Traveling east from Indianapolis to Akron, Ohio, I called Boston Stoker and asked if I could get a tour and the person on the line went out of her way to make some calls to make a visit possible for me. The employee who showed me around the roastery took a personal interest in getting to know me and my love for coffee and tailored the tour to my interests and level of knowledge. He didn't seemed rushed and was genuinely interested in sharing with me about Boston Stoker, like their history and what they have been doing in the specialty coffee world. To top off the visit with a wonderful display of souther hospitality he brewed me a pour over of a favorite coffee the team was drinking at the time and sent me off with a bunch of sweet stickers. Hidden Gem!!! Literally…read more So, your GPS/Waze will get you there but your eyes and brain will be lost. This is because it is literally inside the HighGrain Brentwood BrewPub. Once you've found HighGrain, park in the parking lot and go inside. You walk in and La Terza is immediately on your left. When you walk in, you can go up to the counter and check out the menu. Just hit the little doorbell on the counter if nobody is there when you arrive. They'll show up quickly. You'll also likely notice the coffee's that they currently have "on tap", if you will. They put the bags out front so you know what you're ordering. You can choose from one of their straight up cups of coffee to espresso or latte's, iced or hot. During this visit I selected a small black coffee and an iced vanilla latte. The black coffee was a Costa Rica bean that was bold and robust with flavor. I really enjoyed this. The vanilla latte was not sweet at all. So, if you're looking for something a little sweeter, I'd ask for it to be sweetened or possibly go with the caramel latte, as that was a little sweeter. They do roast their beans on-site. I was going to take a walk over there but the door was closed once I got my coffee order. I did buy a bag of their whole Peru sourced beans that I'm very much looking forward to grinding up and French pressing to perfection. Combined with HighGrain, there is a lot of space to sit and enjoy your coffee. They have a small bakery cabinet to check out and order from as well. I can only assume that the coffee shop and brewery work together, so you may be able to order food from HighGrain and have your coffee too. Would I go back? 100%. I'm looking forward to trying the beans that I purchased. If they're as good as the coffee that I had in-store, La Terza will be on my list of local places to get my beans from.

The day we were there he was offering almost 20 varieties!! The smell of roasting beans was incredible! Hempton boasts a SCA professional coffee certification! The place has a rustic feel to it with handcrafted items in the entryway! The coffee bar features several hot pots of Java for sampling! The owner is happy to educate his customers on types of coffee , roasting and brewing techniques. You are encouraged to wonder around and observe the large bags of coffee obtained from around the world! Hempton is a real expert and coffee historian. Ask him about "cowboy coffee".
