There's a large selection of various cuts of raw meat just waiting for your skillet or grill. The array of spices and condiments meant for that meat is pretty extensive too. Lots of cheese, veggies, pastries and ready to eat meals grace the shelves and cases. I bought some low sodium pasta sauce, cheese cubes, a jar of garlic, fresh green beans, carrots, a cinnamon roll, and a ready to eat macaroni and cheese with brisket. I haven't tried everything yet but I liked the cheese. Bookguy and I shared the mac and cheese when I got home, but neither of us liked it. I think the sweet barbecue sauce on the brisket didn't go well with the cheese sauce. The cinnamon roll was a bit dry, but it had icing to help that. If I had added melted butter, I would have like it better. The Mercato is kind of a niche store, but the products I bought were reasonably priced. I don't know anything about the meat, since I didn't buy it. The two employees were friendly and engaging. This is a long way from my usual shopping area, but if I lived nearby, I could see myself being a customer.

We usually go for the sirloin steaks and whatever homemade sausages they have for the week. They also have specials on some of their meat options that change depending on the season. I really appreciate their pricing here as well, we don't feel like we are breaking the bank with getting meat from here vs the grocery stores. Not very salty compared to store bought and the smoke flavor was really good. All the other cuts were done as I expected and packaged well. For the 1/2 beef I had quite a few cut instructions and they followed them perfectly. I was very pleased with the packaging too. Being a novice at selecting cuts they did a great job walking be through what I could/couldn't do. The store itself is pretty run down. Not that it really matters, but it could really use a makeover. One nice touch is they sell craft beers that are brewed all over Nebraska. Probably had 30-40 different beers you could buy all a cart.

The only remotely interesting thing about this store is that they have many, many bottles of liquor from local distilleries in which apparently you can sample for a possible purchase. Unfortunately, I was not there to sample booze, perhaps they have their priorities misaligned. There are so many other butcher shops around, I have no need to return.
