I was a guest of a member during the 18-inch snow storm, so I wore my $500 dollar suede Danner lights (Made in the USA) to manage the snow. Upon entry, I was informed by the staff that, due to the suede being too light, it looked too much like Timberland boots, which are banned. I was professionally whisked to a backroom, where I was offered to wear black loafers 3 sizes too large if I wanted to make my appointment. I spent the rest of my time skipping through the venue in order to not trip over myself, wearing massively oversized shoes. I would have been okay with this footwear restriction if it was universally enforced, but there were plenty of people in the club wearing duck boots, metal hook leather hiking boots, and even the same type of boots of a slightly darker shade. Apparently, the shoe shade restriction was not something members are aware about (the no sneakers restriction is well known). I have previously been a guest here with positive experiences. However, today I was put in an illogically unsafe experience, forced to wear loaner shoes 3 sizes too large, because $500 lighter suede boots are deemed less classy than duck boots for being too"Timberland like" during a snow storm.

I've pressed buttons, called them over the phone, knocked on the door, but 2 out of 2 times, someone coming out has let me in. The aesthetic is nice, very soho. But the ACs kinda don't work. The service is pretty decent. But random floors have been closed every time I've visited. Idk it's not for me. I like the other two better.

Ludlow (aka Soho) House is a lovely private club ensconced in the vicinity of the Lower East Side…read more It opened in 2016 by the owner of the chic English Soho House of London UK. Historically, the 143 year-old building was formerly a gold-leaf factory and high-end funeral parlour. The interior is designed to reflect the gritty, artistic history of the Lower East Side. Upon further exploration, of the club's four stories of rooms, we notice an eclectic mix of vintage pieces mostly salvaged from local vintage and consignment shop finds with unique artwork on display. The plush "Velvet Room" used for private screenings, was inspired by the apartment where Lou Reed and John Cale recorded early music demos, thus "the Velvet Underground" reference. Members are mostly scions of the Arts, Real Estate, and other fortunes. The establishment serves as a quiet escape in the city. The staff are helpful and well versed. As always, Thank you for reading. HRH

The club itself is wonderful, a piece of history located in midtown, near Korea Town and right next to the American Bar Association (shout-out to the lawyers reading this post). Will definitely try to do that on my next trip.

Afterwards, we went to the second floor for dinner. The dining area was very grand. We were seated right away. Even though it was peak dining hours, the space was pretty empty. Service throughout the meal was exceptional. The wait staff was so attentive and friendly. The food on the other hand was not the best. It stated off strong with a bread basket. The bead was warm and tasty with delicious butter on the side to spread on it. For my meal, I ordered a French onion soup and lobster tail Cobb salad. The FRENCH ONION SOUP was unfortunately quite watery and bland. The LOBSTER TAIL COBB SALAD was ok. There were a good amount of toppings on the salad and the portion was huge. But the main star, the lobster tail, was ice cold, rubbery and also very bland. All in all, even though the space is beautiful and service is impeccable, the food is just ok - really wish there was a bit more flavor to the dishes.

We didn't get to see a ton of the club since it's a private members-only space, but the areas we did see were beautiful and really well designed. It looked like the elite Manhattan 5th Ave crowd would frequent this with its privacy. The club has an initiation fee of 10k from what I hear. Honestly, I felt like their service to reciprocal members was distasteful. Several times staff were like who are you in an accusatory manner when we had permission to be there. It left a really bad taste in my mouth. We walked into this building and the lady up front pressed the button to go up to the top of the building. The place has 2 restaurants. The top restaurant has an amazing view of the city from the terrace. I would have loved to sit out there and eat if it wasn't winter and wasn't closed. The bottom restaurant offered a pretty overpriced breakfast. I paid 20 bucks for toast and a coffee (which is insane). The toast did have an awesome strawberry jam. The place also has a nice lounge area, movie theater, and a hair studio. The place has a gym that has a great view of New York. The place doesn't offer a lot of gym equipment, however. There is also a meditation room and bathroom that has a sauna.
