I love Stoysich and have been going there for over 15 years. I was in the neighborhood for 13 years and was happy to be so close. I live in Papillion now, but still try to stop by from time to time. They're always so nice and welcoming to everyone. Gotta keep supporting these local family run businesses. Living in West Omaha my usual route for meat shopping didn't bend down to 60th unless I had good reason. Then the Stoysich House of Sausage closed on 132nd & Center. I came to understand the separation of families story in the two Markets well before the closing so my route has now bent down to include our remaining Stoysich on 60th & Q. Since shopping there I have discovered their homemade Mortadella, HyVee no longer carries it in their deli meat counter and Orsi's is a longer drive. It is awesome! Quality pork, garlic and peppercorns. I have also found a better source for charcuterie selections, pork cheeks, beef cheeks and their homemade polish sausage! All very worth the drive. On my last visit I saw two prime chuck roasts that were so nicely marbled I just about bought them both. I've never seen a nicer beef roast! Plus all the other German, Italian, Polish etc grocery items. One more Plus is that they smoke their own bacon! (No other compares) chickens, pork butt. It's hog heaven! read more

I have passed by this location a thousand times not knowing it was an actual grocery store, I thought it was the Stoysich office building. I have been to the other Stoysich but not Frank's, hearing they had good Andouille and next Friday being National Gumbo Day I had to make a trip. Upon entering I ran into Frank Jrs wife and met their sisters and she started sharing stories. She saw I was checking out their award winning ham so she brought over samples, not one but two slices. I started looking around and unexpectedly found a nice European beer section. One of the sisters came over and talked beer for a while. Saturday afternoon and this place was packed, there were about 8 people waiting to get some meats but plenty of people behind the counter to help. I got a Ukranian beer and some Andouille and before getting to check out I was given some Andouille recipes. This trip was an experience in itself, such a small store but full of friendly surprises. This shop is a fixture of South Omaha. It reflects the Eastern European culture which once dominated South Omaha. Many of the staff are second-and third-generation, as are many of the customers. This is a classic butcher/sausage shop, with a small selection of groceries and a little deli case. The selection of sausages, both raw and cooked, is enormous. They've won--or should I say earned--numerous 1st place national and regional awards for their sausages. From time to time, they feature locally-made foods (pies, etc) that you can't find anywhere else. They always want to make sure you're satisfied, so don't hesitate to request samples or to request special cuts or packaging. If your budget is tight, they usually have scraps or sausage ends available for half price. Prices are consistently higher than a grocery store, but it's worth every penny. Note that they close at 5:30 on weekdays, so if you have a normal job, you'll probably have to shop on a Saturday. read more

Growing up in South O, this has been the go to spot for deli meats, steaks, and jerky for many years. This establishment is extremely well managed and such a wonderful store. Their selections are abundant and it has so much to offer. I would especially recommend their dry rub that is made in house. I put this on almost everything I cook. I drove by here en route to somewhere else, saw the Stoysich name and stopped to check it out. I've never been to the Stoysich House of Sausage so I can't compare the two, but this place was wonderful. (A little internet search explains that both businesses are run by the same family (Stoysich isn't THAT common of a name!); a father started one and his son started the other.) Besides a stunning meat case, they have a selection of high-end groceries like Italian canned tomatoes, specialty drinks, sauces and cookies, etc., as well as a small produce department. Customer service was excellent. The woman behind the meat counter was friendly and handed me my Italian sausage with a real smile, and as I checked out, the cashier offered recommendations on cooking the sausage and was just plain nice. I cannot wait to go back and pick up cuts of meat for recipes I've been avoiding for lack of supply. read more

It's hard not to love this place. Well, if you can find it. Super-clean store with basic groceries and even a few cases of frozen goods. Oh and simply THE BEST MEAT COUNTER I've ever been to. The staff is very polite, friendly and knowledgable. Ask them anything about their goods and they'll give you an honest answer without an attitude. And the sheer cleanliness of the place makes your typical supermarket meat department seem like a slaughterhouse. Great little meat shop with a quite a few extras you might need and find at a convenience store. They also have bread and cute little european candies...definitely looks like a higher end, yet quaint and impeccably clean meat market. As far as their meat goes, prices were very affordable for fresh stuff. I memorize prices and it was very reasonable and comparable to your local grocery stores, except here it's not styrofoam vacuum sealed and you don't know where it came from or even processed. I asked about a dozen questions and learned that they have fresh never frozen chicken delivered 3 times a week, fresh oxtail, have pork hocks and pork shoulder (hard to find at most other places), they will grind pork for me, they also have frozen hard to find meats in the freezer like veal, livers, pigs feet, ears, among other things. All the meats are pretty local. They didn't offer free range or grain free meats which was a bummer...but sometimes I don't feel like paying triple or quadruple the price and drive all they way to whole foods. He also didn't give me a hard time for asking that, like when I went to another meat shop that felt small and claustrophobic...I forgot the name. Besides the weird meats, the steaks looked great. They also have tons of different house smokes sausages. The man who helped me gave me samples of the sausage and beef jerky and even gave me some sausage to take home...just to try! He was so nice and totally not intimidating! Great small and local meat market. read more

I just love this place. Whenever I'm in Omaha I stop to stock up on some favorites - especially their killer Jaternice! Of course, I can't stop with just a few pounds of that, so end up with a couple of other things to try out. Everything is uniformly good an wholesome. Another thing - I have never felt their sausage is too salty. Some places seem to way over do the salt and other spices. Not Frank's. They have a wealth of other great food. Last tiem I got a couple of cans of Frank's Kraut (not Stoysich - another frank) which has been a fave of mine since I was a rug rat. I would have skipped that if they had been jars, but cans were safe in my checked luggage. Frank's is one of the reasons I wish I lived nearer. Great food, and great folks. You just can't beat a family business. The reason for the review is that I'm jonesin' for some Frank's Jaternice, and there's 1700 miles between me and a fix. read more

They have the best meats. We are originally from Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania...they have traditional Polish sausage, I have bought it every holiday since I moved here in 2003. Stoysich's on Q street is truly on another level. They are a good old fashioned butcher shop first and foremost; but they also carry a nice array of rare European beer, many of which I haven't seen anywhere else in Omaha...plus a nice pantry of imported European chocolates and other types of candy. Their service is extremely friendly, and they love to hand out samples of their products like it was still 1940. I love these guys. Most important though, are their meats. This isn't even a bold statement, it's just a fact: Stoysich (specifically the one on Q) has THE finest, most perfect meats in the state. Really. Their Canadian bacon, Capacolla, smoked fish, salami, steak, Dutch Apple sausage, the smoked ham, thick sliced bacon, of course the REAL, actual polish sausage, it's all just perfect. Truly it is. I can't talk about their cheeses, because when I go there I don't even see the cheese...but their meats are beyond fresh, and beyond black label. This is the one place in Omaha that I can truly say about their food- "it's perfect". read more

Even when they are busy they take the time to give you recommendations on how to cook what you are buying or what their favorites are. The cashier is also very nice. I called there today only to be hung up on.. Not Happy when I'm calling about inquiring info on (if you do or do not) sell raw pork ear's as I cook them for my dog. I was told by a guy at my Fairway store to call and check as they don't carry them. It's a shame all it takes is one time to be hung up on and this place has lost my business opportunity forever. I lived in Omaha most of my life, I now live in Missouri. You don't know how much you miss until you move away, Frank Stoysich is one of those things! We go back once a year and load up on smoked sausage, we can't find anything even close here!! My brother lives in AZ. and also loads up as well as having family bring it to him when they visit.
