Seems like my main complaint is very similar to others....the cookies are good. But I brought my toddler here a few weeks ago and there was no one else in the store. It was mid afternoon and from what I could see one employee working. She was in the back when we walked in, and she didn't acknowledge us or anything. It was several minutes until she walked up to the register and stood there. Again, didn't acknowledge us or even look at us, I wasn't sure if she was ready to take our order or not, but I went up and ordered. She didn't say anything. Seemed to be completely annoyed that we were even there (we only ordered 2 cookies). She walked off to bag our order before I paid then handed me the cookies and walked to the back. I'm sure people have off days or maybe have some things going on, but at least acknowledging your customers and saying "hi"and/or "thank you" would be better for your business. read more

Got a craving for a cookie. Insomnia Cookies, although a chain, has some outstanding, fresh, warm, and simple cookies. Some places nowadays think that you need to put 14 items on top of a cookie or make it something it's not. It's a cookie. It's not an assembly line. Insomnia hits the classics like snickerdoodle and chocolate chip. And they do it well. My personal fav is the mint chocolate chip. It is a chocolate based dough with a goodly amount of chip and mint. A warm and refreshing cookie for that afternoon work day break. Want to spice it up? Make it an ice cream sandwich with their decent selection of hand dipped ice cream. And get some cookies to take home. While they're a little pricey, no one will complain. read more

When I placed the order, we were told by Cameron, the manager, that it would be a 15 minute wait. No problem - we can wait 15 minutes. The cookies took 45 minutes. When I asked Cameron about the discrepancy, he said four times "It's not my problem" (I have this on the video that has been sent to Insomnia, KK, and JAB). I haven't had an issue with anything and of course it's by a college campus so they're open late, major plus for me. Their cookies are standard I've gotten some here in Muncie and I've gotten some in broad ripple and they're very comparable. We come here often since our daughter is a study at Ball State, and we take cookies home with us each time we are here. However, two weeks ago, I went looking to get gluten free cookies that they have been advertising for more than a month I was told they don't have anything gluten free, only vegan. My daughter went with a group of friends two days ago and they ordered the gluten free cookies and they got them. So today, when we came on campus for an event, I went in again to get some, the same girl from my first visit told me once again they only have vegan and don't have any gluten free. I asked both times if they were out and she said no, we never had it. Why advertise if you don't have it and if you do, you need to educate your staff on your products and on basic hospitality as she was not very pleasant. read more

On the door it says open til 3am, Yelp, and Apple til 1am yet again it is not open? No where is there a "help wanted" sign or a paper in the door apologizing about being short staffed so clearly this is a poorly ran franchise that does not care at all how it represents its company. Don't expect to get any late night cookies from this location because they can't even keep anyone working long enough for that to be possible. To the franchise owner of this location you should probably just retire. And to the cooperate insomniac cookies I would be embarrassed to have this franchise owner representing you. Warmed up cookies in various flavors- usually a seasonal special like lemon white chocolate chip plus the usual oatmeal raisin, choc chip, double chocolate, snickerdoodle, peanut butter, etc. Also have decent approximately deck of cards-sized brownies which are soft when they warm them and fudgy with an even mix of dry and moist for $3.25. 6-pack of very soft flavorful cookies which are about deck of card size each as well goes for $10 so nothing cheap here. They also sell ice cream and plastic bottles of milk. read more

I heard about this "amazing" cookie shop that supposedly has like the best tasting cookies you have ever put in your face. Well, me thinks not. The shop is a small little place and a bunch of college kids were in there just hanging around. Kind of expected since it is a college town. The store front really is nothing special, but I did not travel all the way from Ohio just to check out the store. I would also mention the bathroom was not clean and there were no paper towels to clean your hands after using the facility. So my friend and I walk up to the counter to place an order; we were the only two people in line and the checkout girl was behind the counter messing with some cookie dough. We stood there for a solid five minutes while she played with this cookie dough and wrote little notes about the crap under the counter. You would think that when a customer is standing there ready to place an order, you would be more attentive and get the order going. Nope, not this chick, she could have cared less who was standing inline. Well after the girl was done farting around, she figured she might as well help these morons that are standing in front of her for the last five minutes that don't seem to be going away that won't stop annoying her; she takes our order. We get the six pack which consisted of two white chocolate macadamia nut, two peanut butter, and two snicker doodle. I would like to point out that six cookies cost $9.53! For that kind of money, you are saying you have a really fine product and the quality of that product justifies the cost. Sadly, this is not true. We ate the cookies and they had a very distinct Crisco taste to them. The cookies were soft and moist but the back end flavor ruined the whole experience. Honestly, the cookies I have gotten at Meijer's tasted better than what we got from this shop. I know for a fact that I can make better cookies than this at home. I'm even willing to bet that the cookie dough that comes in the plastic tubes from Toll House at the grocery store will taste better. I was disappointed from the whole experience. The build-up from word of mouth certainly did not justify the drive to get to this place. My final assessment: This business was started by a college kid and is marketed mostly to college kids that have not developed any kind of sense of taste. So for them, these are great cookies and they are spending Mommies and Daddies money anyway, so why do they care. Save your gas money and your time and just go to your local grocery store and buy the cookies from them. You will save yourself a truck load of cash and get a better product and I can guarantee the girl checking you out will be more attentive to you and a whole lot more friendly. read more

Ordered cookies and milk to surprise my freshman at Ball State for Valentine's Day and was disappointed to learn that he didn't get the milk with the cookies. Being that it was Valentine's Day the phone lines were jammed and I couldn't get a representative on the line to save my life. Called the next morning and held another 15 minutes to get a representative that could care less that they messed up the order or had zero interest In rectifying it. Buyer beware. The cookies are great, don't get me wrong. But I always seem to have problems ordering, and they try to overcharge me for things that are minor because (I assume, based on the time I order) they assume I am drunk. The first time, they took my order, and then called me to verify and asked a trivial question about upgrading my ice cream. I didn't want to. Fine, I don't care. Tonight, they called me back to verify my order (placed online) and told me, "we have an order for brownies...and...walnuts? Or something? Do you still want it?" I said yes. They delivered my "Brownie a la mode" without the damned ice cream. Because they ran out. They didn't call me to say they were out of ice cream. They called to say "do you still want your order?" Them charged me full price - of the order with ice cream - and delivered only a brownie. And the receipt stated a la mode. It's trivial. It's only $2. But, they knew they had no ice cream. And they attempted to charge me for it anyhow. I spent 20 minutes on the phone trying to correct it, and the local store tried to claim they warned me, and that somehow I "chose" to pay for the ice cream, even though they didn't have any. That's a full on, illegal, scam. And most (drunk college kids) people won't report it. Don't let them get away with it. I tried to file with Better Business Bureau, but the Muncie store is not listed. This is shady practice, and if it is commonplace, it needs attention. So beware. If they seem like they're trying to rip you off....they probably are. And let people know it's happening. read more

The safety measures taken here are atrocious and hypocritical. There's a sign that requires masks, but through their glass windows you *literally* see them preparing and breathing all over the cookies, no masks, wiping their sweat and faces, and continuing without sanitizing. The reason was "it gets hot in here". Sure, I get that, I work in food service, but it's unsafe. Gross. Seeing this made us change our minds, not to mention the fact we were waiting an extra 30 minutes than told. At 9:45 it was "we're bringing them out now"... suddenly it's 10:15. Let me just say, Insomnia Cookies are the bomb. They are a little over a dollar for their regular cookies, but I definitely recommend paying $14 to get a dozen. I would recommend trying their chocolate peanut butter cookies or their snicker doodles! The cookies are just so good! They are super gooey and they just melt in your mouth. They are also open til 3am which makes it easier to get too- especially if you're at Ball State. The customer service is also really good! They were friendly and got me my cookies right away. Very quick service! I definitely recommend Insomnia if you haven't been there before. This was my first time, and I will absolutely be going back! read more

DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM!!!! sent a delivery to my son and they have no idea where it is. I called them and they never returned my call. I called back to their national number and said we can send you another order out but you are going to have to wait a couple of hours. It was going to be midnight before it got there. This place was highly recommended by the IU Ball ICU nurses, PT staff and MY nephew. So we knew we were getting some good stuff. We got a half dozen. Meh. Sure it was warm and gooey - but the white chocolate macadamia nut and snickerdoodle cookies were way, way underdone. Doughy, undercooked. The double chocolate chocolate fudge cookies were incredible! The mint chocolate chip were OK but couldn't overcome the undercooked ones. Probably won't win a return visit for me. We visited the Muncie store last night after a friends birthday dinner. First, the girl behind the counter was not friendly at all. It seemed it was literally all she could take to be there. The cookies were hard and not warm. Arent they supposed to be warm? The biggest thing was that the restroom had a sign posted that said "out of order." Two of us had to go, but it was clearly not useable. Then, a delivery driver came in, got out a key, unlocked the bathroom door and used the restroom. When he came out, he locked it back up and went back to work. If you are going to offer seating in a food establishment, dont you have to have a useable restroom? The cookies are good, but I have NEVER seen such a lack of respect towards customers. Employees and managers won't hesitate to leave you standing at the register for nearly 5 minutes in silence while they finish up whatever it is that is more important. Delivery drivers won't touch anything besides a cell phone in between their deliveries. But once you finally manage to order your cookies, after reselecting because something is unavailable, you will have to wait for someone to get around to filling your order. Upon ordering delivery, not wanting to have to deal with the lazy attitudes received when going in, my order of one brownie, two cookies, and a bin of ice cream, showed up with just two cookies. Customer support was the first insomnia cookies employee to give a single care about my experience, but having paid cash and just wanting a refund I found myself headed back to this dreadful store. The manager of the shift told me that she filled the order HERSELF, and that I MUST have lied about not receiving my brownie. Let me set the scene for you. It was 11:32 on a Sunday night, the football games were over and i was getting ready for bed. As i finally lay down it hits, the most intense hunger attack i have ever had. I needed sweets, so i ran to the kitchen and boom. All out. BUYERS BEWARE! My wife placed an online order on Friday for delivery of a dozen cookies. She even left a $2.00 tip for the delivery person. The order was to be delivered the following day by 1:00 PM. The cookies were intended to be a Valentines Day surprise for our student at Ball State University. Around 3:00 pm my wife finally called our son, ruining what she hoped would be a surprise, and found that nothing had been delivered. We checked the "Cookie Tracker" on the web site, and it showed that the order had been delivered. I called customer service and explained the situation. The girl that took my call after 15 minutes stated that there were no notes on the order. She then asked, "Your son claims he never received the cookies?" I was a bit offended by her insinuation that my son was lying, but simply stated, "He did NOT get the order." She had me verify the address of the dorm and my son's cell phone number. Both were correct. She said she was calling the store and having them deliver the order within the next 30 to 40 minutes. She did apologize and emailed us a coupon for 3 free cookies on our next order. I called my son on his cell phone told him they would be delivering the cookies in the next 1/2 hour. He decided to wait in the lobby for the delivery. After waiting over an hour, he called and let me know that he never got a call, nothing had been delivered, and he was giving up and going back up to his room. I called Insomnia and explained the situation again. The guy that answered the phone said he was calling the store and put me on hold. When he came back on the line, he asked if I wanted them to deliver the cookies, offering no explanation as to why they still hadn't been delivered. Then he offered me another coupon for 3 free cookies. By that time I'd had enough. I explained that I wasn't interested in any free cookies since they couldn't even deliver the ones that I had paid for. I told him to just cancel the order and refund the money. Not even hesitating, he said he would process the refund and that it would take 3 to 5 days to process. I thanked him and hung up. About two hours later, I received an email from Insomnia that read, "Whoops! We have a problem!" asking me to call customer service. I called and gave the original order number again and explained that I canceled the order. The girl called the store and came back to tell me that the Store had called my son's cell and never got an answer. I explained that regardless of whatever story the store had told her, my son had waited in the lobby of the dorm for over an hour and had not gotten any calls nor received the delivery. She said that she didn't show the order was cancelled, but would now cancel it, again offering free cookies. I respectfully declined, resolving that I would never place another order with this company. Hopefully this review has helped you come to the same conclusion. read more

I was in town for a tournament, and Insomnia was recommended by a local. The cookies were good (I shared a white chocolate macadamia and a double chocolate mint) and were served warm. I don't know that they were particularly special, but still good nonetheless. However, we were served by an especially unfriendly male worker. This was probably the biggest turn off of our visit.
