Husband ordered a 10" German chocolate cake 2 layers. He did the pecan icing on the outside but the in between layers were a caramel buttercream. YUMMMMMMY,!!!!. This was probably the best cake I have had from Concannon'. It was so moist and so delicious. read more

Stopped in around 11am and they had a lot of options. However, some of the staff was rude and I felt very rushed. Every 20 seconds someone was asking to take my order and I was clearly not ready. I'm not prone to hyperbole, and I've eaten at many of the best donut places in the world (Randy's in LA, Firecakes in Chicago, Avon in Pontiac, various patisseries in Europe), but these are the best donuts I've ever had. I'd never been to Muncie before. Fate put it about 300 yards from our hotel, and I thought I'd just grab a dozen donuts from a solid-looking local bakery for our visit. My daughter was the first to bite into one and quickly said in a faraway voice, "This is the best donut I've ever had". I thought she was exaggerating until I bit into an old fashioned sour cream and my brain exploded. No hyperbole. My brain EXPLODED. This is my favorite of the two Concannon's locations. This one has the cafe which is A+++! The donuts are great! The food is even better! Each day they have a soup special. I love all of their soups! I really enjoy their grilled cheese too! It can kind of be confusing in the cafe area. It's hard to tell if they have people who clean the tables or not. We just always clean our own mess up. She made us feel like we were being a real bother trying to order a dozen donuts. This is only getting two stars because the people are amazing and so welcoming! Aside from that! This place is all dazzle and no Quality! The food tastes HORRIBLE! I was back in Muncie for a quick visit just before Christmas. Had to stop in and load up on doughnuts, a cherry pie, and some rolls. First excellent assortment of doughnuts. They had a good chocolate cake doughnut. Very moist. Also ate the red velvet doughnut while my kids devoured cream filled and frosted ones. The cherry pie is second only to my own and was fantastic and a lot less effort. The crust was excellent as were the cherries in the filling. I hadn't had a pie before and glad I bought one. Best donuts ever! The chocolate icing is the old fashioned kind (not shiny) and they lather it on generously. Bread, popcorn, dipped pretzels, candy, pie, cakes...I was impressed by how big this bakery is! They have so many different donuts you'll have a hard time picking just a few so ask for the large box and fill it up. Well first off I have to say, I have high expectations for donuts. I grew up eating Longs homemade donuts! So-- I always compare everything to them. I have now stopped for donuts and treats twice while in town. First time I enjoyed my stick donut with no filling and chocolate icing, an apple fritter and a danish. The danish was on the dry side, not sweet like you'd hope for. I saved the fritter for another day- and well that was a mistake. It was dry and had no flavor on day 2. Yesterday I popped up for another whirl since I was craving a donut. 2 chocolate sticks no filling. I ate 1 and was not thrilled that it was still doughy in spots. This isn't a good taste for me. I ended up licking all of the yummy icing off the 2nd one and tossing the stick. So a complete waste of money. I will say the pretzel stick with chocolate and mini m&ms were good, but Goods candy in Anderson has way better taste. Nonetheless, I wouldn't go out of my way to stop here again. It might be hit and miss on what's good as far as donuts. Many other treats in store. read more
