On a recent trip to Muncie for a professional conference, I stayed at my favorite hotel - the Courtyard by Marriott adjacent to Horizon Convention Center. It's the home base for the Erskine-Green Training Institute, a favorite non-profit as it's an organization that provides training for individuals with disabilities to enter the competitive job market.
I'd wanted to check out The Caffeinery before, but my schedule when in Muncie has never allowed me to be present at a time when it was open. Finally, with a two-day visit planned I had a chance to make the time to head over to The Caffeinery following day one of the conference.
Located in what is downtown Muncie, The Caffeinery is an absolutely delightful coffee joint with an atmosphere to die for and service that will completely rock your world. It was actually while I was sitting in The Caffeinery that I discovered that close friend and fellow Yelp Elite Rick G. has known The Caffeinery's owner since she was a young child.
That made my visit even more special.
The Caffeinery is located in one of the downtown storefronts. It's an older building, though The Caffeinery does a nice job of weaving together updates without compromising the charm and history of the building. I was able to travel the couple of blocks from the hotel by wheelchair without any concern - plenty of curb cuts, though maintaining some awareness is important since some curb cuts in this older area are in a bit of disrepair. That said, I had zero issues. There's also quite a bit of street parking surrounding The Caffeinery and a delightful absence of parking meters.
The double-sided doorway is a little heavy, but with the giant windows there's always someone who will see you if you're struggling with the door. The interior is a mixture of regular tables with some high-tops. There's ample room for wheelchair users and spacing was quite workable. The ordering counter is easily identifiable as you enter and I found the staff to be friendly, helpful, and patient with newbies.
The Caffeinery is family owned with lively but not overwhelming music, a bright atmosphere, outdoor seating, free WiFi, and the usual selection of coffees, a really wide selection of lattes, iced and hot teas, other iced drinks, baked goods, and probably a few other things I didn't even notice.
I kept it simple and went with a large house coffee. I was able to hang out at a table and really soak in the relaxing atmosphere amidst people who were friendly and the warm, inviting atmosphere.
I definitely look forward to returning upon my next visit to the Muncie area and will definitely give The Caffeinery an enthusiastic thumbs up. read more
