As one of the largest food brand conglomerates, you'll find they own a lot more than you thought. Birds Eye, Duncan Hines, Healthy Choice, Marie Callender's, Reddi-whip, and Slim Jim for starters. Originated in 1919 as the Nebraska Consolidated Mills in Grand Island Nebraska, they moved here to Omaha and grew out of just being a grain milling company. They're technically headquartered in Chicago. Today, it was my attempt to make a box cake with one from Duncan Hines. It worked out okay. Company's website reviews are dishonest they didnt like my negative review on there changes to the Smart Balance product so they removed. New formula is terrible Have used Smart Balance for probably close to a decade. The formula changed and is absolutely awful. Will be looking for a new product. Hebrew Nationals beef franks are kosher and quite tasty. But for some odd reason they come in packs of 7 franks...but hot dog buns are only sold in packs of 8. WTF am I supposed to with bun #8? They're lucky to even get 1 star, but there's no option for zero stars. Their hungry man chicken meals are definitely not worth the price. If you're lucky you might actually get a piece of real identifiable chicken meat. Usually its just breading, cartilage and bones with scraps of mystery meat. The meat cooks fine in the microwave, but the potatoes and corn take forever! Buy their Chef Boyardee beef ravioli and be prepared to find insect parts in the beef. can i get some stock in this company? they provide some of my favorite food products and they are big ones! banquet- from salisbury steak to crispy fried chicken and turkey pot pies to chicken breast tenders, you can always count on banquet to provide consistently good taste at a great value. gulden's- not a big fan of your classic yellow mustard these days as it's just so darn boring. gulden's spicy brown mustard i just love so much and i use it on almost everything i make and eat. gulden's is perfect for topping a frank, spreading on a sandwich, or mixing into a favorite recipe. van camp's- when looking for a tasty and satisfying bean dish, try one of the best beans out there, good old classic pork & beans, the no. 1 brand in pork and beans, is clearly america's favorite. i eat them pretty much every time i bbq. knott's berry farm- how can anyone not love thus jam?! i grew up spreading these scrumptious fruity flavors on my toast, pancakes and peanut butter sandwiches. this great classic jam is all about memories. poppycock- a gourmet popcorn lovers dream. all i gotta say it's all about the cashew mix, OH MY! :) chef boyardee- it's not the best gourmet pasta out there but it's still a great old fashioned can of memories. great comfort food for when you need a smile. hewbrew national- i know this is a great hot dog with ingredients i want to eat and polish off 2 or 3 at a sitting and regret it later that night with a stomach ache. oh it's so worth it! Con Agra Foods has recently REALLY disappointed me. A couple months ago, I was eating a meal packaged by Con Agra under the name "Banquet" and found a DEAD BUG in the frozen dinner. It was the "Banquet Family Size Creamy Sauce with Broccoli and Chicken over Rice." I don't make enough money to throw away food but unfortunately, that is what I did on this occasion and even after writing to Con Agra to let them know what happened, more than a month has passed and I have not heard a thing. I used to really like this meal and would like to know if this is commonplace with this food company...and if something is being done to be more cautious when Con Agra is making/packaging these meals. I would love to hear from you, Con Agra, Inc! (And I'd love to get my money back for the meals I bought under the Banquet name that I ended up throwing out...you have my receipt!!!) read more

Picked up a load dispatch cussing talking about everything waiting for 1 hour just for paperwork

Just ate a Healthy Choice Power Bowl... something called, "Sweet & Zesty BBQ Seasoned Pork" which turned out to be a combination of the most vile tasting ingredients I've ever experienced. The pork may have been "Sweet & Zesty" in someone's creative imagination but, in reality, it was a few pieces of flavorless flesh with the questionable ability to induce a rapid series of gag reflexes! The combined flavors of the other ingredients was akin to a severe septic tank problem and would be a powerful instrument of torture against terrorism. How ironic... the day that I contact the BBB, the company decides to respond to my original contact. Pathetic.

They aren't forthcoming on their labels. They don't mention they use lard in their baked products. Rather, they state "shortening". They wrote back to me after I contacted them four times (phone and email) and asked them what is the exact source of cholesterol (since they him-hawed around the answer). Finally, they told me: "Banquet Pot Pie and Fruit Pies crusts are made using lard. Lard is fat rendered from hogs. Lard is richer than many other fats and therefore makes tender flaky crusts." Any responsible company would list "lard" or "beef fat" or, in this case, "pork fat" on their label. Not this crappy company. They are pathetic. Not only that, there food is crap. Pure crap. That's what I get for purchasing one thing made by a crappy company. Crap food. Untruthful label. I have zero respect for companies that mask the truth. Shameful. read more

Dear consumers who value their appetites, My husband recently bought a Marie Callendar's lasagne (owned by ConAgra Foods) and baked it on an evening I worked so I would come home to a warm dinner. He gets 5 stars. After 13 arduous hours of work and getting home late, I put my aching feet up and took a big bite of lasagne. I stopped chewing... oh, a hair. "Don't panic, maybe it's your own," I told myself. I pulled and pulled and pulled and a looooong hair exited my lasagne filled mouth. I started to chew again, a little grossed out, but tried to move on. "Oh, sweet mother, another one!" I pulled on the second hair that was tickling my palate and wrapped around my tongue. I dry heaved and moved to the kitchen sink. I thought it was over and then, you guessed it there was still more hair in my mouth! I spit it out in the sink and was unable to finish my dinner. There were at least 4 maybe 5 long hairs coiled up in my lasagne. It was as if Mr. ConAgra cleaned out his corporate gym's shower drain and then deposited it in the ricotta and herb mix that went into my lasagne. I called and made a formal complaint with ConAgra. They were very polite and sent me an e-mail apologizing for the "hair" I found in my food. They said the highest quality standards are used when preparing their foods. Hair nets are mandatory, bla bla bla. The hair wasn't why I complained. It was the shear QUANTITY of HAIRS that pushed me over the edge. They sent me a buy one entree, get one free coupon in the mail. I didn't expect anything, really. I just wanted to be reassured that this won't happen again. If the highest quality standards are already in place and being applied, America, we're in trouble. Because if a toupee can sneak through ConAgra's standards into my lasagne, what else can? P.S. I worked for corporate in Omaha and toured the Council Bluffs plant. The plant was filthy with food all over the floor. The company was the worst I have ever worked for in terms of management throwing people under the bus to save their own hide. Good riddance ConAgra I hope that the worthless are culled from the heard and the few decent people that work there are able to keep their jobs. After seeing the state of the factory, I would not eat your food it someone paid me to do it. read more
