crispy batter but tender ass calamari. Perfect. Marinara sauce was on point too. We also got the proscuitto+ fresh buffalo mozz as an app. With cracked black pepper and basil... yum. Next, I ordered the penne vodka and he ordered the penette alberto - cream sauce with salmon, scallions, and caviar. Both cooked to al dente perfection. Panna cotta dessert to top us off, great taste but wish it had fruit to cut the richness instead of caramel drizzled all over. Ambiance was cute and casual, semi-romantic for a date night! This place should change its name to Pagliacci I have never written a review nor have I ever said something to the staff about how disappointed I was in their portion sizes...until tonight. I usually stay quiet and go about my way. But tonight when I opened my to go order before going home (to make sure everything was there), I was completely taken aback and had to say something. I literally thought I was given someone's doggy bag. When I realized how small the portions were, I had to go back and order a second portion of the pappardelle bolognese and penne vodka as a full order was less than what we all would expect as a half order (and $19 no less). They tried not to charge me for the additional order after my complaint but I was making a point and in no means was I looking for something for free. I gladly paid for it but made it a point to let them know I would never be going back there. A shame because the food is actually pretty good. The thing that bothered me the most was when the owner tried to convince me that the following picture was justified in being a $13 half order. The car key gives you some perspective to the actual size of the dish. The container was filled less than halfway! My wife's half order of gnocchi contained 12 gnocchi! That's more than $1 a gnocchi at $13 for the dish! It's a shame because this restaurant has all the qualities to be your favorite spot to dine: relaxing atmosphere,  tasty food and good service, but it falls extremely short when it comes to reasonable portion sizes--something that usually epitomizes an Italian restaurant. I told them I would rather pay more for larger portions but just put them in the right container sizes. If I order a main pasta dish, I do not expect to have the container half empty. The owner explained that 110g of pasta is a large order. If you weigh 110g of pasta you will notice your child eats more than that size. 110g of pasta literally costs the restaurant $.50. We paid $19+ for half empty containers. This was a special dinner with friends, made even more special by the (lack of) Italian cuisine. We had to supplement with other food at home to feel satisfied with our meal we paid $255 for. Believe it or not. On a positive note, we have left overs. The overwhelming amount of grated cheese they gave us in a plastic size soup container is enough for another 10 meals. I read a lot of the great reviews this place had received and I'm all for it maybe at the dine in level, because like I said the food is pretty good. I have ordered from here 3 times so far. 2 times I ordered the Papadelle bolognese and both time it was really good. So decided to order some take out for the entire family. I bought variety of things, including 2 order of papadelle bolognese. Sadly to say, the 3rd time was good. Maybe I ordered too many things at once for the chef was overwhelmed, or because I got there 30 minutes after it opened, maybe too early. Not sure what the reason was, but basically, for the papadelle bolognese, they did not add the tomato sauce. So basically it was ground beef, pasta and oil. The spaghetti Ai Fruitti Di had no tomato sauce either. I'm hoping this is a one time mistake. But my family doesn't want anything to do with this place anymore. But since I had 2 good experience here. I might give it another try before I blacklist this place. Will keep everyone updated. Let me know if anyone else had this problem also. read more

I can't pronounce most of these dishes, so I'm just going to chat. The sausage/brocolli rabe pasta thingy was amazing. The pasta is fresh - you can tell the diffrence between this pasta and the others. I got a special, this prosciutto/buffalo mozzarella thing that was one of the best things I ever tasted. This wasn't some concoction made from ingredients in Fairway. You can TASTE the freshness. The gnocchi was OK if you're into that. I wasn't able to taste my dad's clam pasta because he finished it all. Alberto, the owner and head chef, is always at the head of the restaurant telling people what he did to make the food so special. He'll also give you advice on how a dish should be cooked and whether or not cheese should go on it. The calamari and wasn't as thick and meaty as what you'd find in Riviera on Utopia, but it was light and crispy if that's the way you like it. If there's anything that could be improved, it's the bread, which wasn't warm and soft like you'd get at the Cheesecake Factory, but everything is made as it is in Naples, where Alberto's from. Ohh, and the Chocolate Terrine was one of the best desserts I ever had in my life. I don't know what the heck it was (A light chocolate cream on top of dark chocolate mousse with candied almonds sprinkled all over). I didn't get to taste the cappuccino, but the froth made that thing look heavenly. read more

I must leave a review for this quaint local restaurant establishment. I neglect I did not take the opportunity to take a few pictures of my food with this review however I will expound on my experience as well as possible to let you know that you don't want to pass this restaurant up. Mussels Fra Diavlo were delicious however for my personal liking I would've added a little extra fresh crushed garlic. Nonetheless the sauce and the quantity was amazing. No complaints at all for this dish. Pappardelle Bolognese was super tasty and well proportioned. Definitely looking forward to ordering this dish again. The spaghetti and marinara sauce with grilled chicken was also delicious. It had undoubtedly a homemade sauce. This was my first order but it definitely won't be my last. I've been wanting to try this place for a while. Finally did and I'm glad because it didn't disappoint. The food was very good. It was done right. Very tasty and fresh and not over seasoned like some places. We had the antipasto appetizer. It was excellent. Great quality. Pasta was fresh and homemade. All four of our meals were great. What a great restaurant! We ate inside last night and the service and food were excellent. Loved being greeted by the owner, who jumped up to see us, and let us choose a table. Service was also excellent as was the food. Really liked the chicken parm- just a light coating of cheese and really nice sauce. They treated it as a delicacy and the flavor was outstanding. The cavatelli with broccoli rabe and sausage was also excellent! The inset was the gesture by the owner's wife to give us a loaf of bread as we were one of the last diners. Not sure why I never reviewed this place but this is a good local authentic Italian restaurant. I've dined here many a times during the pandemic and I'm so glad they survived through it. I highly recommend the shrimp with squid ink tagliatelle (freshly made) and topped with their house chili oil. I also recommend their fried zucchini app which is light and crispy. They rotate new things on and off their menu depending on the season. Recently, they had a blue crab pasta entree that was very good. Definitely worth a visit! read more

They said they only have 1 beer (Stella) so I ordered a Stella (bottle) - they seem to have a huge wine list but I didn't order wine nor did my friend. We both drank Stella. Since we are in this weird pandemic we have to get used to such craziness perhaps. We ordered a few appetizers - my friend remarked that one of the plates had only 3 items - they should have thrown in a 4th - for 2 people. The service was great - the noise of passing buses was annoying. I ordered penne a la vodka - my friend ordered trout. I thought my portion was too small - another reviewer complained about the taste - I agree it was kinda ho hum. The service is 4 or 5 stars but sadly they have less tables to wait on. If you live in the area and love Italian food, this place is a must try. Homemade pasta, reasonable pricing, and a classic Italian waiter will make you have an exceptional dining experience. The place is a little small so I do not recommend for big parties. I got the black pasta which was very very good. It had shrimp and a delicious red sauce over the top. The portion sizes are also very big, for my dish shown it was $18.00 and it had a lot of shrimp so it was by far worth it. Another thing I recommend is the French fries. For only $6.00 you get a ginormous plate of fries that could easily be split between 3-4 people as a starter or side dish. Wish we had some left overs of those! I will definelty be back!! read more
