Okay so I am not a vegan. As a matter of fact I never thought that I would eat a 100% vegan meal and enjoy it for that matter. To be honest when I came to this location. I was not aware that it was a vegan restaurant. I thought that it was one of those healthy ones that had some type of meat product on the menu. Part of me wanted to walk out but I didn't want to appear rude or like a wondered into the wrong establishment LOL. So to save face, I sat down and picked something off the menu. The Dan Dan noodles caught my eye so I decided to get that with some modifications. I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed this dish. It was cooked to perfection and the texture was everything was just right. I am not a tofu fan and this entree had tofu in it and I absolutely loved it. The Bok Choy in it definitely set it off. I love Bok Choy so this was a very pleasant addition to the dish. The sauce and the noodles put it over the top. So I would say that this is going to be a go to dish for me and that I would highly recommend it. The atmosphere is quite quaint and pleasant. It is caught between a sterile and warm and welcoming environment. The dominate scheme in the restaurant is pretty much a bleached out homey edifice that happens to have a staff of very sweet and welcoming people that happens to serve as well. read more

This week we went to Comune, a small, intimate vegetarian spot hidden on Parsons Ave. The place is fairly small, and has no signs or anything that highlights it to passersby, so the restaurant is very easy to overlook if you have no prior knowledge of it.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ The interior is low-lit, and quiet, which gives the restaurant a very quaint, intimate setting (great for dates!). ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ For drinks, Bris had the Ficus on the Mission (mission fig-infused Averna,thyme, acid, and bubbles); Daryl had the Peppercorn's Lonely Hearts (peppercorn rye, roasted pineapple, and mole bitters); Cheese had the "I Have the Pawa" (avocado fat-washed resposado tequila, agave, lime, and grapefruit soda).⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ For appetizers, Bris had the Togarashi Fries, Daryl had the Tempura Cauliflower, and Cheese had the Charred Broccoli.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ For entrées, Bris had the Grilled Trumpet Mushroom, Daryl had the Crispy Fried Rice, and Cheese had the Fresh Semolina Pappardale.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Overall, Comune was a great experience in all aspects! The food was great, the drinks were pleasant, the atmosphere was nice and fitting, and the service was standard. Price-wise it would be more expensive than a typical restaurant you'd go to on a regular basis, but for the overall experience it's worth spending the extra dollars, especially for a special occasion (or if you're just rich, then by all means, go three times a week!). Even if you're not a vegetarian, we would be very shocked if any person, regardless of diet, did not enjoy themselves here. Has the potential to be a 5 star spot! Food - 5 stars. Soup and fingerling potato fries were awesome starters. Tempura eggplant sandwich and sweet potato torta were great. Where can I find the bread they use?? Very good. Not a vegetarian but enjoy a good vegetarian restaurant and this fits the bill. Ambiance - 5 stars. Chic spot with decor that is getting popular in Columbus which is great. Think North Star in short north or the lox bagel co. This is a full service restaurant Service/Kitchen/bar - 2 stars. Waitress was good but kitchen was so slow. It took a buddy and I 1.5 hours for lunch! An app, beer, and sandwich should not take that long. Also, they need to get draught tower checked out. I venture their CO2 is off as the beers were flat. This are $6 and $7 beers so hate to see their taste thrown off by a bad draught system. I've always been a fan of vegetarian restaurants- I worked at one for years. I admire the creativity and thoughtfulness that went into each dish. Our group of 3 ordered all of the starters plus the spaghetti squash and shared everything. 5 stars for ambiance and taste. 4 stars because it's overpriced. $13 for a small pour of wine, $12 for some naan and a couple of dips. Also, the first available reservation was at 9:30 pm, yet there were all kinds of open tables. I hope this place does well in an area that is being gentrified, but they need to be more affordable considering they're on Parsons avenue and most people have to travel to eat there. read more

This was my fourth visit and everything is always delicious! We love the excellent wine selection and creative cocktails. I have a complaint regarding this visit that may seem minor but I found it very off-putting . At some point the employee uniforms have changed. On my first few visits everyone was lovely, dressed nicely, most in black it seemed. Formal, but they seemed to be able to have a little freedom with personal style. Tonight everyone was in an array of shorts, T-shirt's, no type of coordination, and what I'm struggling to move past: an employee who was wearing a very snug mid drift T-shirt with a pair of jeans revealing boxer briefs underneath. The space between jeans and T-shirt revealed a rather hairy stomach that was directly at table level. I wouldn't find this "uniform" appropriate anywhere outside a strip club. read more

The food was so good that we literally canceled our other plans for the remainder of the evening and just stayed there eating half the menu.... And then seriously considered going back again two days later. We had the marinated olives, the coconut soup, the charred broccoli, the pappardelle and the togarashi fries. Although every single thing that we ordered was fantastic, the thing that sticks out in my mind the most was the pappardelle. A welcoming gem in this developing neighborhood. The decor is inviting and modern with very thoughtful design elements, crisp white walls with pops of greenery and contrasting black fixtures. The warm lighting is dim enough to create a relaxed ambiance. We sat at the bar against the window, we couldn't get a reservation when we called that Saturday. It's small and popular so seating is limited. Loved the grey stone they selected for the bar top. The food is delicious, seriously. The bread and spread is a must-have. The bread is made in house, it's so light and fluffy with a crispy exterior. We also got the Cassoulet and Parpadelle and would recommend them both. The noodles were excellent and the flavors are so satisfying, I would not have known it was vegan. The artisan cocktails are also great, I love an artisanal cocktail with some unexpected ingredients. The natural wines were soo yum and interesting and the guys responsible for serving it were on point in terms of timing and were very knowledgeable. Wow! Finally a fabulous restaurant with a great vibe that just happens to be vegetarian. Food is fantastic not "almost like meat" but just wonderful, flavorful and with ingredients you can identify. I really enjoyed Comune. Being a vegetarian, it is quite difficult to find a location that has good portions and can satisfy my non-vegetarian boyfriend. He actually enjoyed it so much that we are planning to go back. Plus, the vibe is very romantic for date night. Comune - I think, it means common or shareable. The way this place is designed seems pretty much like it. The location may not be on you regular route but I feel its the word of mouth which makes this place so known across columbus. It's a gem hidden next to NW children hospital.From outside you can not make out whats hidden inside. It was totally a surprise package for us. I went there with my colleague. We made a reservation ahead of time and I am so glad we did it.We reached around 11:20 and there were hardly any people there but within next 10 minutes the place was packed.The ambience is so simple but yet appealing and looks so neat and fresh.Everything in white makes this place to look bigger and better. We wanted to try multiple things and based on reviews we started with their bread and spread as starters. Its was very close to a freshly baked naan with butter and salt on top, served with 3 different types if spreads.I liked the roasted pepper spread and the berry flavoured spread. I ordered Sweet Potato Porta and a side of togarashi fries. The sandwich was so flavorful and perfectly balanced with all the contents. I am not a fan of sweet potato but with all other ingredients of sandwich it tasted so good. Fries were more like potato wedges with sprinkle of paprika but they tasted good.My friend liked the noodle bowl as well. There were lot of other things which we wanted to try but seems we will be coming back soon to finish other menu items one by one :-).Overall I liked this place and will give 4 stars for food, service and ambience.There is little scope of improvement in service area, since when its packed time to get your food takes more than average time. Had lunch today at Comune. I was very impressed. The decor is minimalist, with a lot of natural light. It's very comfortable and welcoming. The food was spectacular. I had high expectations, and they were met and exceeded. I am not a herbivore, but I didn't miss animal protein for one second. I didn't even think about it. The flavors are really well thought out. My vegetarian daughter was in heaven. I really think Comune will be a popular destination for anybody looking for thoughtful, delicious food and drink in a beautifully appointed restaurant. I am a dairy-free eater and I have been waiting for this restaurant to open since I participated in their pop up brunch earlier this summer. I have been there twice so far and gratefully it's proven to be everything I hoped it would be. I plan on making this a weekly occurrence. The menu is creative and most importantly it's delicious. The staff is welcoming and very helpful, advising on which menu items can be made vegan. I highly recommend the brussels sprouts and coconut squash soup. I'm so excited that this will become another go-to restaurant for us when we want a special night out. Without being vegetarian I think everyone can have a truly wonderful meal at Comune. The space is nice, but be warned that it's incredibly dark during the evening and there's only mood lighting (for everyone out there who wants a snap of the beautifully plated food before digging in). The service was top notch and very attentive. The server was really knowledgeable of the menu. We came by a Friday night around 8pm with no reservation and waited around 20-25min. We started with the Togarashi Fries and I would probably skip it next time. It was really salty, the gochujang wasn't very prominent and the miso aioli leaned more towards mayo. We also got the Crispy Fried Rice and Pappardelle and both were hands down delicious. The homemade kimchi was not too vinegary but had a really nice light tang and sourness. The homemade pappardelle was so good and filling. The prices are really reasonable for such a great meal. Can't wait to come back! read more

I had the crispy fried rice with avocado - full of flavor, appropriate level of spice, and very filling. I couldn't finish it...but that might have also been due to the wine we ordered. Reasonably priced for food; the wine was a little expensive but that's to be expected. As a regular meat-eater I was skeptical of a vegetarian place like this - but the flavor and the quality of food did not make me miss the chicken, steak, etc. Definitely worth checking out, especially for supporting quality local business. read more

Maybe the staff needs to turn over? It's really unfortunate that the worst service I've received at a restaurant in quite a while was at Comune last night. We arrived 10 min before our reservation and was told that our table was being cleared and we could have a seat at the bar. There were 2 ppl at the bar who had already been served drinks sitting there and us, no one else. We asked the bartender when he came over if he could wipe the bar off where we were sitting because there were potentially sticky drink rings on the bar and he lamented, " oh someone else should've gotten that." A few minutes later he came back and wiped the spot off thankfully. He then said our table would be ready soon and he would bring us water. We wanted to order drinks from the menus we were given to look at but he didn't offer and never came back with the water so we could even ask. I've never sat at a bar and not been served anything, not even water. 10 minutes after our reservation time passed a woman came over and said that they could just sit us at another table because our table was not ready. This was at a table that had been empty the whole time we had been there. She was polite and asked how we were and I honestly told her we were ok but we're a bit perplexed by our experience so far in the restaurant. When I explained the situation to her she said, " oh I don't know anything about that" sat us, and walked away. This is infuriating and quite frankly horrible service and I will not be recommending Comune to anyone again soon. We've been coming to Comune since 2019 and have always had great service but this was quite frankly, disappointing, rude, inconsiderate, and just bad. I've worked in many restaurants and can appreciate short staffed ness, weekend dinner rushes, and all the many situations that can make dinnner service less than ideal but the service I experienced tonight was not any of those things and the fact that no one in the front of the house offered an apology or to rectify it was poor on many levels. I truly hope that the ownership and/or management takes this to heart. This is not an experience I've ever had at Comune which makes it all the worse. All our other times there have been pleasant, friendly, and all around great service. I would love to give it another try but not with the service we had in this experience. read more

I'm surprised to see so many good reviews. I was initially excited to try Comune, I was hoping this spot would be a replacement for Dragonfly. I've missed them dearly since they closed! I drove from Cincinnati to try Comune with my boyfriend. We found parking but be warned it's street parking only. I liked the ambiance of Comune immediately. We had reservations so we were seated quickly. We ordered the potatoes to start. Not all of them were cooked completely and they just had oil on them for flavor which equaled a pretty bland starter. My boyfriend ordered the tamal as his entree and we were both shocked at how tiny it was when it came out. It's basically a small scoop of food and that's all. My entree was the pumpkin sabzi. The pumpkin stew itself tasted good but there were so many pumpkin seeds and peanuts on top that it was basically a very salty crust. I did not enjoy that at all. We were very disappointed and probably won't come back. I'm especially sad about it because there are so few upscale veg restaurants in Ohio. I know the menu rotates so maybe we'll try again in a different season but I feel like at least one out of the three dishes we tried needed to be good to bring us back. read more
